Šperberga","doi":"10.1515/msac-2015-0006","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1515/msac-2015-0006","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract In this report the obtaining and properties of hightemperature porous ceramic materials using local carbonate clays and quartz sand resources was studied. Materials with two different porosities were obtained by using different synthesis temperatures. The test results show that these materials contain cordierite as their main crystalline phase. The porosity directly influences the compressive strength and it is greatly reduced when overall porosity increases. The CTE of obtained materials is low − about 3-10−6 1/°C. Keramikas materiāliem, kas veidoti sistēmā MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 ir plašs pielietojums dažādās jomās. Tā tas, piemēram, ir termiski stabilajai fāzei kordierītam (2MgO·2Al2O3·5SiO2). Kordierīta keramika ar tās zemo termiskās izplešanās koeficientu - TIK (α ≈ 1,0·10−6 -4,0·10−6 1/°C) droši iztur straujas temperatūras izmaiņas, tāpēc tā var tikt izmantota kā ugunsizturīgs materiāls. Dabā kordierīts ir reti sastopams minerāls, tādēļ šis kristāliskais materiāls ir jāiegūst sintētiski. Visplašāk izmantotā metode ir augsttemperatūras cietfāžu sintēze, retāk - sola-gēla sintēze un rekristalizācija no stiklveida kausējuma. Sintēzei tiek izmantotas dažādas magnija, alumīnija un silīcija oksīdus saturošas izejvielas, no kurām visbiežāk lietotās ir talks un kaolīns. Lai samazinātu nepieciešamo sintēzes temperatūru, oksīda maisījumiem tiek pievienoti dažādi kušņi, piemēram, B2O3. Šajā pētījumā ieguva augsti porainus kordierīta keramiskos materiālus, izmantojot vietējās izejvielas - karbonātu mālu un kvarca smiltis. Ieguva dažādas porainības materiālus, mainot sintēzes temperatūru. Rentgenfāžu analīzes rezultāti liecināja, ka šie materiāli saturēja kordierītu kā galveno kristālisko fāzi. Porainībai palielinoties, tā tieši ietekmēja spiedes stiprību, to ievērojami samazinot. Dzenis","doi":"10.7250/MSAC.2014.003","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.7250/MSAC.2014.003","url":null,"abstract":"The main goal of the presented study is the development of two agrofibres – hemp/flax and hemp/hemp shive reinforced hybrid biocomposites based on waterborne polymer matrix system – blends of biodegradable polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) and poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA). The correlation between agrofibre ratio and mechanical characteristics of hybrid agrofibre reinforced biocomposites has been established. The positive hybrid effect and optimal results in terms of mechanical strength of hemp/flax biocomposites have been found in 4:1 ratio. Treated carrots have been packed in several materials (hermetically sealed by breathing polymer film BOPP PropafilmTM P2GAF, cellulose based biodegradable NatureFlex NVS and Polilactid BIO-PLA Containers) and stored at the temperature of + 4 °C ± 1 °C for 10 days. Main quality parameters using standard methods have been analysed: total carotenoids and β-carotene, total phenolic, antioxidant capacity, soluble solids, mass loses, moisture, pH, firmness, colour, CO2 and O2 and microbiological parameters. Testing of the samples has been carried out before packaging and during storage. The process includes the transport of chromium(VI) anionic complexes from chloride acidic solutions through bulk liquid membranes at galvanostatic electrodialysis. Solutions of tri-n-octylamine with admixtures of di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid in 1,2-dichloroethane have been used as the liquid membranes. Effects of current density, chromium(VI) and acid concentration in the feed solution, carrier and admixture concentration in the liquid membrane,  type of acid in the stripping solution are studied, and optimum conditions are determined. Practically complete removal of chromium(VI) from the feed solution containing 0.01 mol/L  K 2 Cr 2 O 7 is achieved during 1.0 − 4.0 hours of electrodialysis. Maximum stripping degree of ~ 90 % is obtained under optimum conditions. Different properties of SCM have been analysed: specific surface area, surface morphology, particle size distribution, chemical composition and lime-combining capacity in the reaction with Ca(OH) 2 . Dominant polyphenols are catechine and chlorogenic acid. In the bilberry and red bilberry juices, the most common acids are citric, quinic and tartaric acids, in the cranberry juice – citric, quinic and malic acids. When bilberry juice is heat-treated for 30 min at 98 °C ± 1 °C, HMF content is 2-fold higher than in samples treated at 60 °C ± 1 °C. As resins modifiers polyvinylacetate emulsion (PVA), polyvinylbutiral (PVB) (powder and solution), rubber latex, adipic (Ad) and sebacic (Seb) acids have been utilized. For glued system shear strength and deformation, bending properties and impact strength have been tested. Widely described, viable but noncultivable (VBNC) state as a form of bacterial survival strategy in oligotrophic conditions is not considered in these estimations. The aim of the present research is to assess the effect of free chlorine disinfection on faecal indicator Escherichia coli in order to study the succession of cellular alterations in response to chlorine exposure. To determine the inactivation rates, cell ability to form colonies, ability to divide as such and metabolic activity have studied. 0.064 mg/L min -1 free chlorine has been needed to obtain 99 % inactivation of cultivable counts; however, 5 till 200 times higher disinfectant dose x contact time has been required to reduce cell ability to divide and metabolic activity, respectively. Ceramic system TiO 2 -ZrO 2 -SiO 2 has been synthesized via a sol-gel technology by hydrolysis of tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and zirconia propoxide and titanium isporopoxide solutions. The sols have been polymerized at room temperature to obtain gels and dried at 100 °C for 72 hours. Xerogel has been milled for 1 or 6 hours and axially pressed for nanoporous ceramic samples. Powders have been sintered at 800 °C or 1000 °C in air. 1 M hydrochloric acid and distilled water have been used as a catalyst to advance the hydrolysis and condensation reactions. All samples have been characterized by X-ray (XRD) diffraction, particle size distribution, crystallite size distribution, compressive strength.
