In this paper, we discuss the connectivity challenges in Cognitive Radio Ad-Hoc Networks (CRAHNs) compared with conventional mobile ad-hoc wireless networks. We conclude that network connectivity in cognitive radio ad-hoc networks depends on not only node density, but also the spectrum heterogeneity. Our main contributions in this paper are follows: (i) to define and classify the conditions of connectivity in cognitive ad-hoc networks, (ii) to mathematically analyze how each condition degrades the network connectivity, (iii) to derive final closed-form model to show the total impact of all network parameters on network connectivity in CRAHNs. The results obtained from our proposed mathematical models point out several distinguishing features of network connectivity in CRAHNs compared with those of conventional mobile ad-hoc wireless networks. Specifically, we prove mathematically that the network connectivity in CRAHNs depends on SU's node density, PU's node density, PU's activating rate, operating frequencies, the number of licensed channels, and the distribution of PUs on each channel. Our proposed mathematical model can be used to support the evaluation and design of CRAHNs.","PeriodicalId":149730,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129210452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm replaces the binary matrix with the directional matrix that contains the gradient information. The directional matrix contains both the gradient magnitude and angle and provides the merge decisions of neighboring pixels for solving the problem of overlapping edges. The proposed algorithm improves the performance of the connected components algorithm in the classification of features and candidates using edge information. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can resolve the problem of overlapping components, and prevent false connections between components and background under various circumstances.","PeriodicalId":149730,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control","volume":"268 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121324999","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The double eccentric discs normal adjustment mechanism is used in the robot to adjust the attitude of the drill axis. To improve the adjustment efficiency, the robot should rotate the eccentric discs to the target point in a most effective way. But there are two available directions and attitudes to rotate, while the anti-trigonometric functions also have two solutions, the key problem of the movement planning is how to choose the optimal solutions from these calculated solutions to rotate the eccentric discs to improve the rotary efficiency. The principle of choosing the solutions is that the eccentric discs should rotate in the minimum absolute angle values to move to the target point. Finally, the movement loci from the initial position and a specific attitude to some different points in different quadrants are simulated in Mat lab to verify the feasibility of the rotary angle calculation method.","PeriodicalId":149730,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control","volume":"82 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114330910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is pointed out that their SCSD process can be divided into four stages, i.e., dielectric-breakdown stage, spark-generated stage, spark-maintenance stage and spark-extinguish stage. For the simple capacitive circuit, its spark resistance is larger and maintaining voltage is almost unchanged in the spark-maintenance stage. As for the switching converter, its output short-circuit characteristics depend strongly on the load resistance and its maintaining voltage decline rapidly with the decrease of the load resistance. The experimental results also show that the discharge duration is approximately linear relationship with the capacitance and unrelated to the initial voltage. The circuit model is proposed, which can simulate the output SCSD process of the switching converter. By using the least-squares method, the relationship expressions between the discharging duration and capacitance in each time-stage are derived and the corresponding equivalent-resistance is obtained. The mathematical models of simulating the SCSD process of the switching converter are proposed, and the expressions of the current and voltage are derived. Experiment and simulation results are in positive to the analysis showing the feasibility of the proposed models.","PeriodicalId":149730,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115913369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drowsiness is a complex psychophysiology phenomenon whose mechanism has not been explicitly explored. A variety of psychophysiology parameters have been used in previous researches as indicators of drowsiness. In general, the analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) signals is a major approach for detecting driver drowsiness. That approach can analyse the autonomic nervous system, which allows the evaluation of the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic influences on heart rhythm of drivers. Time-Frequency Analysis (TFA) of HRV is a powerful skill to make it easier to evaluate how this balance varies with time. Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) is a new method of time-frequency analysis, and is applicable to non-linear and non-stationary processes. This work presents a case study for time-frequency domain analysis of heart rate variability for driver fatigue. The experiment results show that HHT of HRV can be characterized to identify physiological features of human body.","PeriodicalId":149730,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129986777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various control system prototypes of TPS with the EPICS mechanism have been gradually built and tested. One EPICS data archive system is necessary to be developed to record various machine parameters and status information for long time logging. An archive engine takes PV data from EPICS IOCs via channel access, and stores them in the data storage. The PostgreSQL RDB (Relational Database) was adopted as the data storage for the TPS archive system. Both the historic PVs (Process Variable) data and the archive engine configuration are saved into the same RDB. The archived data can be retrieved in the graphical user interface of data browser. Taking the performance and redundancy into considerations, the storage servers and RDB table structures are tuned relatively. The primary factor most common used to judge system performance is the mean response time. We propose the queueing model method to analyze the performance of a network-based archive system, and simplify the architecture as the queueing model in serial and parallel to derive the equations of mean response time. Then we apply the proposed method to estimate the approximate response time of the actual network-based system which constructed in serial and in parallel. The efforts are described at this paper.","PeriodicalId":149730,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Symposium on Computer, Consumer and Control","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134416427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
