Banks which didn’t succeed the risk management have been able to take actions to reduce their effectiveness, either by shifting to riskier assets within the same weighting band or through capital arbitrage. It looks at two possible side effects. Firstly, whether in some periods capital requirements may have had the effect of constraining bank lending thereby causing a credit crunch. Secondly, the introduction of fixed minimum requirements for banks affected competitiveness with relative forms of intermediation.","PeriodicalId":163871,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Asian Business Strategy","volume":" 19","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113948181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The industry is witnessing emergence of developing countries such as India, Brazil and China as players pivoted to play major role in future. Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SME) in India have the potential to garner a major share in Tier-3 and Tier-4 sectors of aerospace value chain. Overseas aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing have recognized the competencies and skills India has in areas such as engineering, production, maintenance & service, etc. In this backdrop, this paper explores the global scenario of SMEs in some of the successful clusters. Some of the prominent clusters discussed in this paper include the clusters at California & Seattle, Toulouse, Hamburg and Chengdu. This would help us in drawing useful lessons for the Bangalore cluster, which is highlighted in the paper. An analysis is done to identify major challenges that influence the future growth prospects of aerospace industry in Bangalore namely Infrastructure, Finance, Technology and Manpower. A summary and discussion of the opportunities and challenges faced by the Bangalore aerospace cluster and draws conclusions, which have a bearing on policy measures.","PeriodicalId":163871,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Asian Business Strategy","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132675673","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many approaches to study organizational commitment, and one of them is an individual difference approach. Since organizational commitment is one kind of job attitudes, and personality traits might predispose individual to experience raised or lowered levels of his or her organizational commitment. In connection to the previous studies, this research is aimed to examine the association among big five personality traits (FFM with dimensions of the organizational commitment. A questionnaire was adopted from the previous studies and a total number of 150 responses were gathered from the lecturer/supervisors working in public universities located in Lahore, Pakistan. The results of the research demonstrated that there is a significant relationship between FFM and organizational commitment dimensions. Furthermore, the results of stepwise regression analyses showed that conscientiousness and openness to experience are positively associated with affective commitment. Openness to experience is negatively linked to continuance commitment, extroversion, and neuroticism is negatively associated with normative commitment.","PeriodicalId":163871,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Asian Business Strategy","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129860171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The accounting profession experienced controversial the deepest crisis in its history with the discovery that accountants had acceded in historic fictitious financial reporting by corporate giants such as Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, Parmalat and others. The long term destruction inflicted on these professions is still being felt. However the view among those preparing to enter their particular profession, e.g. they are enrolled in a police academy, seminary, college or higher learning institution, is a crucial significance. Since the accounting students will be the future members of the accounting profession and are prone to be involved literally in the corporate scandals, their ethical behavior can be used to measure ethical conduct. Thus, using primary data collection through questionnaire survey on accounting students in one of the Malaysian government-linked university and partial least square (PLS) tool, the aims of the study is to investigate the influence of personality traits towards love of money (perception to money) and ethics.","PeriodicalId":163871,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Asian Business Strategy","volume":"10 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114129892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using celebrities as product endorsers has become one such important way. Therefore, the selection of the most suitable celebrity endorsers becomes an important issue that businesses and advertising agencies have to face. In this paper, based on our review of a handful of representative celebrity selection models, we analyze why and how celebrity endorsers would exert persuasion towards target consumers. We also identify key factors that would influence endorsers’ persuasiveness in advertising. More importantly, we introduce our new “Ideal Match-Up Model” for celebrity endorser selection, and apply a suppositional example to illustrate how this model can work in various cases of practical use.","PeriodicalId":163871,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Asian Business Strategy","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126607186","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
