Aniline (An), N-methylaniline (mAn), N,N-dimethylaniline (dAn), o-toluidine (o-Tol), m-toluidine (m-Tol), p-toluidine (p-Tol), 3,4-xylidine (o-Xyl), 2,4-xylidine (m-Xyl), and 2,5-xylidine (p-Xyl) were the examined AAs. Optimization experiments for molybdenum extraction-spectrophotometric determination were performed and the following parameters were found for each of the systems: organic solvent (opt), pH (opt), C HTPD (opt), C AA (opt), shaking time (opt), l (max) and e (max). Under the optimum conditions, the molar ratio of the reacting Mo(V), HTPD and AA was 1:2:2 and the degrees of Mo extraction were R³98.4%. Linear relationships involving the spectral characteristics of the extracted complexes (l max or e max ) and some fundamental properties of the halogen substituent in the HTPD were discussed. The effect of foreign ions was examined and two sensitive, selective and precise procedures for extraction-spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum were proposed. The relative standard deviations for Mo content of (3-5)´10 –4 mass % were 4% (HCTP-An procedure) and 3% (HBTP-An procedure).","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"117 1","pages":"3003-3011"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81048904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior of tin in 0.1 M Na 2 CO 3 with and without addition of eugenol oil was studied in the temperature range 278-308 K. This compound inhibits the corrosion of tin at low concentration. At 4g/L eugenol oil the inhibition efficiency calculated by potentiodynamic polarization and EIS techniques is 70% and 82%, respectively. The inhibition efficiency increased with increase of the inhibitor concentration and decreased with increase of medium temperature. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition. Polarization curves reveal that EO acts as a mixed-type inhibitor in corrosive solution. The results obtained from the different corrosion evaluation techniques are in good agreement.","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"30 1","pages":"800-809"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86767822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dual descriptor—a local reactivity descriptor derived from conceptual density functional theory— and the condensed electrophilic Fukui index were used to describe the most probable sites of polymerization. Frontier orbitals energies were calculated to predict the band gap of both polymeric films. All results demonstrated how theoretical protocols help in the understanding of chemical polymerization mechanism and in the prediction of relevant properties, which can accelerate the synthesis process of new monomers.","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"1 1","pages":"982-989"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89849010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) is a risk factor for cardiovascular and neurological diseases such as: Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, multiple sclerosis, and stroke. Increased Hcy level may lead to endothelial dysfunction due to impaired bioavailability of endothelium-derived nitric oxide (NO). The molecular mechanism decreasing the levels of NO in HHcy conditions is incompletely understood, but it seems that asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), an endogenous inhibitor of NO synthase, may be a key factor. ADMA is formed from L-arginine by enzymes in the family of protein N-methyltransferases (PRMT) and may undergo hydrolysis to L-citrulline and dimethylamine with the participation of dimethylaminohydrolase (DDAH). In pathological conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases, Hcy may lead to increased ADMA concentrations by inhibiting the activity of DDAH. Several drugs, such L-dopa, antiepileptic drugs, and lipid-lowering drugs, may interfere with the metabolic pathways of thiols, leading to an alteration of plasma Hcy and ADMA levels. It seems that administration of L-arginine, in conjunction with B vitamins, to patients with HHcy may be a new method in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"8 1","pages":"931-939"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78801679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The influences of experimental parameters including sample pH, sorbent mass, contact time, volume and type of eluent, and interference of some ions with extraction of Au(III) ions were investigated using batch procedure. The maximum adsorption capacity of the sorbent for Au(III) was found to be 45.0 mg g-1. The sorption of Au(III) ions was quantitative in the pH range of 4.0–5.0 and quantitative desorption was achieved using 10 mL of thiourea (0.5 mol L-1)/hydrochloric acid (1 mol L-1) solution. In the initial solution, the calibration curve was linear in the range of 8.8 - 666.0 I¼g L-1 with R2 = 0.9994 (n = 8), the detection limit (3Sb, n = 8) was 6.2 I¼g L-1, relative standard deviation (R.S.D) of 20 I¼g mL-1 of Au(III) was 3.9% (n = 8), and the preconcentration factor was 30. Therefore, We focused on the study of the influence of certain parameters that are close to those used in plants producing phosphoric acid which are the stirring speed (300, 500 and 700 rounds per minute), concentration of phosphoric anhydride (25, 30 and 35 percent of P 2 O 5 ), and the temperature (60, 70 and 80 degrees Celsius); we note that the rate of dissolution of this phosphate rises by increasing the precedent parameters. Because of the complexity of the study of the dissolution of phosphate in mineral acids. Several different published kinetic models giving different expressions of speed versus time. In this study, activated carbon and bleaching earth as a bleaching agent mixed with certain proportions and1% of the mixture added to sunflower oil in the bleaching process. The combination of bleaching earth and activated carbon produced higher adsorption capacity than the single bleaching earth. This article focuses more particularly on heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) removal. It was detected that, the mixture is an excellent adsorbent in the adsorption of PAHs and metals from sunflower oil with the highest adsorption capacity. The results showed that, the adsorption of metals and PAHs depend strongly on activated carbon and decreased with increasing activated carbonin mixture and the maximum adsorption was reached after using B5 (95 % bleaching earth and 5 % activated carbon combination).","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"14 1","pages":"5932-5936"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89986796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
