From the academic year 2007- 2008, the evaluation of the Mentoring Program of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación (PM-ETSIT) at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC), which is currently in its seventh year of operation, involves as a differential factor a complementary evaluation based on specific satisfaction surveys completed by Mentees after staying three years at the University. They have different properties, but they can enrich and complement each other. What can be done so that learners can access contents which correspond exactly to their needs? How can the contents placed at the disposal of the target community be validated? In the second and third part of the article there is the description of main tools in WebCT and ways of students' motivation in the course Business theory and the chosen elements of the constructivism. The fourth part summarizes and analyzes the evaluative questionnaire from the students. Data were collected at the end of the economic subject (business theory). SE practitioners must confront the business need for persistent innovation and build appropriate future workforce culture. Agile software development approaches view change from a perspective that reflects today's tumultuous business and technology environments. Introducing these innovative methodologies, along with the more traditional Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) method, in IT departments is a challenging task. Such task requires not only technology expertise and knowledge, but also the human side of organization, team, and individual readiness to accepting such a challenge. To deal with this latter side, the paper employs creative thinking processes and the four brain concept. The remote lab is designed for running experiments on a normal BJT common emitter amplifier circuit, while maintaining the possibility for the students to use a wide range of different setups. Hunger","doi":"10.1109/EDUCON.2011.5773229","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/EDUCON.2011.5773229","url":null,"abstract":"The present paper reports a study on identifying pattern of changes in self-esteem and personality traits among UKM-UDE double degree students who study in both UKM in Malaysia and University of Duisburg-Essen (UDE) in Germany. A longitudinal design of data collection was employed. Students responded to the Rosenberg Self-esteem and Big Five personality inventory (BFI) at three different times throughout one year. Data analysis indicated that there were significant changes in self-esteem and some noticeable pattern of change in the personality traits within one year stay in UDE campus. These findings suggest that new, intercultural environment and goal modification experienced by the students could probably cause the changes in the students' self-esteem and personality traits. The Double-degree programme seems to bear positive impact on the overall personality development of future engineers. This paper presents an analysis of Maintenance Management training and competence assessment requirements, including results of a user survey conducted in EU countries. On the basis of this, a maintenance management curriculum has been defined. The design principles for a e-learning and self-assessment tool for maintenance management training and competencies assessment are outlined. The iLearn2Main tool has been developed based on an open source Learning Management System and is currently delivered in five European languages. It has been pilot-tested by user groups from industry and academia. We have developed several outreach activities to help introduce K-12 students and their teachers to computer science through workshops on CS such as education, problem solving through puzzles, programming through Alice, robotics, and high school programming competitions.
