A university's repository usually contains hundreds of such lecture videos. Each lecture video is typically an hour's duration and is often monolithic. It is cumbersome for students to search through an entire video, or across many videos, in order to find portions of their immediate interest. It is desirable to have a system that takes user-given keywords as a query and provides a link to not only the corresponding lecture videos but also to the section within the video. In order to do this, lecture videos are sometimes tagged with meta-data to enable easy identification of the different sections. However, such tagging is often done manually and is a time-consuming process. In this paper, we propose a technique to automatically generate tags for lecture videos. This is based on generating speech transcripts automatically using a speech recognition engine and automatic indexing and search of the transcripts. We also describe our system implemented for easily browsing through a lecture video repository. Our system takes keywords from users as a query and returns a list of videos as the results. In each video of the retrieved list, the portion of the video that matches the query is highlighted so that users can easily navigate to that location within the video. Following the approach and using open source tools mentioned in the paper, a lecture video repository can provide features for users to access the content required by them easily. We used open source libraries available for speech recognition and text search purposes. They can be prolific only if regular teachers and educators (who are not professional content creators) are able to easily create and use learning content. Standards such as SCORM allow reusable learning objects (RLOs) to be created and shared across the e-learning community. However, the existing tools and technologies focus on reuse only from a tool interoperability perspective. It is not possible today to reuse only a part of an existing RLO or even create new RLOs from existing RLOs without resorting to cut-paste. Moreover, most of the tools are standalone tools that work on local installations. In this paper, we describe a software platform and a web-based assembling tool that helps overcome these limitations. Sustaining this growth requires technically trained professionals in large number. It requires providing education and training to population in increasing number. The technological advancement can be of great help in this regard. This paper studies and evaluates Technology Enhanced learning, with particular reference to NPTEL -- a portal dedicated to technical e-content -- across eight different Engineering Colleges of India located in Gujarat. Based on a comprehensive survey conducted across the Engineering Colleges with over 850 respondents, this study is a quantitative analysis of the findings and preferences articulated by students and faculty members. The questions pertain to the use and features of e content such as NPTEL used by students. Questions related to faculty quality, need for online educational services, content, technologies, pedagogies, research and extension are also posed to the sample. The responses of 287 NPTEL users out of the 875 respondents are compared across gender, institution, income level and such other factors. There are educational resources broker systems based on educational meta-data standards, which search, locate and deliver educational resources. In this paper, we justify the need of a broker system that can also provide collaborative sharing of educational resources, along with knowledge representation behind those educational resources among and within educational institutions. This system especially caters to two usage scenarios: (a) one where it will assist students in locating resources and (b) one where it will assist students in exploring the concepts behind a given educational resource. We have described the system's functional and process architecture and provided some screens of the implemented system for both contributors and users. This trend cuts across all departments and schools in the university system. In this study, perspective of students from business schools, towards expectations and satisfaction from information and communication technologies usage, was studied. The perception was taken at two times. One was before the use of a learning management system, Moodle, in course management and delivery and the other was after using Moodle. The findings indicated that there is a gap between what is expected and what is being given in terms of ICT usage. When searching for lecture material on a given topic, it would be useful if the repository also indicates the topics that are pre-requisites. In this paper we present a technique that automatically constructs the ontology (dependency graph) from the given lecture notes. We show how this ontology can be used to identify the pre-requisites and follow-up modules for a given query (lecture topic). We also provide the user with a dependency graph which gives a conceptual view of the domain. Our system extracts the concepts using term frequency inverse document frequency (tf-idf) weighting scheme and then determines the associations among concepts using apriori algorithm.
