The long-term relationships among the markets are analyzed using the Johansen co-integration approach and short-run dynamics are captured using vector error correction models. The study reveals that there is an evidence of co-integration among the markets which means that stock prices in the countries under study share a common trend. The results reveal that Indian stock market moves towards equilibrium following a shock, one time period later but the speed of adjustment is slow. As expected stock market of US is granger causing Indian stock market. The presence of financial integration among the stock indices under study indicates that diversification among these five stock markets leads to little benefit to international portfolio investors.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115329035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The questions of “how much dividend should be paid and what factors determine dividend payout decision” have puzzled the researchers and decision makers. The present paper is the outcome of a study of public sector undertakings belonging to mining industry in India. The study is aimed to bring out the dividend pattern and determinants of the public sector firms. It also examines the application of Lintner's dividend model in PSUs in India. The study involves a period of 10 years (i.e. 20042013). The findings indicate that around one-third of the profits after tax is distributed as dividend by the sample companies. The study further showed that current year earnings and lagged dividends have positive relationship with dividend payouts in the current year.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127673940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
