The present reviewed literature reveals the relationship between industrial revolution 4.0 technologies (IR tech), six-sigma (SS) and sustainable performance. Studies have shown that six sigma practices have significantly impacted organizational performance in manufacturing industry. However, the integrated effects of six-sigma practices and IR 4.0 technologies on sustainable performance are yet to be empirically investigated in the context of food and beverage industry in Malaysia. Therefore, this research intends to address the gap by having a preliminary conceptual approach to the joint effect of SS and IR 4.0 technologies on sustainable performance by reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing previous studies. The study aims to confirm the future direction of food and beverages industry that is recently employing new technologies to its manufacturing system. The consequent study shall be based on data collection from middle management employees who are working and familiar with the production phases of the industry. This study is pivoted from the theories of practice-based view and contingency posing as the underpinning theories. The study reaffirms the importance of operations management practices for any strategic implementation to be successful and how sustainable performance is enhanced through performance variations.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128231777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the issues faced by the SMEs are the lack of competitiveness and marketing effectiveness. They still have many shortcomings in the industry, especially in food hygiene, packaging, labelling as well as marketing. We are targeting at least 60% of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, especially those involved in the processing industry, food packaging and food stall management. Previous studies have found that SMEs have constraints in proper handling, processing and knowledge that coincide with local and international standards. In addition, they are facing problems in acquiring HALAL and MESTI certification. A qualitative research approach was adopted with an exploratory, inductive research. The sampling method used in this research is purposive sampling since only respondents with the selected criteria will be considered as a respondent in the study. A minimum 20 entrepreneurs were selected based on the entrepreneurs list provided by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) of Dungun and Lembaga Terengganu Tengah (KETENGAH). They are involved in the food industry such as frozen food, dry chips, cakes, fruit juice etc. We believe this project can help them address the problems and challenges mentioned earlier as the proposed project is a holistic project that will help them to become competitive and quality-conscious entrepreneurs. This project will also help entrepreneurs and food stall operators to improve the quality of their food products. Without this project, we feel that the entrepreneurs will continue facing difficulty in terms of their ability to produce high-quality food products and penetrating new and larger local markets.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130997174","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In Malaysia, phases of Movement Control Order (MCO) were enforced to curb the spread of Covid-19 pandemic, and because of that, educational institutions were affected where learning must be continued by modifying face-to-face learning in campus to remote Online Distance Learning (ODL) at home for all the courses offered. This study investigates any significant difference between students’ ODL readiness dimensions for mathematics/statistics courses and the influence of students’ ODL readiness dimensions on mathematics/statistics performance. This research referred to five dimensions from the Online Learning Readiness Scale (OLRS); computer and internet self-efficacy, self-directed learning, learner control, motivation for learning, and online communication self-efficacy to measure students’ ODL readiness. Data were collected from 511 students in Universiti Teknologi MARA Melaka Branch of academic session March – July 2020 who took mathematics/statistics courses online. The statistical analyses used for this study were One-way repeated analysis of variance, one-way multivariate analysis of variance (one-way MANOVA) and multiple regression analysis. Results revealed that students taking statistics course showed higher readiness scores in computer and internet self-efficacy, and self-directed learning than students taking mathematics course. The results also show that students’ mathematics/statistics performance was influenced by self-directed learning in ODL. As a conclusion, students taking statistics course were more prepared and performed better in learning through ODL than students taking mathematics course.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134096591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The MCO has an impact on students. This situation forces them to stay at home while the learning process continues in Online Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The institution is concerned about the implications of online learning as a teaching technique that is intended to improve students' academic performance by increasing computer self-efficacy and other factors such as student satisfaction and e-learning outcomes. Therefore, this study aims to examine the motivation learning achievement in ODL among university students. A total of 290 volunteer students from both genders of diploma and bachelor degree students participated in this study. The study found that there were significant relationships on the factors of motivation learning achievement. There were differences in motivation learning achievement (skills, beliefs, self-direction and interaction) between genders. Whilst, there were no significant differences on the factors of motivation learning achievement (skills, beliefs, self-direction and interaction) between diploma and bachelor degree students. Thus, the ODL appears to be new standards that should not obstruct potential interactive learning for optimal academic performance and accomplishment. In other words, this research provides a new perception to lecturers, faculty management, and the institution, as well as serving as the standard practice of ODL in the future.","PeriodicalId":153855,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Intelek","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128104483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many entrepreneurs seek to create ventures that not only yield a profit but also add value to society. However, previous studies have found that the level of public awareness is still low and that the existence of social enterprises is still at early stage. Thus, they suggest the use of social media as an alternative way to attract attention and create public awareness on social enterprise in Malaysia. To this end, this concept paper seeks to explore the level of public responses on existing social enterprise in Malaysia and discover the role of social media in terms of enhancing social enterprise awareness and promoting social enterprise. The three levels of public responses to be used in this concept paper are ‘aware’, ‘interested’ and ‘engaged’. Data will be retrieved from social media (Facebook and Twitter). Essentially, this concept paper is an attempt to provide first insight regarding the level of social enterprise awareness in Malaysia and to recognize the vital elements in social media sites. In order to enhance social enterprise awareness, this concept paper proposes storytelling canvas as a support tool. For data analysis or data management, this paper will use SPSS and NVivo to elaborate the framework and flow of data collection in order to measure the ability of social media to significantly enhance social enterprise awareness in Malaysia.
