This study therefore, sought to assess the impact of maintenance factors on sustainability of green buildings in Nairobi County. A survey to investigate; maintenance problems, maintenance policies, maintenance strategies and maintenance management tools/techniques in relation to sustainability of green buildings was delimited to a sample size of 25 LEED certified buildings in Nairobi County and 86 registered green building practitioners. The survey achieved 53% response rate and data analysis was carried out using a quantitative approach. The findings indicate that, the maintenance strategy variable seemed not to have a significant relationship with the outcome variable, hence it was dropped from the model. The final logistic regression model shows that, the odds for sustainability of green buildings are 1.44, 3.72 and 2.89 times higher when there is proper management of maintenance problems, adequate maintenance policies and proper maintenance management tools/techniques respectively, holding all other factors constant. The results highlighted the need of a paradigm shift in maintenance management of green buildings hence, the proposed framework in figure 2 that will enable maintenance personnel to execute their work in an efficient manner. From an academic perspective, the findings contribute to the pool of knowledge available in the area of green buildings maintenance.","PeriodicalId":173799,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Soft Computing and Engineering","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123979258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PMU provides high-precision data in which has shown applications in many fields. This study gives a comprehensive prospective of the application of PMU in fault detection. Basically, this paper evaluates the application of this data for fault detection. In which, it is crucial to detect the faults at their early stage so remedial reaction can be taken to reduce the potential damage. Second, the incorporation of the PMU data into state estimation algorithms to achieve more stable and accurate estimation algorithm. It is demonstrated, incorporating the PMU data will increase the observability of the system, however more comprehensive algorithm to monitor the system and detect the faults is needed.","PeriodicalId":173799,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Soft Computing and Engineering","volume":"414 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116228352","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most people find it difficult to think straight when they make calls and there is an echo. In addition to this frustration, the caller’s money, time, effort, energy is all wasted without compensation of any kind. Users are also frustrated by not receiving, transmitting or misunderstanding voice messages correctly. Given the need for voice quality in calls, it is of no importance when there is no proper communication. This study aims to reduce the threat of bad calls and improve the quality of voice calls. Nonetheless, we need to raise the filter duration to a high value in some real telecom’s environments with long echo delays. But, because of high computational complexity, it is not efficient in efficiency. In this study, we suggest a solution that uses a computational formula to compensate long echo, delay, packet loss, jitter and noise. The model designed was developed using MATLAB 2019b. This approach demonstrated productivity in terms of both voice quality and system speed.","PeriodicalId":173799,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Soft Computing and Engineering","volume":"72 4 Pt 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132435269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this research, a deep autoencoder-based multi-layer feed-forward neural network has been proposed to achieve image compression. The proposed neural network splits down a large image into small blocks and each block applies the normalization process as the preprocessing technique. Since this is an autoencoder-based neural network, each normalized block of pixels has been initialized as the input and the output of the neural network. The training process of the proposed network has been done for various block sizes and different saving percentages of various kinds of images by using the backpropagation algorithm. The output of the middle-hidden layer will be the compressed representation for each block of the image. The proposed model has been implemented using Python, Keras, and Tensor flow backend.","PeriodicalId":173799,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Soft Computing and Engineering","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127680663","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Software development life cycle (SDLC) is a well-defined and wellorganized process used to plan, develop, deploy and maintain high quality software systems. DevOps is one recent addition to SDLC that ensures that the development and operations team collaborate to accelerate the deployment and delivery of higher quality software products. This paper throws a light on how development processes are accelerated using DevOps tactics like continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. however, there are several factors that prevent the organizations from using these approaches. Discovering the evolution of DevOps and its continuous practices, gives a thorough understanding of the importance of the DevOps culture. Manual deployment and testing increase the feedback time of a commit operation. The paper discusses various tools available in the DevOps community that can be used to automate various stages of continuous integration and deployment pipeline, so that the feedback time is reduced.","PeriodicalId":173799,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Soft Computing and Engineering","volume":"629 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116471702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
