Most of the air-interface processes such as signal processing and data multiplexing are done on a programmable software environment. The latest SDR platforms utilize the power of general-purpose processor (GPP) to perform all of the real-time computations and several wideband communication systems are prototyped. Nevertheless, the lack of universal real-time timing control and synchronization process make implemented GPP-based SDR platforms difficult to simulate time crucial multi-user cellular communication scenarios. Focus on the problem of time synchronization on SDR platforms, this paper presents a software-based time synchronization mechanism, which is called software time synchronization (STS). On that basis, a real-time and high precision clock source is designed on GPP-based SDR platforms and the multi-user communication system is synchronized utilizing round-trip delay (RTD) algorithm. Long-term experiments showed that a SDR prototype using STS is able to simulate TDMA-based cellular communications. The results also indicate that the STS synchronization errors are within several microseconds.","PeriodicalId":143739,"journal":{"name":"7th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"44 10","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120983490","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But there also exist some limitations or drawbacks in those MAC protocols. They can not utilize the communication resources efficiently, such as MIMA-MAC, PRP-MAC, etc. In this paper, we propose a MAC protocol based on dynamically adjusting the waiting time of CTS packets in MIMO ad hoc networks called DACW-MAC. It can allocate the antenna resources optimally by dynamically adjusting the priority of CTS. The shorter the waiting time of CTS is, the higher the priority of CTS is. We analyze the performance of DACW-MAC and evaluate it through extensive simulations. The simulation results show that DACW-MAC can enhance the throughput of wireless networks compared with PRP-MAC.","PeriodicalId":143739,"journal":{"name":"7th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131656346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the highly complex grid-search process involved in the MMSE estimation, the alternating minimization method is employed to simplify the MMSE cost function such that the multiuser carrier frequency offset (CFO), sampling timing offset (STO), and channel frequency response (CFR) can be estimated in an iterative approach which is more feasible for practical systems. Moreover, with the delicately designed orthogonal RS, multiuser RS interference can be effectively suppressed. Finally, the performance of the joint estimator is analytically investigated from the perspectives of estimation error and Cramer-Rao bound (CRB). Simulation results indicate that the proposed scheme can achieve almost ideal performance for both synchronization and channel estimation.","PeriodicalId":143739,"journal":{"name":"7th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134224701","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By mixing the unknown signal with a continuous linear changing local oscillator signal, a difference frequency signal will be generated, which will be sent to the stochastic resonance system. Thus, an obviously changed output can be obtained. Because the stochastic resonance system is extremely sensitive to low frequency, the system will have a maximum output when the local oscillator and frequency of the unknown signal are closest. The frequency of the unknown signal will be measured precisely from the local oscillator frequency and the difference frequency. It can be inferred from the theoretical analysis and numerical simulation that this method has a large detection range, high resolution, and good prospect.","PeriodicalId":143739,"journal":{"name":"7th International Conference on Communications and Networking in China","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133285664","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
