Among these, combined gaseous dielectric such as SF6/N2, N2/CO2, and CO2 have proven their suitability as a substitute for pure SF6. The once estimation of electric arc profile in circuit breaker with different gaseous medium is substantial for designing and performance of them, during past decades many research is performed, which some of them lead to the black box models. Legros-Genon is the only one of black box models which is able to consider stochastic behaviour of electrical arc construction process. On the one hand, as parameters estimation methods for black box models are mathematical, which obtained from one or several limited test shot, stochastic process of electrical arc construction can't be considered. On the other hand conventional black box models haven't enough flexibility to modify themselves with operational conditions. In this paper alongside comprehensive review and simulation of black box models in a typical CO2 circuit breaker, the advantages of Legros-Genon model, which described by means of Weibull distribution function, versus conventional models is investigated.","PeriodicalId":161929,"journal":{"name":"2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125760066","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The efficiency is usually defined in the form of throughput, energy efficiency or spectrum efficiency. With the advent of dynamic spectrum access concept in wireless networks, efficiency in such networks must be defined in order to best consider all the important metrics involved. For example, many works in cognitive radio network (CRN) neglect the interference due to primary user returns to the frequency band, and moreover; nobody has considered missed idle times during waiting throughout the entire current frame when the channel is sensed busy at the beginning. Both mentioned interference and missed opportunities depend on primary user traffic characteristics, secondary network communication protocol, sensing time and transmission time. Clearly, to consider them, we define and formulate a new efficiency metric in network dynamic access strategy called Access Efficiency in order to consider both interference, sensing time and missed opportunities due to transmission and waiting times respectively. Then, the optimized values for sensing and transmission time are computed using genetic algorithm in order to maximize Access Efficiency. The optimization point concurrently reduces missed idle times and maximizes successful transmission times (conventional throughput). It is obvious that a network protocol with higher Access Efficiency misses less idle times and imposes less collision on users.","PeriodicalId":161929,"journal":{"name":"2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128237374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Throughout their lifetimes, CBs experience thermal and mechanical stresses and other factors. The operation of CBs under short-circuit currents or the high number of times of performance at a fraction of short-circuit currents can lead to gradual deterioration of the inner parts of the interruption chamber such as the main and arc contacts. Dynamic resistance measurement test is an effective method to assess the condition of contacts in CBs. This paper attempted to examine the effect of erosion in moving arc contacts through analysis of dynamic strength properties measured from a real 24 kV gas CB. This paper involved the essential characteristics for assessing the condition of arc contacts in a CB through wavelet analysis and the prediction of erosion in arc contacts.","PeriodicalId":161929,"journal":{"name":"2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128243421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, new concepts such as flexibility are introduced to properly cover these problems. In this paper, a recently announced short-term flexibility product, namely, “Flexible ramping product” (FRP) in power markets is put under investigation from different aspects. FRP is the capacity reserved to meet next upcoming five-minute net load (load minus intermittent supply) uncertainty. Therefore, at first, the mathematical model of real-time dispatch (RTD) problem in presence of the FRP is formulated. Modeling this problem as a linear programming (LP) optimization problem, it is shown how the price of FRP and energy cost can be extracted for different scenarios. The effectiveness of presented algorithm for RTD problem is examined on different test systems. Based on the results, it is discussed that how the presence of FRP can reduce overall costs and price spikes as well as decreasing load and wind curtailment levels.","PeriodicalId":161929,"journal":{"name":"2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129331195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we propose a new approach in non-parametric scene parsing. Typical non-parametric scene parsing approaches have two main steps: retrieving similar images to test image and label transferring from retrieved images to the test image. In our approach, in the label transferring step, we use an objective function in which object level and context level information are incorporated. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a new contextual term which it is adapted to the employed similarity distance measure in the retrieval stage. Also, we propose a new adaptive weighting procedure which balances the effectiveness of object-level and context level terms in the objective function. To evaluate the proposed approach, it is applied on the MSRC-21 datasets. The obtained results show that our approach outperforms comparable state-of-the-art nonparametric approaches.","PeriodicalId":161929,"journal":{"name":"2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127298218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In reuse strategy, the D2D communication takes place directly between D2D pair sharing the whole resources together with the cellular user, while in dedicated strategy, the direct D2D communication is given half of the resources. Enabling cellular strategy, however, the data of D2D communication goes through the Base Station (BS). In this study, we take into account both FD and half-duplex (HD) modes incorporating into reuse, dedicated and cellular strategies, and formulate the resource allocation problem in a two-tier system. Aiming to maximize the system throughput, we analyze the system adopting different duplex-modes and resource allocation strategies. Simulation results demonstrate that the superiority of FD communication is contingent to self-interference (SI) cancelation factor. Through deriving geographical patterns, we analyze the effect of location of cellular user on mode selection strategy taken by D2D pair to pick the best strategy. The results show that the dedicated strategy is the best choice when the cellular user is close to the D2D pair, while the reuse strategy is dominant, when opposite state holds. Furthermore, the results reveal that the system achieves the maximum throughput under reuse strategy when the cellular user is located close to BS.","PeriodicalId":161929,"journal":{"name":"2017 Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering (ICEE)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127504347","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
