Methods: The anticancer potentiality of this enterocin against human colorectal adenocarcinoma (HCT-116) cells was evaluated using cytotoxicity, cell cycle analysis, apoptosis and monitoring morphological changes of the treated cells. Also the immunomodulatory effects of the tested enterocin were quantified on LPS-induced PBMCs cell model with monitoring TNF-α and IFNγ levels using flowcytometry. Results: The obtained data showed that enterocin OE342 inhibited HCT-116 cellular viability in a concentration dependant manner with somewhat high IC50 value recording 49.920 mg/ml. Upon HCT-116 treatment with this enterocin the appearance of undergoing apoptotic cells characterized by cellular rounding up, shrinkage and membrane blebbing was observed. Cytotoxicity of enterocin OE-342 was accompanied by cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase (24.66%) accompanied with an increase in the ratio of the apoptotic cells in the preG1cell cycle phase. Also, this enterocin affected the generation of TNF-α and IFNγ from LPS-induced PBMCs cell resulting in inhibition of the first by 27.3% and induction of the second by 69.5% which suggest the immunomodulatory effects of the tested enterocin. Conclusion: Taken together, our results suggest the anticancer potentialities of enterocin OE-342 against human colon cancer cells represented through its effects on both apoptotic and inflammatory pathways.","PeriodicalId":15473,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & cellular immunology","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90057920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact it is remarkable even if neglected that physicians detect as a common finding a high cerebrovascular lesion burden in older patients apparently as nonspecific feature due to age and independent of the PD disease itself. This data are generally ignored by clinicians and researchers according to the classic criterion based on response to drug (dopaminergic therapy) to give elements of certainty about the diagnosis of PD; then they declassify clinical cases not responding to drug therapy to Vascular Parkinsonism (VP), assuming that the latter is not or poorly sensitive to dopaminergic therapy. The author hypothesizes that vascular defect would produce, with an unknown mechanism, a presynaptic damage which would explain the greater frequency of vascular damage in patients with PD compared to other diseases related to movement disorders.","PeriodicalId":15473,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & cellular immunology","volume":"63 1","pages":"1-2"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74588234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this symbiotic relationship, the microbiota provides carbohydrate fermentation and digestion, vitamin synthesis and gut-associated lymphoid tissue development, as well as preventing colonization by pathobionts, whereas the host offers a niche and nutrients for the survival of the microbiota. However, when this mutualistic relationship is compromised and an altered interaction between immune cells and microorganisms occurs, the gut microbiota may contribute to the autoimmune diseases development. Researchers have made efforts to clarify the role of the microbiota in autoimmune disease and find new therapeutic approaches to treat immune-mediated diseases. However, the exact mechanisms involved in the breakdown of the gut epithelial barrier and bacterial translocation are currently unknown. In our autoimmune diabetes study, we observed prevalence of Bacteroides vulgatus, Bacteroides rodentium, Blautia coccoides, Prevotella copri, Akkermansia muciniphila and Bacteroides xylanisolvens. Positive correlation was found (P=0.02; r=0.67) between fasting glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1C percentages (P=0.03; r= 0.74) with Bacteroides xylanisolvens. Plasma levels of IL-6 were increased in patients (P<0.05) and negative correlations between TNF (P=0.04; r=-0.57) and IFN-γ (P=0.01; r=-0.65) with Bacteroides xylanisolvens readings were observed. In conclusion, we observed dysbiosis in T1D patients, with lower diversity of phyla and species compared with controls. Further studies with the gram-negative Bacteroides xylanisolvens are necessary to determine whether it may represent a target for probiotics.","PeriodicalId":15473,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & cellular immunology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72648486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a complex combination of host and environmental factors are believed to play a pivotal role. In the pathogenesis of SLE, several infectious agents have been held responsible such as Cytomegalovirus, Parvovirus B19, Epstein Barr virus and Retrovirus. There is a variable relationship between SLE and Helicobacter, which is different from that of lupus and other infections. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection and SLE development. Method: In this study, 82 serum samples and 65 stool samples were collected from the SLE patients as well as the control group, respectively. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the presence of specific IgG/IgM antibodies against H.pylori in all serum samples. The presence of H.pylori antigen was examined in all stool samples by using stool antigen test. Suitable statistical analysis was applied. Results: Thirteen (15.9%) out of 82 SLE patients and 30 (36.6%) out of 82 control group were anti-H.pylori IgM seropositive. There was a significant difference between the level of IgM in SLE patients and control group (p 0.05). Conclusions: Based on data obtained in this study, it is concluded that there was a significant difference between the number of IgM seropositive in SLE patients and control group, which shows that SLE disease may have an inhibitory role in H.pylori infection occurance.","PeriodicalId":15473,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & cellular immunology","volume":"6 1","pages":"1-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88533653","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
