Optimization of their performance is based on accurate modeling of the static and dynamic behavior of magnetostriction. This paper describes the modelling and the finite element analysis of magnetostriction for a magnetoestrictive and piezoelectric vibration energy harvester employing twin lateral Terfeonl-DPZT laminate composite. The presented design can make the best use of the magnetic field produced by the magnets. In addition, the volume of the harvester does not increase with the placement of the twin transducers since they are placed in the air gap between the magnets. A three dimensional model is built to investigate the response of the laminate composite and to determine the optimal initial position of the transducers at the static equilibrium.","PeriodicalId":168063,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130436221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is based on a custom electronic instrumentation, post processing software and a commercial three electrodes gold sensor. The designed electronic is based on a potentiostat instrumentation supported by a real time platform connected to a remote computer, which allows the instrumentation control, real time monitoring data and its posterior resultant analysis. Moreover, the whole system has been characterized and validated using different sensors and biocompatible materials. The study consists on a complete EIS experience in order to get a full spectrum analysis of impedance behavior in terms of magnitude and phase. As a result, we were able to detect impedance with an average error of less than 3% and a SNR rejection of -40 dB in a frequency working range of 10 Hz to 100 kHz. This integrated approach pushes forward the development of truly autonomous point-of-care devices relying on impedance spectrometry detection.","PeriodicalId":168063,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121321769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such system-on-chip, all individual components of a target control system can be integrated into a single silicon die at lowest level, which in turn contributes in saving the substantial space and reduces power consumption and production costs. With the consideration of the miniaturization of safety-related systems into system-on-chips, where usually complete redundant architectures along with memories and interfaces are integrated into small silicon structures, many advantages can be taken into account. These advantages extend to all levels of the development cycle. In the present paper, a concept for on-chip safety system architecture is presented briefly. Primarily, a qualitative evaluation and analysis of the presented architecture is explicitly focused and discussed. The evaluation and analysis is based on a comparison to a similar conventional discrete safety-related architecture.","PeriodicalId":168063,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115334310","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conductive multiwalled carbon nanotubes / Poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polymerized with poly(4-styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) films were prepared and deposited on flexible polymer substrates (Kapton HN, 250 μm) by drop casting and the aqueous dispersions with different amounts of MWCNTs in PEDOT:PSS were prepared at different sonication times. The influences of the MWCNT load on the film properties such as electrical conductivity; strain sensitivity and hysteresis were investigated. Negative resistance coefficient was observed when the films are subjected to a force from 10 N to 110 N. Furthermore, it was observed that at low amounts of MWCNTs dispersed in PEDOT:PSS with sonication time of 15 min have better strain sensitivity then pure PEDOT:PSS and other prepared thin film composites. Moreover, the strain sensitivity was found to be strongly dependent on the MWCNT concentration. In general, MWCNT/PEDOT:PSS films have potential as a highly linear strain sensitive material.","PeriodicalId":168063,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14)","volume":"128 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115925552","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developed system uses acoustic signals beyond the audible range to localize COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) smart phones. The sound receivers installed with the infrastructure are connected using a Wi-Fi network. Furthermore, the sound receivers synchronize the clocks and exchange the time differences of arrival of the received sound signals from the Wi-Fi network. In this way, using an iterative multilateration algorithm, the locations of smart phones are calculated. We present our developed novel receiver hardware. The integrated single-board computer based on ARM replaces the external computer units to synchronize the receivers with the network and calculates the position via a TDoA (Time Difference of Arrival) algorithm. By powering the receivers via power-over-Ethernet the installation effort is minimized. The integrated inertial sensors of the smart phone can be used to calculate the position in a non-line of sight condition. Therefore different methods are available to support the position calculation for ASSIST.","PeriodicalId":168063,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125437740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system consist of a pyroelectric sensor and a temperature sensor. The pyroelectric convert thermal variations into electrical signals so that thermally induced charge is measured and monitored and heat variation can be obtained. Temperature is independently obtained with thermistors. Combining heat and temperature measurements, it is possible to infer thermal thermodynamic entropy variations in the sensor. Two types of measurements are carried out: volume, to measure entropy bulk changes and surface, to measure entropy flux through the system wall. Model simulations agree with experimental results. These results open the possibility to entropy monitoring in thermal process to improve systems performance.","PeriodicalId":168063,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 11th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD14)","volume":"37 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128182933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For example, for the passenger comfort only the sub-model of the suspension is needed. In this context, this paper deals with a splitting of dynamic model for vehicle into five sub-models each one describing a subsystems regrouped in three blocks. The novelty of this idea consists in exploiting the splitting dynamic model of vehicle to develop a partial state observers. For the estimation we use the High Order Sliding Mode Observers.
