Collective mindfulness in the context of organizational information systems (IS) has significant effects on effectiveness and performance. We found that upper management concern and support for IS influences organizational performance through collective mindfulness. Upper management concern for typical and atypical situations and their associated repercussions on performance require solutions in real-time and concern for alternative problem-solving methods. Collective mindfulness addresses the notion of a more in-depth and purposeful analysis of potential catalysts negatively affecting performance. Future studies are encouraged to strengthen this study through construct improvement including the addition of relevant dimensions to collective mindfulness.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. This replication paper used trust and perceived risk, in addition to the technology acceptance model (TAM) factors of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use, to determine how consumer’s behavioral intentions affect online transactions (Moqbel & Bartelt, 2015). Two hundred forty participants took part in the 15-minute survey, with the option of choosing either online or paper format. This paper provides additional materials and details on how the survey was conducted. Step-by-step explanations are provided for the design, procedures, consent form, survey instructions, and the survey questions. We hope that this background paper will allow others a better understanding of our replication research and will also enable others to adapt our methodological techniques into their research.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. Information stopping rules consider the cognitive reasons decision makers determine when enough information is collected to make a decision. Previous research outlines five stopping rules decision makers use and applies them in different decision context. The original research considers three information search tasks (search for a television, map, and job) and hypothesizes the relationship between structure of the task and the stopping rule employed. This research replicates that study in a new information environment with new search methodologies and technology. We find that structured tasks use similar stopping rules to the original study; however further analysis shows distinct differences in the nature of the two tasks presented. Poorly structured tasks potentially involve the use of different stopping rules than previously determined. The updated findings suggest information systems used for poorly structured search tasks might also benefit from highlighting the uniqueness of information in order to encourage a user to continue searching for information.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. This study leveraged the use of the fear appeals model (FAM) in the context of information security as they pertain to the individual use of anti-spyware software. We adopt all measures, instruments, statistical tests, theory, and models from the original study, but apply them to the Amazon Mechanical Turk population. The results from this replication study are not consistent with the original study, in that two of the five posited hypotheses have opposite effects than those originally found; threat severity is shown to have a positive effect on both response efficacy and selfefficacy, where in the original study, this is shown to have a negative effect on both. The results imply that there may be differences in which populations the study was conducted, thus requiring additional samples and statistical tests.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. Whereas the original study investigated individuals’ spyware related threat perceptions, avoidance motivations, and behaviors; we applied the original study’s research questions, hypotheses, and model to the more general context of malware. Results from a sample of 486 computer users revealed that safeguard effectiveness, safeguard cost, and self-efficacy are relatively robust predictors of avoidance motivation across varied settings. Perceived severity is a strong predictor of perceived threat, however the impact of this overall threat perception (along with its perceived susceptibility antecedent) may be less stable in predicting avoidance motivation under changing contextual/environmental circumstances. The results suggest that TTAT is a valid foundational framework for examining user behavior related to malicious software. Future research should investigate additional predictors of avoidance motivation such as risk propensity, distrust, and impulse control to improve the power of the model. Additionally, the current TTAT instrument offers several opportunities for enhanced measurement accuracy through item modifications, scale anchor revisions, and improvements in parsimony.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. However, unlike the organizational context in which the model was developed, the social media context encourages self-disclosure of information among users and social media platform providers. Consequently, users’ concern for social media information privacy (CFSMIP) is expected to manifest differently as compared to CFIP in other contexts. In an effort to advance science in the privacy domain in Information Systems, this study therefore argues that the existing privacy model needs to be replicated in this new context to assess its validity and explanation power. Based on a sample of avid social media users, this study explores the factor structure of the four dimensions of concern for information privacy instrument posited in prior research and validated across several contexts. Exploratory factor analysis and a consequent confirmatory factor analysis revealed three first-order factors structure in the social media context. Additional analysis revealed that the three-factor second order structure of CFSMIP outperforms the four-factor second order structure from prior research.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. In both studies, social networking site use has significant effects on organizational commitment and job satisfaction, and job satisfaction also has a significant impact on job performance and organizational commitment. In comparison with the U.S., we find that social networking site use in Pakistan has no significant impact on job performance through the mediating effect of job satisfaction, yet has a significant effect on organizational commitment and job satisfaction. In conclusion, although social networking site use does not have an impact on job performance per se, it does have significant effects on other work-related outcomes—job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Future studies are encouraged to methodologically replicate this study in several different countries to examine whether results hold and conceptually replicate this study by measuring presenteeism and work-life balance as mediators to see if the theorizing of the original study holds.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. The focus of this paper is on replicating IS Continuance Model (Bhattacherjee, 2001) in the mobile banking context. We collected data by surveying 256 college students who were users of mobile banking applications of multiple banks in the U.S. The hypotheses were also tested using Structural Equation Modeling technique (SEM), with AMOS version 23. All five hypotheses of the model were supported, with 67% explained variance for the “continuance intention,” as the dependent variable. Our findings show that the IS Continuance Model, which was originally tested by surveying the users of web-based banking services of one bank, is supported in a modern related context and is generalizable to the mobile banking applications users.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans. For this the original scale items were adapted to the new context, and the model was tested with the data collected from 307 customers of a large technology firm who voluntarily participated in a knowledge sharing activity in Second Life, a 3D virtual world platform. Overall, the replication results support the original model in the new setting – customers of a service firm involved in real life knowledge sharing activity in Second Life. Similar to the original study, this study finds that cognitive absorption positively influences perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. In addition, unlike the original study, this replication study also finds support for positive relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness.","PeriodicalId":146711,"journal":{"name":"AIS Trans.
