To improve communication system performance, constructing satellite networks through inter-satellite link (ISL) is an important method. As the number of ISLs of a satellite is limited, reasonable link assignment is critical to achieve good performance. Most of existing related works adopt a simplified theoretical network model. In this paper, we construct a more realistic satellite Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) network model which takes the visibility of satellites, number of antennas and their pointing range into consideration. Besides, we formulate a traffic-aware link assignment problem based on the model and propose a heuristic algorithm to solve it. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm takes less time to transmit traffic than usual fixed link assignment patterns. Moreover, by changing the weights different services, we can adjust their transmission time.","PeriodicalId":148136,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132871746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most of the world-wide countries have been affected by the pandemic in terms of different life sectors such as economic, education, trading, to mention but a few. This is due to adopting Lockdown or Curfew strategies aiming at mitigating the spread of the disease. However, many indicators should be taken into consideration before adopting such strategies (e.g., population distribution). Moreover, adopting a particular strategy may work in a particular geographical area, but it may not work in other areas. This issue has not been given enough attention in the literature. Therefore, the contribution of this work is to investigate the impact of the population distribution of cities (e.g., Iraq) on the current pandemic outbreaks. The experiments demonstrate that it is not necessary to adopt a particular strategy for the whole country. The results of this work can be useful to the officials of a country in terms of mitigating the impact in economic during the pandemic.","PeriodicalId":148136,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130270131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The implementation of machine learning technologies such as Deep Neural Network (DNN), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) have enabled the derivation of channel estimation techniques which provide more accurate estimation in comparison with accuracy provided by other well-known estimation techniques. ELM has faster learning ability compared to that of the other aforementioned technologies. This paper focuses on the ELM based receiver design for 2×2 MIMO OFDM system. The determination of the output layer neuron, a component in ELM technique, on the basis of symbol type (number of bits per symbol) has been proposed. The performance of the proposed receiver is evaluated in terms of Bit Error Rate (BER) and compared with that of the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) based receiver. Improved performance has been achieved by means of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":148136,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121514675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since some resources, e.g., ternary content addressable memory, SRAM, and computing capacity, are often limited in SDN switches, traffic measurements based on flow tables or sampling become infeasible. Sketch, a hash-based data structure, monitors every packet with fixed-size memory to provide a feasible approach of traffic measurement, but there exists a tradeoff between accuracy and memory. Currently, many efficient sketch algorithms have been designed to different purposes, but they focus on the performance and applications of one single sketch. In this paper, we present a scheme to reduce redundant flow statistics collected by sketches of different SDN switches. The proposed scheme could reduce measurement overhead in sketches, obtain more accurate estimate flow size, and find the elephant flow precisely.","PeriodicalId":148136,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT)","volume":"77 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120819595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each affected traffic attempts to be restored through the best alternate path among alternate paths offered. Some conventional routing schemes are commonly used to solve problems in IP over optical networks, namely k-shortest paths (KSP), hop count (HC), and link-disjoint (LD). The three schemes are fixed-alternate routing (FAR) schemes. However, the alternate paths it generates cannot adjust to the current network conditions due to a router outage. Therefore, this study proposes an adaptive routing, i.e., adaptive lightpath reconfiguration paths (ALRP) routing. ALRP routing explores the number of paths between the source and destination pairs for each affected traffic and then selects the best alternate paths by maximizing the utilization of unaffected lightpaths. The goal is to minimize costs relate to the number of lightpath reconfiguration and additional power consumption due to the recovery of affected traffic. Based on simulations conducted using two network topologies, namely seven-node topology and NSFNET topology, it was found that the proposed ALRP routing produced better results compared to the three conventional routing schemes in minimizing the addition of both costs.","PeriodicalId":148136,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114262135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With diacritic restoration, one can text faster and easier. Diacritic restoration is also helpful in making use of diacritic-missing texts, which are normally discarded in many NLP applications. This paper deals with the diacritic restoration problem for Vietnamese text. Three state- of-the-art deep learning models including Gated Recurrent Unit, Bidirectional Long-short Term Memory and Bidirectional Gated Recurrent Unit have been examined for the problem and the last one turned out to be the best among them. Besides deep learning models, it was found in this paper that word tokenization, which is the final pre-processing step applied on the data before feeding it to deep learning models also have influences on the final accuracy. Between two examined word tokenization methods: morpheme-based tokenization and phrase-based tokenization, the former yield better results regardless of the applied deep learning models. The experimental results show that the combination of morpheme-based tokenization and Bidirectional-GRU achieve the best performance of diacritic restoration with the Bleu-score of 88.06%.","PeriodicalId":148136,"journal":{"name":"2021 IEEE International Conference on Communication, Networks and Satellite (COMNETSAT)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121457939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
