This exploratory research identifies additional notions required by the official topics of \"Parallel and Concurrent Programming\" course, taught at the University of Costa Rica. This paper characterizes previous knowledge that students had about these notions and the extracurricular effort that they made to overcome the lack of notions. Findings show that students were able to overcome the lack of notions at expense of more extracurricular effort. For this reason we analyze the Zodiac FX and Raspberry PI, low cost SDN devices. The main objective will be to find out how well they can perform in small or medium scale networks. In order to accomplish our goal a simple network was used, in which either of the devices was connected to the controller and two hosts. The controller used was Ryu, running under an Ubuntu machine. For the measurement of statistics command line tools from both Ubuntu and OpenFlow were used. One special motivation for the development of this paper is the fact that these devices have not been analyzed in terms of performance. Through the development of this paper we show that the Raspberry PI can be used adequately as a SDN switch. Neither the Zodiac FX nor the Raspberry PI can reach the capacity that the vendors published. However, little is known about how nutritionists have adopted such technologies in their practice in Costa Rica. The objective of this study was to identify how nutritionists use mobile technologies, as well as the perceived usefulness of different services that could be incorporated in their practice. We conducted an online survey, and the responses of 185 nutritionists were analyzed. Of the sample, 69.7% perceived that the use of mobile devices in nutrition is \"very important\" and \"very useful\" (77.3%) as a support to the nutrition care process. Although 79.5% showed their willingness to offer personalized mobile services, the use of such services in practice is scarce. Solar panels are a good alternative to produce energy. Monitoring, maintenance and fault detection processes represent aspects of vital importance when making concrete decisions that affects a certain percentage of the solar farms. In this paper we present a system capable of detecting solar panels location through machine learning.The main goal is to aid solar panels farm managers to locate solar panels in real time in a real area by using a machine learning model. With the use of a camera and a drone, we will be able to fly over the solar farm and identify the panels. The YOLO (You Only Look Once) object detection model is used, training and testing the neural network with a data-set of 280 images. The Internet of Things (IoT) devices are controlled using a Wi-Fi module that allows them to connect to the REST web service and to integrate with the open source Meeting Room Booking System (MRBS). In order to evaluate the system a storyboard evaluation was conducted with 47 participants. All participants filled out the User Experience Questionnaires (UEQ), described the product using three words and expressed their opinion through open comments. Finally, 19 participants took part in a real-life simulation of the smart meeting room and evaluated the system using the UEQ questionnaire. Thematic mapping aims at making visible physical space features corresponding to particular interests, for example: hydrants, accessibility, or public transportation. Information and communication technologies bring these mapping process to the digital realm, streamlining the management of maps and expanding its application opportunities. Free software tools for geospatial data and information management contribute to mapping processes by encouraging collaboration through the reduction of entry barriers, which can range from economical hurdles to data privacy related issues. OSMTracker for Android is a free software geospatial data capturing tool that runs on the Android operating system. The tool's user interface can be customized to match specific data capturing needs for different communities and purposes, making it widely used globally for thematic mapping. However, this customization requires specific technical skills, imposing a usability limitation for the tech unsavvy collaborators. This paper presents an improvement in OSMTracker to simplify loading and sharing custom buttons layouts. As the amount of data that computers are able to process increases, automatic layout becomes more necessary. During the process of creating a program visualization, the authors needed a precise layout manager for scalable vector graphics that supported layers and animations. A literature review revealed the lack of a layout manager that satisfies these requirements.
