Research subject was 164 mothers who have an infant and live in Beijing, Chongqing, or Shijiazhuang. The method of research was individual semi-structured interview. The results of the research showed that there are only 20% of families who purchase formula from China. Many people “have a friend in abroad send it to them”, “purchase directly from a foreign website” and “purchase it themselves in a foreign country” to purchase formula made in other countries. The feeling of distrust for the safety of Chinese formula is strong and they mentioned the reasons “there is a possibility that there is something that is bad for the body”, “there are problems in production process and storage method” and “there is a possibility that it is fake”. When we asked if they want to purchase Japanese formula if they can, more than 70% people said they do not want to. The reasons were worries for radiation contamination, difficulties in purchasing so they cannot keep giving it to their child, anti-Japanese sentiment, and content of iodine. Parents with children did not trust the information released by Chinese government and companies. Although the reliability of the content is not clear, they avoid the product that is commented as dangerous. As the results of a comparison of the two dietary surveys, the difference in the mean values of energy intake was -1 . 2 to +2 . 9 % , showing the validity of the data. With regard to the level of nutrient intake, the validity was also confirmed, as the difference in values of energy-producing nutrients was less than ±10% for most items. On the other hand, the validity of the data for vitamins was not confirmed, as the difference was more than ±10 % for many items. This variation may be caused by the difference in the time of measurement between the food-weighing method ( 1 day ) and BDHQ ( 1 month ) . The results of this study showed that the implementation of the BDHQ during the prefectural survey is effective in reducing the burden on investigators, and may contribute to understanding the regular nutritional intake of people in the Prefecture and improving their health awareness through feedback of the questionnaire results. However, its introduction to the prefectural survey should be carefully considered, keeping in mind the low validity of","PeriodicalId":14708,"journal":{"name":"Journal for The Integrated Study of Dietary Habits","volume":"103 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91432731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prevalence of higher hemoglobin A1c ( HbA1c ) levels and the age adjusted mortality rates of diabetes are high in women in Choshi City in Chiba prefecture. Our previous findings suggested an association between HbA1c levels and dietary habits in young women in the city. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the association between HbA1c with ingested nutrients/ foods. The study enrolled 372 women ( age, 20-39 y ) who attended a medical examination conducted by the city during 2015 and provided written, informed consent to participate.
