In this work, we create colorblind aid system. This paper compares speech feature created using SAPI5.1 with speech feature created manually using phoneme concatenation and DTW, and assess their performance in WinCE6 and WES09 embedded OS environment. The testing for speech feature is conducted by 10 respondents to identify words synthesized by systems and to say words to be recognized by systems. Testing for the OS is conducted by observing size, boot time, and their support for the speech feature. As the result, speech feature created using SAPI5.1 is better than the manually-created one, with success rate 88, 33% for speech synthesis and 75, 87% and 74, 76% subsequently for speech recognition in silent and noisy condition. The second test shows that WES09 is more suitable for this particular system due to its support for .NET and SAPI5.1.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117329859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new method allows the user to look around freely while the wheelchair navigates automatically to the desired goal point. Only EOG signals are used to control the wheelchair, eye gazing and blinking. The user can still choose to control the wheelchair using the classic manual method in case the environment and obstacles structure does not help with the auto navigation method. In the new auto navigation method the micro controller can know the goal point direction and distance by calculating the gaze angle that the user is gazing at. Tangent Bug algorithm is used to navigate the wheelchair in Auto controlling method. Experimental results are similar to simulated with minimum error, due to minimal positioning and sensing errors.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125309744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The discriminative Palmprint features were extracted from a pre-processed acquired images using easily available and low cost camera. Distances from endpoints to endpoints and point of interception to endpoints were calculated and transformed to frequency domain by the application of Discrete Fourier Transformed (DFT) technique. The extracted K-points DFT coefficients has been used as the discriminating features for recognition and identification purposes using correlation technique, power spectral matching and Euclidean distance measure. The proposed technique has been observed to be rotation, scale and translation invariant and accuracy of 100% was achieved in a 1-to-4 recognition and classification verification.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124881479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Bioinformatics mainly deals with solving biological problems at molecular levels. One of the classic problems of bioinformatics which has gain a lot attention lately is Haplotyping, the goal of which is categorizing SNP-fragments into two clusters and deducing a haplotype for each. Since the problem is proved to be NP-hard, several computational and heuristic methods have addressed the problem seeking feasible answers. In this paper, harmony search (HS) is considered as a clustering approach. Extensive computational experiments indicate that the designed HS algorithm achieves a higher accuracy than the genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to the MEC model in most cases.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120954734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Single back plane bus is limited by latency whereas cross-bar bus architecture comparatively requires more silicon space. The single bus is subjected to the entire load of the switch and at the same time it cannot support concurrent communication corresponding to multiple requests, results in waiting time causes abbreviation in throughput. The proposed solution introduces an ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) to determine the traffic condition over a period of time and corresponding to that it controls a section of MOSFET (Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistors) switches, connecting plurality of switch port to plurality of bus. The switch ports are grouped together in a manner such that each group encompasses only those switch ports which have preeminence communication among them. Each group of switch ports is mapped to discrete bus. A bridge is used to interconnect plurality of bus and contentions are resolved by a local and a central arbiter.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132928905","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes an approach based on 256 discrete orthonormal Tchebichef polynomials for efficient speech recognition. The method uses a simplified set of recurrence relation matrix to compute within each window. Unlike the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), discrete orthonormal Tchebichef transform (DTT) provides simpler matrix setting which involves real coefficient number only. The comparison among 256 DTT, 1024 DTT and 1024 FFT has been done to recognize five vowels and five consonants. The experimental results show the practical advantage of 256 Discrete Tchebichef Transform in term of spectral frequency and time taken of speech recognition performance. 256 DTT produces frequency formants relatively identical similar output with 1024 DTT and 1024 FFT in term of speech recognition. The 256 DTT has a potential to be a competitive candidate for computationally efficient dynamic speech recognition.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124594126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, real-time databases require tight control and, particularly, they need to take into account temporal aspects of data and timing constraints on transactions. This paper is about the application of the object-oriented technology to model complex objects in the context of real-time databases. It suggests a real-time object model that incorporates time-constrained data, timeconstrained transactions, and concurrency control mechanisms. This model can be integrated easily in existed object oriented method and permits automatic code generation of all the realtime code of an application.","PeriodicalId":146712,"journal":{"name":"2011 First International Conference on Informatics and Computational Intelligence","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128861393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
