Nance in the United States and Margaret B. Horan in Australia [1]. As a rare X-linked hereditary disorder, NHS is characterized by a constellation of ophthalmologic features, dental anomalies, facial dysmorphism, and intellectual delay [1,2]. With fewer than 70 NHS families described in the existing literature, the disease prevalence and incidence remain elusive. Mutations in the causative NHS gene, mapping to chromosome region Xp22.13, impair regulation of midbrain, retina, lens, tooth, and craniofacial development [1,4].","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"83 1","pages":"026-030"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83882732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

About 15 years duration of the finding, as the lesion being suspected clinically and dermatoscopically for cutaneous melanoma. The patient was initially treated with a surgical margin of 0.5 cm in all directions, with a tumor thickness of 3 mm immediately established afterwards. The subsequent surgical session 9 days later (as recommended by the AJCC) included: 1) removal of 4 sentinel lymph nodes: 3 of them located infrascapularly and one axillary apically to the left and 2) reexcision of the primary surgical wound with a safety margin of 1.5 cm in all directions. Lymph node involvement data are lacking and the patient is staged as IIA (T3a N0M0). Using a worldwide medical database as PubMed/Medline, it could be at least suggested that the determination of the tumor thickness in clinically and dermatoscopically indicative for melanoma cutaneous lesions (especially when they are over 2 or 3 mm) should not be a serious challenge. In pigmented lesions with clear clinical and dermatoscopic data in the direction of cutaneous melanoma, the role of high-frequency pre-operative ultrasound could be essential for reducing the number of surgical sessions from two to one. The case presented is indicative of how lesions with similar clinical and dermatoscopic morphology could be treated and how guidelines can be individually optimized on the basis of the individual clinical experience. In fact, it turns out that one-step melanoma surgery (OSMS) could be a good therapeutic option in a specific type of patient.","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"7 1","pages":"1-6"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87702914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We previously found that ethanol Extracts of Mallotus PhilippinensisBark (EMPB) promoted migration of mesenchymal stem cells and improved wound healing probably through anti-inflammatory action. However, direct evidence of the anti-inflammatory effect of EMPB and the underlying mechanisms of this action remain unknown. In the present study, we evaluated whether EMPB has an effective action on anti-inflammation using an in vitro and in vivo model. We found that topical application of EMPB improved house dust mite-induced AD-like skin inflammation in NC/Nga mice. In addition, EMPB significantly inhibited various kinds of inflammatory mediators such as interleukin-1ß, inducible nitric oxide synthases, and nuclear factorkappa B in lipopolysaccharide-stimulated macrophage cells. Moreover, EMPB exhibited marked radical scavenging ability. Taken together, these results suggest that EMPB may be useful in the treatment of skin inflammatory diseases such as AD.","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"18 1","pages":"1-8"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86111502","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although it displays an array of side effects like progressive vascularisation, silicon granules in corneal stroma and corneal decompensation, the lesser known band shaped keratopathy is visually endangering and requires a new management protocol, as was seen in our case. \u0000Case: A 15-year-old girl with vision 6/60 in both eyes diagnosed with bilateral congenital cataract and retinal detachment underwent microincision vitrectomy, lensectomy along with perfluorocarbon and intravitreal silicon oil injection in the right eye under general anaesthesia. Calcific band shaped keratopathy was seen after 8 months which began as fine dust like deposits coalescing to form a horizontal band. A neutral, autoclaved solution of 0.5% EDTA chelating agent was spread over the cornea and deposits scraped under aseptic precautions after removing the superficial epithelium. A bandage contact lens was placed to enable healing.","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"34 11 1","pages":"018-020"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82782031","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These studies have more emphasis on physical aspects, while the cognitive and psychological components may also be effective. Objectives: The present study was conducted to answer the question whether or not injury can be predicted in volleyball athletes through physical and cognitive components. Methods: For this purpose, 50 volleyball players with the age range of 18 to 25 years old participated in the study. The subjects were evaluated using Barratt impulsiveness scale, Functional movement screen and continuous performance test (for sustained attention). Then, the injuries occurrence were recorded. Furthermore, logistic regression test was run to predict injury in athletes and the bi-serial correlation coefficient was used to investigate the relationship between the factors. Results: The findings showed that there was a significant negative correlation between functional movement screen scores and injuries occurrence. There was also a significant positive correlation between omission and commission errors and injury occurrence, meaning that alongside the increase in the omission and commission errors, the injury occurrence increased; however, there was no significant relationship between the scores of Barratt impulsiveness scale and the injury occurrence. Conclusions: The findings of this study showed that mental and cognitive components, along with the physical factor, play a significant role in injury occurrence in volleyball players, so it is better to consider it in prevention and rehabilitation programs.","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"94 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-04-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90898724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is thought to be an autoimmune process triggered by unknown genetic and/or environmental factors that attack hair follicles of the scalp. LPP has been reported to mimic or present in association with various autoimmune diseases and immunomodulatory therapies. We present two atypical case of LPP in Caucasian patients; the first is a patient with generalized pruritus, skin eruptions, and scalp hair loss. Biopsy of the lesions revealed exocytosis of atypical lymphocytes at the Dermo-Epidermal Junction (DEJ) and formation of small Pautrier’s microabscesses in the interfollicular epidermis as well as a robust lymphocytic inflammatory infiltrate with destruction of perifollicular appendages. This led us to the diagnosis of LPP-like Folliculotropic Mycosis Fungoides (FMF). The second case is a patient with a history of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) who presented clinically with perifollicular erythema and alopecic patches, with loss of follicular ostia on the frontal and vertex scalp and evidence of follicular tufting. Histologically, she had decreased number of follicles with a peri-infundibular lymphocytic infiltrate and vacuolization at the Dermoepidermal Junction (DEJ) and there was also thickening of the basement membrane highlighted with a periodic acidic Schiff stain. This led to a diagnosis of SLE/LPP overlap.","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"11 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87775865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Liposuction and cosmetic surgery were considered the mainstay for elimination of unwanted submental fat. However, these procedures are invasive and associated with major complications like prolonged recovery times, and the risk of contour irregularities. In 2015, Kybella (deoxycholic acid) was approved as a first-in-class injectable agent for the treatment of submental fullness. Although, it is non-invasive and has less complications than plastic surgery, it is still associated with adverse effects such as pain, swelling/edema, and bruising. The most concerning adverse effect for patients is the prolonged inflammation that may occur for up to 2 weeks post-injection. Objective: This is a comparison trial of deoxycholic acid injections with or without triamcinolone acetate for the reduction of submental fat in one patient. The study will also assess the effect of triamcinolone acetate on post-injection inflammation associated with deoxycholic acid injection in the treatment of submental fullness. Method: A 35-year-old female presented for evaluation of submental fullness and opted for treatment with Kybella. Her right submental treatment area was injected with 2ml of deoxycholic acid 10mg/ml plus 0.2ml triamcinolone acetate. The left submental treatment area was treated with 2ml of deoxycholic acid 10mg/ ml alone. The patient was observed over a duration of 3 months to evaluate inflammation and treatment response between the two treatment zones. Results: This split-neck study resulted in decreased postinjection swelling. However, at 3-month follow-up, there was no clinical improvement to the submental fullness bilaterally. Limitations: Small sample size, lack of objective measures, possible diffusion between treatment zones, and prior deoxycholic acid treatment. Conclusion: Triamcinolone can decrease post-injection swelling if given as an adjunct to Kybella treatment.","PeriodicalId":15586,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Clinical Research","volume":"43 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79423661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
