In A-CCRM, the channel reservation time period is computed according to the periodicity of real-time traffics, and the channel reservation space is adjusted by jointly using the techniques of both power control and carrier sensing. Moreover, in order to improve the stability of channel reservation, the annouced channel reservation information is cooperatively relayed by the neighboring nodes of the transmitter. Simulation results show that compared with other MAC protocols based on channel reservation mechanisms, A-CCRM performs better in terms of throughput, energy efficiency and packet lost rate.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115622463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a method of automatic obstacles detection employing a camera mounted on a vehicle. Although various methods of obstacles detection have already been reported, they normally detect moving objects such as pedestrians and bicycles. In this paper, a method is proposed for detecting obstacles on a road, even if they are moving or static, by the use of background modeling and road region classification. Background modeling is often used to detect moving objects when a camera is static. In this paper, we apply it to a moving camera case in order to obtain foreground images. Then we calculate the camera motion parameters using the correspondence of feature points between two consecutive images and detect the road region using motion compensation. In this road region, we carry out regional classification. We can delete all objects which are not obstacles in the foreground images based on the result of the regional classification. In the performed experiments, it is shown that the proposed method is able to extract the shape of both static and moving obstacles in a frontal view from a car.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128041646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This requires scalable, efficient and effective solutions, so as to support a large number of nodes and timely deliver safety-warning messages. This paper presents and studies a protocol (MQ-Mapcast) for message forwarding, which leverages both node position and urban topological information so as to prevent potential broadcast storms. Based on a previous version of the protocol, MQ-Mapcast can support multiple concurrent traffic flows and background traffic, by means of a flexible queuing architecture. Simulations, in a realistic urban environment and in presence of urban obstructions, show that our scheme significantly outperforms classic geocasting of safety messages, in terms of packet delivery ratio, latency and channel usage.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133544035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A false information or incorrect notification can create traffic inconvenience on the road and may results into the loss of property and human lives. An authenticated node, which disseminates false information intentionally/ unintentionally is termed as misbehaving node. Prior knowledge about this kind of misbehaving node might not be possible in ephemeral network like VANET. It is required to have some verification mechanism in place, which can ensure the reliability of the information content of heartbeat messages, at least in terms of reported position and other vehicle kinematics. A good amount of research has been reported for the authentication of the node in VANET, but misbehavior detection research in VANET is still in nascent stage. The paper proposes a heartbeat message based short-term misbehavior detection scheme, which is capable of identifying the source of false information with very high probability. The proposed scheme has been implemented and analysed in simulation environment with the help of ns-2 and VanetMobiSim. The results are found to be encouraging and pave the way for further research in this direction.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134097398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new structure can greatly increase the air gap and lateral tolerance. Those merits are described and analyzed in this paper. It can be seen from analysis that a longer, wider magnetic core and wider coil width increase the coupling coefficient. A new circuit structure composed of LCL compensation and the buck circuit is also described in this paper. Current in the primary side of the circuit will vary with load demand. This way, higher efficiency can be achieved when power transferred is small. A 2kW prototype IPT system is built based on these techniques. When the air gap and lateral tolerance reaches 38cm and 40cm separately, the efficiency is acceptable.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"564 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134104642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For a multichannel loudspeaker system, the equalizer design is essential for reconstructing a nearly perfect sound field in the reverberation room. In this work, we propose a partial update adaptive algorithm based on the least-mean-square (LMS) approach and head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) to efficiently repress the indirect terms and separate the different timbres resulting from the in-vehicle multichannel playback system. Since HRTFs have played a crucial role in the spatial audio signal processing, introducing this model is shown to facilitate the complexity reduction for a highly nonlinear system. As a result, several examples of numerical design are provided to verify the characteristics of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":182453,"journal":{"name":"2012 International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117087671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
