Influence of various parameters such as concentration of complexing agent, pH, and interference of other competing metal ions was examined in a systematic manner. Gadolinium is found to be a stable complex as Gd-ARS at pH 4.6-4.8 and having a maximum absorbance at 530 nm. Beer’s law was found to be obeyed in 1to14 μg/mL range of gadolinium with a correlation coefficient of R 2 = 0.9992 (n=14). The system allowed for the determination of gadolinium with a limit of detection (LOD) (3.3σ/S) of 0.264 μg/mL, limit of quantitation (LOQ) (10σ/S) of 0.8 μg/mL. The precision expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD) of 0.38 % and 1.96 % at 5.4 and 1.85 mg/L. Its molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity are found to be 9.33x10 3 L.Mol -1 .cm -1 and 1.07x10 -4 μg/cm 2 respectively. An easy and versatile determination of gadolinium concentration during the solvent extraction study of Gadolinium with 30% tri-n-butyl phosphate-nitric acid system is proposed.","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"60 1","pages":"01-10"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83506693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pure and different weight % of tungsten doped TiO 2 nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel method and calcinated at 600° C for 5 h. The synthesised products have been characterized by X-ray Diffraction studies (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), Ultraviolet-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscope (UV-Vis), Photoluminescence Spectra (PL), High Resolution Transmission Spectroscopy (HRTEM) and Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy (FT-IR). XRD pattern of pure TiO 2 and 1 wt % W-doped TiO 2 nanoparticles confirms the anatase structure and increase in the W-doping changes the phase of TiO 2 to rutile. Average crystallite size of synthesized nanoparticles was determined using the Debye-Scherrer formula. The crystallite size obtained for pure TiO 2 is 37 nm and W-doped TiO 2 is 28 nm, 34 nm and 33 nm. The FESEM images show the agglomerated particles of spherical-like morphology. Optical property and direct bandgap of pure and W-doped TiO 2 nanoparticles also further characterised by UV–Vis Spectroscopy. The images of HRTEM clearly confirm that particles present in the W-doped TiO 2 powdered sample is nanosized particles. The Kirby Bauer Agar Well Diffusion Assay method was employed to explore antimicrobial activity of nanosized pure and W-doped TiO 2 colloidal suspension against the test microorganisms two Gram positive bacteria ( Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis ), two Gram negative Bacteria ( Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ) and two fungi ( Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger ). Data gathering is a major issue in WSN which influences the throughput, energy and data delivery. In previous research, there was not taken efforts to focus on balanced data gathering. In this research, we propose Reliable Energy Efficient Data Gathering Approach (REEDGA) to balance data gathering and overhead. To achieve this, proposed work consists of three phases. In first phase, estimation of information gathering is implemented through stable paths. Stable paths are found based on link cost. In second phase, data gathering phase is initialized to save energy in the presence of mobile sensor nodes. Overhead is kept low while keeping round trip time of gathered data. From the analytical simulation using NS2, the proposed approach achieves better performance in terms of data delivery rate, data gathering rate, throughput, delay, link availability and control overhead.","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"16 1","pages":"5645-5652"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86477161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Preliminary experiments were carried out to study the effect of some operating parameters such as: pH, initial fluoride concentration, coagulant dose, adjuvant coagulation dose, flocculent dose and settling time. Obtained experimental results showed that the treatment of fluoride by alum coagulation causes acidification of the solution. The effect of the initial pH solution on fluoride removal is negligible. Experimental results proved that coagulation process is effective in waters with low or medium levels of fluoride. Defluoridation rate was seen to increase with increasing coagulant and adjuvant coagulation doses. Optimal flocculent dose and optimal settling time were found 4.2 mg L -1 of FABI and 60 min respectively. Subsequently, experimental design methodology using two-level full factorial design was applied to optimize the defluoridation by coagulation-flocculation. Therefore, four operating parameters which are supposed to affect the removal efficiency were chosen: initial fluoride concentration, coagulant dose, coagulation adjuvant dose and settling time. From the statistical analysis, it is inferred that the four studied parameters have an influence on the fluoride removal. In fact, initial fluoride concentration has a positive effect unlike coagulant dose, coagulation adjuvant dose and settling time. Experiment tests were performed to evaluate the efficiency of coagulation-flocculation process for south Tunisian brackish water with high fluoride concentration. The obtained results showed that fluoride removal reached 59%.","PeriodicalId":14904,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN CHEMISTRY","volume":"20 1","pages":"727-740"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76618143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
