Power is needed as well as telecommunications are in our society today. Power head lines are parallel or crossed with telecommunication ones, so influences could be electric, magnetic or even resistive ones. All these interferences, individual and together, could cause injuries to telecommunication human operators or great damages on the IT equipment. This paper presents first a computational method used for a better overview on this subject, by assessing the values of the capacitive current, capacitive voltage, longitudinal induced voltage, resistive voltage, psofometric voltage. The architecture of the proposed system, both hardware and software, is briefly described after, as well as a teaching methodology proposed in order to present all these aspects to students or interested personnel. Some teaching examples are shown at the end of the paper.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122285332","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To observe these factors, course participant's self efficacy and reflection upon their learning were surveyed, in addition to the surveying of the metrics of student's characteristics during a Bachelor level credit course. The number of valid participants in the course was 40. First, two factors which measure self efficacy were extracted, and the course was evaluated using these factor scores and other indices of student's reflections. Second, to analyse the relationships among the variables, a causal analysis was conducted. The contributions of the factors of self efficacy and other student's characteristics were evaluated in several causal relationships. In particular, the effectiveness of note-taking activity was discussed.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134270895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective is to define a hybrid assessment approach that fosters assessment for learning for the learners and supports summative assessment for the teachers. The assessment framework is implemented within a collaborative learning platform. The peer assessment process focuses on the assessor role, which is identified as the most likely to engage learners and bring learning gains. It has been applied in a real situation for the semester project of a first year bachelor level course. The setting up and the running of this experiment are described and the results analyzed and discussed.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117286947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Particularly new to this approach is the combination of the students' autonomous assembly and commissioning of a 3D-printer, and the independent development of guidelines for this new technology regarding the design of components. This way the students will be able to gain first practical experiences with the data preparation, the additive manufacturing process itself and also the required post-treatment of the 3D-printed parts. To allow the students a significantly deeper insight into the functioning of 3D-printing, the workshop Rapid Prototyping developed a new approach in the course of which the students first assemble a construction kit for a 3D-printer themselves and then commission the printer. This enables the students to gain a better understanding of the functionality and configuration of additive manufacturing. In a next step, the students used the 3D-printers they constructed themselves to produce components which they take from a database. Finally, the experiences of the students in the course of the workshop will be evaluated to review the effectiveness of the new approach.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128477123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It results in one of the most relevant constraint to check for ensuring that if a learning object references another, the referenced one is also in the course positioned before the former. The CNFM, the French network for education in microelectronics and nanotechnologies, having a long experience in microelectronics education has to tackle this new challenge by shifting the curricula and the practical training of students to a more multidisciplinary way. An innovative strategy based on this approach is presently adopted, that means an orientation of the initial studies towards the applications by keeping the core of the skills. After a presentation of the context facilities, tools and skills of the CNFM network, this paper proposes an evolution of the microelectronic studies adapted to the approach of communicating and smart objects.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"379 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115179975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Kiva, a nonprofit organization, facilitates business loans for entrepreneurs in developing countries. To attract lenders, the website features the personal stories of loan seekers. These stories often create a clash between making sound business decisions and emotional reasoning. Students reviewed projects featured on the Kiva website and developed the rationale for projects they considered fundable. This learning experience allowed students to apply business concepts while testing their own critical reasoning and decision making skills as they explored alternative viewpoints and potential consequences. Students also gained a better understanding of emerging markets and base of pyramid conditions.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122259826","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It consists of an attempt to increase not only the numbers of young people entering higher education, but also the proportion from so-called “under-represented groups” (those from lower income families and some ethnic minorities (socio-economically disadvantaged), along with individuals with disabilities and mature students). The policies developed must align both with the European wide directives which all European countries should follow and the creation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). In this paper, widening participation in higher education is discussed in relation to the results from the SALEIE (Strategic ALignment of Electrical and Information Engineering in European Higher Education Institutions) project and specific responses from a survey amongst the partner institutions are identified and discussed. Conclusions and recommendations are then provided.","PeriodicalId":174013,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Information Technology Based Higher Education and Training (ITHET)","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-06-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134250391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
