ORAL TALES ABOUT GESER IN KALMYK FOLKLORE

Abstract

. The existence in the Kalmyk tradition of legends about Geser is associated with the developed cult of the epic hero among the peoples of Central Asia and the spread of Buddhism. The “Geser” among Kalmyks existed in the form of oral legends, had circulation and a written code of this monument, dating back to Tibetan and Mongolian sources. In the article we will consider the substantive aspects of two plots of oral legends about Geser, having a genetic connection with the epic “Geser”.
