The author of the article analyzes the images of the theogonic mythology of the Turkic-Mongol peoples based on the texts of Tuvan and Buryat folklore. The study of these images is of particular relevance at the present time, in connection with the growing interest of modern society to the ancient origins of the traditional culture of nomadic peoples, which provides a solid basis for strengthening their spiritual shrines. The novelty of this work lies in the fact that the author, using comparative-historical and hermeneutic research methods, for the first time attempts to identify some Tuvan-Buryat parallels in the system of images of theogonic mythology: Kogeldey-Mergen — Khuheday Mergen; daday — Tatay; Hamnaarak — Bulzhamuur. As a result of the analysis, she comes to the conclusion that these images go back to a common mythological source in the sacred tradition of the Turkic-Mongol peoples, which is based on the Tengrian idea — the idea of Heaven as the supreme sacred principle.","PeriodicalId":149719,"journal":{"name":"The Epic of Geser — the spiritual heritage of the peoples of Central Asia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116368307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The existence in the Kalmyk tradition of legends about Geser is associated with the developed cult of the epic hero among the peoples of Central Asia and the spread of Buddhism. The “Geser” among Kalmyks existed in the form of oral legends, had circulation and a written code of this monument, dating back to Tibetan and Mongolian sources. In the article we will consider the substantive aspects of two plots of oral legends about Geser, having a genetic connection with the epic “Geser”.","PeriodicalId":149719,"journal":{"name":"The Epic of Geser — the spiritual heritage of the peoples of Central Asia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134335039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article discusses the mythological characters presented in the oral stories of the Chinese Buryats. The revealed mythological characters, which have the most expressive and specific characteristics, are conditionally divided into characters of heavenly origin and into the local spirits — the owners of the area, mountains, water objects. It is concluded that the first group of characters is endowed with the functions of the creator and manager of a certain world order at an early stage in the development of living beings. For another group of characters, designated as spirits of nature, are characterized with the functions of protectors of the inhabitants of certain objects of the surrounding world — flora and fauna. As the folklore material shows, in order to maintain the mythological balance in nature, we can see a desire of ancient people to appease the local spirits, so as not to cause a negative impact on the life of people.","PeriodicalId":149719,"journal":{"name":"The Epic of Geser — the spiritual heritage of the peoples of Central Asia","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133207033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
