Considering the varieties of load torque and rotor resistance, an identification scheme of model reference adaptive system asymptotically tracks the true values of the load torque and rotor resistance. So an adaptive control method which contains the identification scheme is adopted to counteract the effects of their varieties. The stability of close-loop system which includes the adaptive control method is proved. Many approaches have been proposed to solve these problems. In this paper, a speed control method is proposed using artificial neural network (ANN) with an online self-learning algorithm to compensate uncertain parameters in the dynamics model of AC motor. The global asymptotic stability of the control system is proved using Lyapunov stability method. By using dynamic programming, the problem of finding the optimal saturation control sequence that minimizes the performance index is transformed into that of finding the optimal saturation control sequence that minimizes the sequence of performance functional. The optimal saturation control sequence is derived by using the method of induction. The kinematic workspace is also obtained by the method, since the solution of inverse kinematics is embedded in the procedure. The method is first developed for 3DoF motion systems to take the advantages of illustrating the workspace by use of 3D plots. Then it is extended to higher degrees of freedom. For such types of 3DoF motion systems, a generalized trajectory is defined for the manipulator in the kinematic workspace that consists of straight paths connecting 26 selected points of workspace's boundary. The platform performs piecewise sinusoidal movements on the trajectory such that it stops at each of the selected point and goes ahead toward the other with maximum allowable speed. As the platform moves on this trajectory, legs are exposed to any possible static and dynamic forces. The forces obtained in this way are used to determine the force workspace which is defined as the subspace of kinematic workspace in which the structural forces do not exceed their critical values. In this paper, the criterion of structural failure is considered to be the buckling of legs. The generalization of the method to higher degrees of freedom is straightforward. As case studies, a 3DoF heave-roll-pitch motion platform and a hexapod are chosen to apply the method to. The results of the method can be used in the design of both the control system and structure of parallel manipulators. Such SMP scheme could automatically select the desirable configuration so that the manipulator could be more flexible and maneuverable. As physical limits generally exist in actual redundant manipulators, both joint limits and joint velocity limits are taken into consideration in the presented SMP scheme for practical purposes. Computer simulations based on two types of multi-link planar robot arms substantiate the efficiency and reliability of the presented scheme. While many current CPA techniques are developed solely for the linear systems, [1–3] has recently considered CPA for nonlinear systems. This paper continues this trend by extending CPA into a popular class of nonlinear systems, specifically block-oriented nonlinear models. Such model, according to recent research, does not agree with actual ocean ambient noise, and the optimal detector based on this model risks unexpectedly poor performance. We present a Gaussian- Exponential mixture model to describe the received noise by analysis of underwater noise samples for deriving an optimal signal detector. We first rebuild the ocean ambient noise model as a Gaussian-Exponential mixture model. Next, we derive an optimal nonlinear detector structure for known signals in such noise. Finally, in order to evaluate the performance of the optimal detector, it is compared to the conventional energy detector. The comparison is based on the concept of asymptotic relative efficiency (ARE) for comparing hypothesis testing procedures. And the out-of-step prevention strategy is set up by using the fuzzy control theory, which adopts dual-mode control structure. With the variable voltage and frequency, the motor's out-of-step preventive control is realized. Experimental results show that the method is simple, high quality.
