Prior to investing their hard earned money, investors analyze the market plausibly by using various approaches like technical, fundamental, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT), etc. Nevertheless, some investor wins the game, while others lose it. This volatile behavior of markets has challenged the hypothesis of efficient markets which motivates us to understand the driving forces behind it. It is the major concern for academicians, investors and portfolio managers to understand the reasons causing irrationality in the markets. Academicians brought out few behavioral biases into existence which are required to be studied. The present paper is an attempt to have an insight about key factors influencing the behavior of retail investors with respect to demographics in relation to their investment and their decision making process.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134398549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many firms transform their HRM functions from manual to computerized work processes. Information technology is expected to drive Human Resource's (HR) transition from one having focus on Human Resource Management (HRM) to Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM). This strategic role not only adds a valuable dimension to the HR function, but also changes the competencies that define success of HR professional and practitioner. Interestingly, HRMS is utilized for administrative rather than analytical purposes. This with focus on implementation of HRMS in J&K Bank, attempts to investigate whether Human Resource Management Systems have reached the strategic potential in HR department or not.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"375 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125064016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Technological developments in the industry have undergone an evolutionary change, with the modernisation of the equipment, which possesses the ability to function more with lower space requirements. Additional usages like internet, Virtual Private Network VPN and Wi-max have acted as catalysts to increase the importance of the telecommunication industry. A revolutionary change can be observed in the business processes and management principles of the players in the industry, as the customer experience and high-end value services are generating positive cash flows for the existing players. Besides that, low tariff levels, connectivity, signal strength, various data services and a host of innovative value-added services are likely to determine the performance of the telecom players in future.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120969210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system of corporate governance is important for the banks in India because firstly, as India has a large banking sector, with over 90 scheduled commercial banks, majority of them being listed on the India's stock exchanges and secondly, majority of the banks are in the public sector, where they are not only competing with one another, but also with other players in the banking as well as the financial services systems, including financial institutions, mutual funds and other intermediaries. The research has been carried out on the sample of 40 listed banks, public as well as private sector and focused on the impact of key determinants of corporate governance on the firm value of the these banks. Panel data for 8 years (2005–2013) was analysed via the generalised method of moments (GMM) approach. There are several aspects and dimensions of corporate governance, which may influence a firm's value but this study focused on four aspects namely Ownership Concentration (OWNCON), Institutional Ownership (INOWN), Chief Executive Officer Duality (CEO) and Board's Independence (BOIN). Firm's value has been measured through Tobin's Q and market capitalisation. Strong and positive impact of corporate governance on firm's value has been seen.","PeriodicalId":184815,"journal":{"name":"LBS Journal of Management & Research","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123489453","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The PAT/Sales, PAT/TA and ROCE are taken as measures of profitability, whereas, Net Sales and Total Assets are used for measuring firm's size.
