Yanagihara method is a popular method for the measurement of facial paralysis in Japan. In this method, the patient is asked to make 10 different expressions and the doctor applies the score to each expression. Typical sample expression facial images for different scores are important for educations and references. Since it is not possible to use patient's images as typical sample images, we propose a facial paralysis modeling method based on image warping to generate a virtual expression image of facial paralysis as same as real expression of facial paralysis. We transform the movement or expression of the patient to an average facial image by using both B-spline warping and piece-wise affine transform.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131607988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

MR compatibility test of US motors (Shinsei USR 30 and USR 60) were performed in 3T MRI scanner under baseline, power-off, power-on, and moving configurations with mounting orientations parallel and perpendicular to the longitudinal bore axis. Normalized SNR was used to calculate the MR compatibility of US motors. The results show that the safe distances for USR 30 and USR 60 from the isocenter are 15cm and 20cm, respectively. Moving configuration decreased the normalized SNR by 15%-25%. In the same mounting orientation, three imaging sequences performed differently in terms of quality of MR images. To conclude, the Shinsei USR 30 and USR 60 are suitable for providing actuation of MRI-guided surgical robot during real-time imaging, and the MR compatibility could be improved by selecting suitable safe distance and mounting orientation.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"183 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122857015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our work, the solid nanopore in silicon nitride membranes are fabricated and characterized by experiments. Firstly, the free-standing silicon nitride membranes are designed and etched by delicate techniques. Then, the free-standing membranes are drilled by focus ion beam. A set of nanopores with varied diameters and shapes are fabricated by different acting time of focused ion beam. These nanopores display the high quality of morphologies and electric signals. In addition of DNA, a series of evident block currents appear corresponding to the translocation of single DNA molecule through the pore. The results will shed light on the engineering of nanopore devices for single-molecule sensing.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116725827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we proposed an efficient algorithm: CSRule, for mining closed strong association rules based on merging strategies. Firstly, it generates all pairs of association rules which only have two resources; secondly, all the closed strong association rules are mind using merging strategies. In order to improve the mining efficiency of the algorithm, CSRule algorithm adopts several pruning strategies to mine closed strong association rules without candidate maintenance. For the escape of low efficiency on secondary mining based on definition, CSRule algorithm can mine closed strong association rules at one time. The experimental results show our algorithm is more efficient than traditional algorithm.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114591013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its effectiveness is the core of system task effectives. In this paper we proposed a new bicluster mining algorithm: DoCluster, to effectively mine all biclusters with maximal variant usage rate and low usage rate from the discrete function-resource matrix. Firstly, DoCluster algorithm constructs a sample weighted graph which includes all resource collections between two samples that meet the definition of variant usage rate or low usage rate; secondly, all biclusters with maximal variant usage rate and low usage rate satisfying the definition are mined by using sample-growth and depth-first method in the constructed weighted graph. To improve the mining efficiency of the algorithm, DoCluster algorithm uses multiple pruning strategies to ensure the mining of maximal bicluster without candidate maintenance. The experimental results show our algorithm is more efficient than other two algorithms.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115176849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Once tampered, restoring the entire database usually cost much and researches based on these tampered sequences will cause disastrous consequences. This paper proposes a reversible data hiding method on DNA sequences and a fragile watermarking scheme that is based on that method. By using these methods, tampered area(s) in a DNA sequence can easily be localized. Even further, if the tampering rate is low, the original sequence can be exactly retrieved. Then by sending the retrieved sequence back, the tampered database will be restored. Our method can be applied to an online database. When the client downloads a certain DNA sequence, which may be tampered during transmission, the proposed method can help to check if the sequence is tampered and recover the tampered region.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126655426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sample genes (dimensionalities) play a fundamental role in classification. Feature selection technologies used to reduce gene numbers and find informative genes have been presented in recent years. But the performance of feature selection in gene classification research is still controversial. In this study, a classification algorithm based on the two-layer particle swarm optimization (TLPSO) is established to classify the uncertain training sample sets obtained from three gene expression datasets which contain the leukemia, diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and multi-class tumors dataset respectively with the exponential increasing of gene numbers. Compared the results obtained by using the particle swarm optimization (PSO), the classification stability and accuracy of the results based on the proposed TLPSO classification algorithm is improved significantly and more information to clinicians for choosing more appropriate treatment can extracted.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121787155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective of feature selection includes improving prediction accuracy, accelerating classification speed, and gaining better understanding of the features. Feature selection methods are often divided into three categories: filter methods, wrapper methods, and embedded methods. In this paper, we propose a simple leave-one-feature-out wrapper method for feature selection. The main goal is to improve prediction accuracy. A distinctive feature of our method is that the number of cross validation trainings is a user controlled constant multiple of the number of features. The strategy can be applied to any classifiers and the idea is intuitive. Given the wide availability of off-the-shelf machine learning software packages and computing power, the proposed simple method may be particularly attractive to practitioners. Numerical experiments are included to show the simple usage and the effectiveness of the method.","PeriodicalId":163211,"journal":{"name":"2013 6th International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Informatics","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131279494","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
