The first part attempts to clarify the meaning of the terms \"rationality\" and \"rationalization\" in their relation to the problems of modern management and \"rationalizing management technologies\" in connection with the historical experience of theorizing and research in this field of science and practice. At the same time, we proceed from the idea that clarification of the term \"rationalizing management technologies\" is possible only through its corre-lation with the terms \"rationality\" and \"rationalization\", on the basis of theoretical and methodological approaches contained in the works of the classics of sociological thought. This position is of great theoretical, methodological and practical im-portance in connection with the research of the problem of reforming the domestic management system in the context of modern challenges by the Center for Sociology and Management of IS RAS. Speaking about the coherence of the specified terms, we consider the term \"rationality\" as a basic concept in relation to the later emerged term \"rationalization\". In addition, the term is now much more developed, clarified and unambiguous than the term \"rationalization\". It comes from the Latin terms ratio – reason and rationalis – reasonable . In a broad sense, the term \"rational \"is consid-ered in the European tradition in relation to human behavior as close in meaning to such concepts as \"logically reasonable\" or \"scientifically justified\". {"title":"The problem of reforming the work of the power-management vertical in the regions of the Russian Federation with different levels of socio-cultural modernization","authors":"A. The article represents preliminary generalization of results of the research of problems of reforming the work of the power-management vertical in the country by the Center for Sociology of Management and Social Technologies of the Institute of Scociology of RAS which belongs to the main area of our social sciences – obtain-ing new knowledge regarding the laws of survival and sustainable civilizational development of Russian society. The theoretical and methodological basis for such a study is the idea of the sociological patterns of formation, implementation and timely review of the “civil contract” between the government and society (in the historically evolving internal and exter-nal conditions, challenges and threats). Situationally it turned out that our research took place at a stage in the life of Russian society when it is dominated by a state of uncertainty of civilization choice and a significant misunderstanding by the ruling elite of the need to timely develop a new social contract that is more adequate to solve problems of civilized development, and sometimes simple survival. This has resulted in the growing mistrust of Russians towards the work of central and regional authorities and administration, which was particularly evident recently in connection with the preparation and conduct of pension reform. The sociological and managerial approach to the description and explanation of these processes presupposes their cor-relation with the real actions of the links of the power and administrative vertical to solve the tasks of the strategic development of the country and regions with different levels of sociocultural modernization.The study of the relationship of the management system with the socio-cultural and general level of socio-economic development of the regions allows not only to explain the existing differences in the pace of socio-cultural modernization, but also to draw conclusions about the ways of reforming the power-management vertical, taking into account these differences.","PeriodicalId":155784,"journal":{"name":"Research result. The article presents the results of a sociological study of the typical characteristics of the social portrait of a business woman in the city of Lipetsk, whose role is essential in solving social and economic problems in the region. In the theoret-ical model of the subject of the study, business women are both women entrepre-neurs and women in leadership positions in various spheres of human activity. Pro-cessing of the survey results allowed to evaluate the structure of the working day and typical working week of a business woman. In most cases, a business woman is an experienced specialist with higher education at the age of 31-50 years. The average business woman at work: wants to be as independent as possible, works with an average level of tension, not to be associated with financial risks, to manage the organization at a good level and to show, at the same time, a high level of responsibility for success and failures, to establish an average level of intensity of work in the organization and try to avoid potential legal risks. Most businesswomen are satisfied with the performance of management functions and work. Business women in Lipetsk are characterized by a high level of social and political activity. Active business activity significantly broadens the horizons of a business woman, and she has a need to ex-pand professional competencies. The authors determine an actual set of disciplines which the business woman wants to master. According to businesswomen, the bal-ance of family life and professional activity is achieved through an optimal combina-tion of levels of intensity of work and family responsibilities. {"title":"Small towns of Russia: an interdisciplinary analysis","authors":"O. Based on scientific and historical-cultural literature, as well as on the au-thor’s researches, the article analyzes the structure and dynamics of small Russian towns. This analysis involves a combination of the following approaches: cultural-historical, political-economic, integrated, interdisciplinary, as well as analysis of the rate of interaction and metabolism of their constituent agents and environments. Tak-ing into account a rapid development of the Fourth industrial revolution, the author suggests that the dynamics of Russian towns will develop in the following trajecto-ries: involvement of the majority of towns in an orbit of large urban agglomerations. Relatively isolated (closed) towns in the system of “linear towns” along the Northern Sea Route as the most promising, in terms of availability of oil and gas and other re-sources of the region will also be intensively developing. With the development of the transport infrastructure of the country, other types of temporary and rotational settlements will develop. At the same time, the system of ‘closed’ (scientific, mili-tary, sports areas, etc.) small towns will be expanded. In one way or another, the communication and information structures and networks will play a greater role in the dynamics of small towns. With an increase in the probability of occurrence of critical situations (natural and man-made disasters), such type of settlements as mo-bile camps of rapid deployment (civilian, military, search, rescue, etc.) will also develop.","PeriodicalId":155784,"journal":{"name":"Research result. {"title":"EVOLUTION OF TERRORISM AND EXTREMISM IN THE REPUBLIC OF TATARSTAN","authors":"V. The article covers four periods of institutionalization of extremism and ter­ rorism in Tatarstan (from inter-ethnic conflict at the end of 1980-s, across radicaliza-tion of Tatar ethno-political movement and legitimacy crises at the beginning of 1990­ s and birth of football fans’ extremism in 2000s to the conflict between quasi-religious terrorism and FSB in 2010s). The author elicits eight sources of quasi-religious ex­ tremism and terrorism. For the purpose of analysis of social roots of these negative phenomena there was conducted a youth opinion poll. The poll shows the prevalence of condemnation of any extremism. The rejection of extremism is not equivalent to social passivity. In the youth environment, we can see the relevance of social activism, rejection of humility with lack of rights and prevalence of legitimate and democratic channels to combat injustice. Religious extremism, in spite of clamorous actions, has not become popular with young people, as it has a too thin mobilization base. At the same time, another form of extremism - ethnic and linguistic radicalism, resulting from awkward policy of the authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan in the sphere of education - began to grow on both sides (among the Tatars and Russians). Because of this, a very significant segment of the youth considers inter-ethnic relations in the re­ public tense and even conflict. Young people rarely see the manifestations of inter­ ethnic and interreligious intolerance in real life, unlike the Internet, where one third of respondents encounter them frequently and even constantly, and 4.1% of the respond­ ents have a favorable reaction to such “encounters”, which seems very dangerous. Purposes: To explore the preference of various learning styles of university students, the possible impact of different learning styles on academic performance, and the possible variables which may influence students’ academic performance in Glas­ gow, the UK. Methods: A case exploratory study approach where 40 university stu­ dents (16 females and 24 males) both British and international ones with the age range (18-35) participated with filling in a self-completion questionnaire by convenience sampling. Results: The findings indicated that kinaesthetic learning style was males’ learning style preference while females preferred using visual learning style; addition­ ally, international students preferred using visual learning style whereas kinaesthetic learning style was British students’ preference with learning style. Moreover, different learning styles affected academic performance due to different subjects. Kinaesthetic learning style had a better academic performance for engineering students, while vis­ ual learning style performed better for educational students. In terms of variables, age, gender and personality all might influence academic performance. Conclusions: Learning styles seem to be impacted by major of study, gender, personality, behav­ ioural and experimental research may result into more credible evidences about the impact of learning styles on academic performance and also the possible differences between existing learning style and learning style preference as shown in our presented model (diagram 1).","PeriodicalId":155784,"journal":{"name":"Research result. Prestige of military service is directly connected with the trust of citizens to this institution, willingly pass military service, and, as a result, stand up for the defense of their homeland. The article summarizes the results of a sociological study of the attitude of young Kostroma to the Russian army, presents data from expert interviews in the Belgorod region. In the course of interpreting the obtained research results, the ratio of different target audiences (boys and girls) to military service in the Russian army was revealed. 13.22% rated \"excellent\" the modern Russian army, 46.38% \"good\", 33.67% rated \"satisfactory\", and only 6.73% - \"not satisfactory\". 38.4% would have evaded military service, if they had such an opportunity, and would have spent that time on work or study. Two-thirds of the respondents (66.83%) called the main reason for evading military service in the Russian army \"hazing\", and 70% of those surveyed have surrounded by people who evade military service. The emerging posi­ tive dynamics in the public opinion of young people about the service in the army is extremely unstable, it is too early to talk about changing the image of military service. The opinion of the experts confirmed the findings, highlighting the existence of a sub­ ject-object approach to conscripts, the reluctance to proceed to a systematic resolution of the problem of the image of the Russian army.","PeriodicalId":155784,"journal":{"name":"Research result. The Serbian society, as well as the majority of the societies in transition, show complete “openness” for globalizing influences, which, at a practical level, is realized by the implementation of the harmonization with the so-called European space. Therefore, the total developmental policy is perceived as exclusively the pro­ cess of accelerated adjustment to international standards. The educational policies are just a part of the total developmental policy and follow the same developmental logic: they accept trans-national standards. The educational policies, however, even in the context of harmonization may establish the balance between the growing external re­ quests and own educational tradition if they use the harmonization as an incentive for the actual modernization of education. The paper presents individual tendencies of the reform of education in the Republic of Serbia after 2000.
