To assess the distribution of the discharge current between surge arresters, frequency-dependent models of surge arresters were used. The circuit simulation was performed using both oscillogram of real lightning current and traditional idealized lightning current waveform. If several metal oxide surge arresters are supposed to be connected in parallel, for example, to increase energy handling capability, they should be selected in the most careful way to have the same protection characteristics. It is shown that if the residual voltages, and therefore the voltage-current characteristics differ by only a few percent, this is enough for the discharge current flowing through one surge arrester to be several times greater than the current of the other one.","PeriodicalId":169630,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 7th International Conference on Energy Smart Systems (ESS)","volume":"4 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121092229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, HESM drive is more sensitive to coordinate and parametric perturbations that may have influence on its performance, efficiency. Also, it may have substantial impact on control quality. The work is devoted to the development of control laws based on an idea of the reversibility of the Lyapunov direct method for the stability analysis, and using the instantaneous value of energy as the predetermined Lyapunov function. It ensures operation with smaller sensitivity to the change of electrical machines parameters. The control system for extended motor speed control range with flux weakening has simple realization thank to this approach. Increasing installed capacity of wind power plants can provide new problems, like decreasing power quality. The reliability and efficiency of electrical equipment depends on the quality of electrical energy in distribution networks. For deciding this problem we considered a mathematical model wind power plant and created a model of the power grid with two wind power plants in PSCAD. We analyzed the influence of wind power generation on power quality in the power grid. The key issue of quality assurance energy is the problem of higher harmonics. The problem arose in connection with the widespread introduction of power electronics as the most effective means of providing the required operating modes of electromechanical and electrotechnological complexes. Due to the widespread use of funds power electronics in addition to harmonics generated by ferromagnetic elements, in distribution networks is amplified the influence of harmonics due to the characteristics of the key modes of the rectifiers, inverters, frequency converters, voltage level converters, and other units. We proposed to use diode clamped three-level Inverter.","PeriodicalId":169630,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 7th International Conference on Energy Smart Systems (ESS)","volume":"182 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130872842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the prior model development, some of the parameters are either chosen based on an educated guess or hit and trial method or even at random. This causes the mathematical model to drift away with experimental data. The optimized value of parameters can be found formulating a least-squares data fitting problem. In this paper, parameters of four mathematical quasi-linear thermal models of an air-cooled hydrogenerator are optimized. We have formulated the data fitting problem by using two different measurement data vectors. First, we have used a measurement data vector containing measurement of two of the states for finding optimized parameters and second, we have used two of the states and two of the algebraic variables. The optimized parameters found by using two different measurement data vectors are then used for fitting mathematical models with experimental data. The performance of model fitting is then compared using root mean square errors (RMSE) of least square errors. We found that the choice of data affects model fitting.","PeriodicalId":169630,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 7th International Conference on Energy Smart Systems (ESS)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132780118","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various deterministic and stochastic modeling techniques appear to be successfully used for economic and mathematical problems solution, particularly due to exploiting expedient for practical simulation probabilistic methods like Monte Carlo Simulation and Point Estimate methods. Both are extensively used to tackle uncertainties when modeling energy systems as well. The standard functions to represent the stochastic (random) parameters of the model are analyzed with the use of three-point estimation technique for the distribution functions of their probable values. A synthetic skewed probability density function was analytically constructed basing on the standard normal distribution, which is suitable for analytic representation of the predicted and/or statistical random sampling of the uncertain model parameters of energy system with renewables, and analytical expressions were obtained to compute the moments of proposed synthetic probability function.","PeriodicalId":169630,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 7th International Conference on Energy Smart Systems (ESS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133290357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
