The aims of this study were (1) to find out the types of male and female teacher’s initiations used in English classroom interaction based on Sinclair and Coulthard Model, (2) to find out the reason why male and female teacher used the types of initiation. The design of the research used qualitative research. To answer the problems of the study, the data were collected in three ways by observing, video recording and interviewing. The data were analyzed based on Sinclair and Coulthard theory (1975). The result of this study were the following, (1) there were nine types of initiation used by male and female teacher in English classroom interaction, namely, boundary, teacher inform, teacher direct, teacher elicit, check, re-initiation (i), re-initiation (ii), listing and repeat. (2) the reasons in use of types initiation by male and female teacher. Those were affected by male and female teacher belief which belongs to the presage category and context category which refers to the class in which the teaching process takes place. They had different ways when doing initiation in English classroom interaction, which is they had their own ways in doing interaction with the students. The aim of this study were (1) to investigate thematic progression pattern used (2) to find out the reason why the students used thematic progression in the way they did. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were clauses of students‟ recount text. The instrument of collecting data was elicitation technique and interview. The data were analyzed by using interactive model technique of Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014). The result of this study were the following, (1) There were two patterns of thematic progression used in students‟ recount text, they were Theme Reteration/Constant Theme Pattern (TR/CTP), and Zig-zag/Linear Theme Pattern (Zig-zag/LTP). Due to the result in the form of product, this study was categorized as Research and Development (R & D) study which adapted from Borg and Gall (1989) theory with some modifications. The subject of this study was the seventh grade students of MTsS UMMI Lubuk Pakam. In conducting this research, the procedures were gathering the data and information, conducting the need analysis, designing the first draft of media, revising the media, and producing the final product as the meme comic. The instruments of collecting data were the combination of two strategies; interview and questionnaires. The interview result was analyzed as qualitative data and the questionnaires analyzed as quantitative data. These data were needs of students covering target needs and learning needs. This study developed speaking media which only focused on descriptive text taught in the odd semester. It was found that procedure text materials provided in the students’ textbook were not suitable to the needs and interests of Beauty program students. This research was conducted based on educational research and development (R&D) through six steps, namely: gathering data, analyzing data, developing procedure text materials, validating procedure text materials, revising procedure text materials and final product. There are some instruments that were applied in this research namely questionnaire and interview .The subject of this study was XI Grade of Beauty program. Based on the needs analysis conducted there were 4 procedure texts related to Beauty program developed. The researcher developed the text by selecting and adapting relevant procedure texts related to Beauty program from internet and book as the sources. Then, the selected texts were adapted based on the principles of materials development in order to present well organized suitable procedure text materials. These developed procedure text materials had been validated by two experts and the average score gotten is 4.07. It is categorized “Good” since the mean is within the interval 3.40 < ≤ 4.19. This study attempted to find out the English reading materials appropriateness in terms of the readability level for the target students. This study was categorized as descriptive quantitative research. The source of the data were the reading materials from English in Professional Job Situations textbook published by Grafindo Media Pratama which was designed under guidance of Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendisdikan (KTSP). The Dale and Chall original formula was used to analyze the data from the textbook. The researcher used Research and Development (R & D) method through six steps: gathering data and information, need analysis, media design, validating to experts, revising, and final product. The subjects of this research were 26 students from VII A at MTs S Nurul Hakim Tembung. The instrument of collecting data was using questionnaires and interviewing the teacher. The data were analyzed by descriptive text technique. The product was assessed from two experts. The average scores of the product assessment were 90 from English teacher, and 92 from English lecturer. The total average scores from two experts were 91 which was in very good quality.
