Focusing on multi-channel coordination and allocation, this paper proposes a Road Side Unit (RSU)-coordinated multi-channel MAC with a centralized multi-criteria service channel allocation and scheduling scheme. By separating safety function from control function and further dividing safety messages into different types, the temporal-spatial division works better under the coordination of RSU. The main contribution of this work is introducing Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model to solve the transmission opportunity allocation problem under multiple criteria, maintaining a relatively high throughput even in densely populated scenarios, while QoS of high priority application is guaranteed. Simulation has been conducted to validate the proposed allocation scheme, and results show that it outperforms WAVE, especially in densely populated scenarios.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122407606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The goal of our study is to provide a flexible information delivery system concept that makes use of various contextual data around users to determine target receivers of the information specific to a certain context. This paper focuses on a system concept that uses finer-grained location-based screening of target receivers by integrated use of different access networks and also information of a user's transport mode (e.g., riding on a car, walking). The system is designed to provide necessary capabilities to enable information senders to provide the information by merely specifying the contexts of the information receivers. In this paper, we describe the proposed system architecture and the evaluation results.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"301 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122800793","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In future residential homes, electric drive vehicles, including Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), and all-electric vehicles (EVs), are expected to be common due to the growing energy cost and the need for improving efficiency and energy sustainability. In this context, a constrained optimization problem is formulated for home owners to take advantage of controlling when and how the EVs/PHEVs are charged or discharged in order to minimize their energy cost while keeping the vehicle ready for their daily commute. By taking into account the nonlinear characteristics of the battery charging and discharging, and realistic energy pricing from government agencies such as ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas), a nonlinear programming solution is derived using the sub-gradient search algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128863548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although peer-to-peer communication lets wireless nodes improves the functionality of the video streaming applications over WMNs, required level of Quality-of-Service (QoS) is one of the most important challenges in these systems. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce new or enhance existing techniques in order to increase QoS for providing better perceived video quality on receivers. In this paper, different loss recovery schemes in peer-to-peer live video streaming over wireless mesh networks are evaluated precisely. The obtained results show how the provided efficiency by each of these schemes can improve the level of the introduced QoS in peer-to-peer live video streaming over WMNs.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"72 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127369533","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
