First, in accordance with the proposed algorithm, the actual profile of the reflector is retrieved as a surface on which the phase difference between the field of the conjugate excited antenna array and the field of a plane wave propagating in the direction of the beacon equals to zero. After that, taking into account the reconstructed profile, the weight vectors of the antenna array are adjusted to form the necessary set of beams. By modeling three types of reflector distortions, the accuracy of the weight vectors correction and the effectiveness of beams stabilization have been confirmed.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"20 8","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113941209","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inspection and maintenance plan are required to ensure the integrity of the piping to avoid failures that can be catastrophic in nature. In some cases where the piping cannot be accessed externally such as underground piping and piping under insulation, internal inspection is the most practical solution. Due to their size which can be quite small, these piping can only be accessed internally using robotic crawlers. The robotic crawler can conduct visual as well as other type of NDT inspection. It has to be able to pass through various piping sections such as 90 and U bends as well as vertical section. This paper looks at the mechanical design of such crawlers and the issues and challenges associated with it. The design features for each robotic module are covered from the concept stage until the prototype stage. This is followed by the test and validation activities conducted on the prototype parts. The test results are presented and the areas for improvements for the next development stage are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121164985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In real practice, when faced with a choice of the de-embedding technique, one must take into account a number of additional factors, such as target application field of the component, manufacturing capabilities and production costs. In this paper we compare existing de-embedding techniques in the context of GaAs pHEMT-based two-stage low-noise amplifier monolithic microwave integrated circuit design. Firstly, we analyze several de-embedding techniques valid for pHEMTs with both coplanar and microstrip accesses and outline differences in de-embedded active bias S-parameters. Then, for each of the considered de-embedding technique we estimated the overall effect on low-noise amplifier small-signal characteristics, the total wafer area occupied by various de-embedding structures and flexibility of a technique regarding characterization of several active and passive devices with different pad distance and feed line length located on the same wafer.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131237159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem of resolution when detecting or measuring signal parameters can be considered both for useful signals alone and for cases when interfering signals are present as well. It is pointed out that the effect of multiplicative noise on the signal almost always leads to a resolution problem. It is shown, that under the influence of significant broadband multiplicative noise, the time resolution interval is determined only by the signal envelope and does not depend on its phase structure. For instance, for signals with a rectangular or bell-shaped envelope, it is equal to the equivalent signal duration. Examples of calculating resolution intervals under the influence of multiplicative noise are given. Taking into account the effect of multiplicative noise on signal resolution leads to an increase in the efficiency of radio systems, detection of objects being an example.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134400353","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With sub-Nyquist sampling, processing occurs at lower sampling rates, but this raises the problem of aliasing. In this paper, the problem of reconstructing complex analytical signals distorted by aliasing of arbitrary degree is solved using multichannel multifrequency sampling. In this case, the signal to be sampled is fed to the N inputs of parallel-working analog-to-digital converters. Deterministic equidistant sampling is provided for each channel, but the sampling rates are different for each channel. The sampling rate on each channel is less than the sampling theorem required for bandpass sampling. In this case, aliasing of the Nth order occurs in the channels, in which at some frequencies there is an overlap of (N+1) periodically repeating aliases of the spectrum. When implementing the proposed approach, the frequency band of the analytical bandpass signal to be processed is divided into sub-bands with the same width. Channel sampling rates are multiples of the sub-band width. For all channels, systems of equations are drawn up that connect the measured aliasing-distorted spectrum values in the sub-bands with the unknown desired spectrum values in the alias sub-bands. However, these equations cannot be solved for analytic bandpass signals. Therefore, a technique is applied based on narrowing the processed frequency band in some channels without changing the sampling rates in them. The paper presents examples of spectrum reconstruction of a bandpass analytic signal for cases of aliasing of the second and third orders.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133106713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wireless underground sensor networks (WUSN) are the promising application areas that cover a number of fields: agriculture, mining, environmental control, etc. A progress in semiconductor technologies has opened up new opportunities for developing cheap and compact monolithic ultra-high frequency (UHF) receiver and transmitter integrated circuits - basic building blocks of RFID and WUSN systems. Read range (RR), the path loss (PL) and the bit error rate (BER) are the main characteristics of RFID and WUSN communication channel. The dielectric properties of the soil, determined by the composition and moisture, affect the electromagnetic wave (EMW) propagation that leads to significant PL and limits RR. In this work, a practical approach to UHF underground channel characterization, based on the modified Friis model and the vector network measurements is proposed. The modeling and measurements issues are discussed, that are important for the path loss prediction in the soil with different composition and moisture.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114196363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of a pulsed picosecond focused laser facility \"PICO-4\" in determining the sensitivity parameters made it possible to minimize the use of a heavy ion cyclotron. When a focused laser source and a heavy ion cyclotron are used together, the location of the most sensitive areas on the crystal is determined, which is impossible when using only a cyclotron, while the error in determining the threshold linear energy transfer for the occurrence of SEE is reduced. Using a focused laser source, sensitive regions of IP units with threshold values of linear energy losses that are unattainable when conducting an experiment on a heavy ion cyclotron are determined.","PeriodicalId":150550,"journal":{"name":"2021 International Siberian Conference on Control and Communications (SIBCON)","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115839575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the simulator to perform ground testing for a number of power supplies that involve renewables (solar cells, wind generators, etc.). The simulator generates DC current waveforms of various shapes. The DC current range is within 0…220 A. We use the current of 180 A as the reference value of the load current. The aim of this paper is to investigate a method of optimal controller adjustment for the boost DC-DC converter. We employed the magnitude optimum to fine-tune the controller. A simulation model of the boost converter was built in Matlab Simulink and the designed current controller options were implemented. The modeling results in the form of dynamic current and voltage waveforms were analyzed. The proposed technique of the current controller tuning proved to be valid.
