To make sure the messages are received efficiently and reliably, particularly for safety applications, broadcasting is the most natural and promising approach. Besides the efficiency, security is another important issue for VANETs. Because the open nature of VANETs make it simple for malicious users to disrupt the system or lead to accidents. In this paper, we propose a PKI-based Multihop Broadcasting Protocol (PMBP), which aims at providing authenticated, integrated, non-repudiated vehicular communication. The authentication scheme is based on the Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) method. To provide an efficient trusted broadcasting scheme, two strategies are adopted: only the message originator signs the message, one message only be rebroadcasted once by each vehicle. Experimental results prove that this protocol is efficient enough to support safety related vehicular applications.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126624093","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on practical design procedure, the author come up with a new method to parameterize the PSHEB powertrain more effectively, in which the “motor/final drive” combination concept has been put forward after analyzing the “motor/final drive” reel-end characteristic (Torque/Power-Speed) and synthesizing the influence on the powertrain performance which comes with the parameters changing of “motor/final drive” system. This study contributes to finding more effective parametric design methods by bringing forward a set of demands for “motor/final drive”. In the end, after building a corresponding Matlab/Simulink model and running it under China Bus Transient Drive Cycle (CBTDC), favorable result was obtained, which proves the effectiveness of this research.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"439 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123198687","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recent development in vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication provides an effective means for continuous management of vehicle driving. This study presents an essential step of the work towards a dynamic fleet management system that takes advantages of real-time traffic information and communication. Based on the optimal control theory, a methodological approach is developed to control the environmental impacts of live vehicle fleets. In particular, vehicle trajectories that minimize local environmental objectives are derived by applying a discrete dynamic programming method. Numerical examples show that the method is promising for local V2I based traffic management applications and can be further extended for more complex optimal control problems in dynamic fleet management.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122341510","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Broadcasting of safety-related messages especially emergency messages is expected to be crucial in this environment. In this paper, we propose a Priority-based medium Access (PA) mechanism for Dedicated Short-Range communication (DSRC) vehicular safety communication over IEEE 802.11p, called Vehicular PA (VPA). VPA supports two types of safety-related services (emergency and routine safety-related messages) with different priorities and strict requirements on delay, especially for emergency safety-related messages. VPA can guarantee the most important emergency messages to be transmitted as soon as possible by improving their priority for accessing the wireless channel. Simulation results show that our scheme clearly outperforms the classical DCF scheme adopted by IEEE 802.11p in terms of delay and the number of successfully transmitted packets during a synchronization interval defined in 802.11p.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"88 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131382677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To decrease design complexity and cost, several CAN are utilized in different sub systems and gateway is employed to realize the communication between them. But the employment of gateway brings many challenges for schedulability analysis of CAN messages. We first analyzed the key challenges for schedulability analysis of messages. And then, based on existing method proposed for one single CAN, a new analysis method that is based on interference analysis for dynamically arriving gateway messages is proposed for non-gateway messages. Furthermore, a division approach that transforms the end-to-end schedulability analysis of gateway messages into the similar situation with that of non-gateway messages is proposed for gateway messages. The proposed method is proved to be safe, and by comparing it with a full space searching based simulator and applying to a real message set, its effectiveness is demonstrated as well.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"130 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132763720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hence, it is obvious to replace conventional vehicles with gasoline or diesel engines with Electric Vehicles (EVs). An important area of such replacements are vehicle fleets of companies or urban administrations. The goal of the research project metropol-E is to develop a concept for integrating Electric Mobility and renewable energy resources in the urban fleet of the City of Dortmund. The developed concept can be easily transferred to other municipalities. This work shortly introduces the metropol-E concept and concentrates on an Information System for Mobile Electric Mobility Services. On the one hand, this Information System is able to analyze the fleet movement by installing smart phones in the vehicles. On the other hand it connects the EV with the rest of the infrastructure services. With the help of the collected fleet movement data, the fleet and the charging infrastructure can be optimized. Exemplary results and mechanisms for such optimizations are also discussed in this work.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122032100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, based on a practical MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) channel estimation algorithm for LTE-Advanced uplink, we discuss how to optimize its performance when different number of resource blocks (RB) are allocated. It is shown that after optimization, we can achieve better performance at both low and high SNR regions for both small and large number of allocated RBs. When the number of allocated RBs is large, it is shown that, with real channel information obtained by the optimized channel estimation, the frame error rate (FER) is only 1dB away from that with perfect channel information. When the number of allocated RBs is small and when QPSK or 16QAM is used, the performance is only 2 to 3dB away from that with perfect channel information.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129702528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
