PENDAHULUAN Karies yaitu penyakit yang ada pada jaringan keras gigi yang diawali dengan proses pembentukan plak secara fisiologis dan dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Karies dapat timbul karena empat faktor, yaitu host atau tempat melekatnya karies, mikroorganisme, lingkungan, serta waktu paparan terjadinya karies1. Untuk pencegahan timbulnya karies gigi, sebaiknya setiap orang menyikat gigi dengan benar. Penelitian Risett Kesehatan Dasar Nasional (Riskesdas) tahun 2018 menunjukkan bahwa indeks DMFT senilai 1,9 di kelompok usia 12 tahun dan 2,4 pada kelompok usia 15 tahun. Indeks tersebut mengalami peningkatan dari hasil riset tahun 2013 yaitu sebesar 1,4 di kelompok usia 12 tahun dan sebesar 1,5 di kelompok usia 15 tahun2. Minimnya pengetahuan mengenai langkah melindungi kesehatan gigi dan mulut dapat menjadi salah satu pemicu timbulnya karies anak3. Pendidikan untuk anak terkait kesehatan gigi diupayakan dengan preventif dan promotif salah satunya melalui Dental Health Education (DHE)4. Acrylic resin has a weakness, namely the surface of the acrylic resin that can trigger the growth of bacteria and Candida albicans. Candida albicans has an important role in the occurrence of denture stomatitis. Epidemiological studies show the prevalence of denture stomatitis is quite high, ranging from 30%-50% in denture users. Innovation is needed to inhibit the growth of Candida albicans on acrylic resin, one of which is the use of ginger extract. Ginger can be antifungal because of the content of phenols and essential oils. Objective: To determine the effect of ginger extract (Zingiber ofcinale Rosc.) on Candida albicans on heat cured acrylic resin. Methods: This research design was a post test only control group design with a total sample of 24 samples. There was 3 treatment groups and 1 control group. Statistical test used One-way ANOVA Welch with post hoc Games-Howell test. Results: The results showed that there was a significant effect of 25% and 50% ginger extract on Candida albicans on heat cured acrylic resin. Excessive bleeding can hinder wound healing. For the surgeon to achieve rapid and effective hemostasis is important. Therefore, a topical hemocoagulation solution is given to help control surface bleeding by applying it locally. One such topical agent is Feracrylum. Feracrylum is a polymer of polyacrylic acid containing 0.05 to 0.5% iron. Feracrylum iron element will react with albumin and then convert water-soluble fibrinogen into water-insoluble fibrin which then forms a coagulum. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Feracrylum 1% and Feracrylum 4% in stopping bleeding after gingival incision. Method: This study is a true experimental study that includes 3 treatment groups, namely the group without being given hemostatic agents, the group being given Feracrylum 1%, and the group being given Feracrylum 4%, each group consisting of 9 rats. Data were collected by calculating the bleeding time from the start of bleeding until the bleeding stopped after the gingival incision using a stopwatch and then recorded. Data analysis using Shapiro-Wilk, homogeneity test using Levene Test, nonparametric test using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney. Result: The results showed that the average bleeding time in the group without hemostatic agents, the group receiving 1% Feracrylum, and the group receiving Feracrylum 4% was 221 seconds, 103 seconds, and 50 seconds. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney showed that there was a significant difference in bleeding time between groups. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the application of Feracrylum 4% was faster in stopping bleeding compared to the application of Feracrylum 1% after gingival incision in wistar rats.","PeriodicalId":156596,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Medali","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115968527","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
