It attracts a great number of people from all over the world who search for inspiration, pure energy and appeasement. But at the moment, the Sacred Sea needs not only cries of admiration but rather protection, security — the real acts in preservation of the crystal purity water. The Chinese mass media pays particular attention to the topic of Baikal. Not only to its rich flora and fauna but also to the vital ecological problems. The article makes an effort to highlight some of these with reference to the Chinese web-based media.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132244842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Deepening of Russian-Chinese trade and economic cooperation meets the national interests and aspirations of Russia and China, playing a catalytic role in the development of bilateral relations and stabilizing the political and economic situation on the Eurasian continent and in the world. The development of Russian-Chinese trade relations have undergone many cooperative processes, and trade itself overtime has revealed its own pecularities, related to the time and political climate. Russia and China are the two largest economic powers in the world, and they have significant prospects and potential for cooperation. After China put forward the «One Belt and One Way» strategic development plan, the prospect of cooperation between the two countries has attracted an increasing attention. The article analyzes the history and current state of bileteral strategic trade relations. Some research opinions are put forward considering structural changes in the development process.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133904161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The choice of the newspaper for the analysis is determined by three factors: its oriental trend, growing print run and popularity, participation of famous scientists, travelers, public figures in creating the content. In the newspaper editorial board, for the Russian periphery at the Asian border «in the interests of this very periphery it never hampers to learn the neighboring countries,» thus «increasing the horizons», “to renounce the hackneyed prejudices and the fear to be faulted for Asian barbarism». Materials about China and Japan were present almost in each issue, which testifies the newspaper’s permanent interest in the oriental neighbors of the Russian empire. With general eurocentrism of relations to Japan and China, a dichotomy was kept in regard of several plotlines: he militant and reformative potentials, the role in international policy. Depending on historical circumstances, some or other features grew stronger, often being hypertrophied in mass consciousness or, vice versa, «being dissolved» in generalized images and stereotypes of the oriental (Asian) world. The dichotomy of the Orient’s two images — the progressive, dynamically Europeanizing Japan and the fossilized, obstinate in its conservatism China — became a stable stereotype for «Vostochnoye Obozreniye», too. The government of Japan and the government of China were also contradistinguished in their reformative potentials and methods of governance. In general, the newspaper assessed the military, political, civil experience of the Japanese authorities more complementary than the Chinese governors and officials. The newspaper did nor model and did not translate the image of the enemy but took into account the potential geopolitical danger of the eastern neighbors.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121151717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It pays particular attention to international ties with China which became an area of foreign-political interests of the Pacific Region countries. \u0000The article makes a conclusion of existence of common ideas and regularities in arising and development such state formations. In today’s context, political leadership plays a crucial role in development of each country, since in terms of globalization processes it is one of the key moments of the spread of state influence on society. Thanks to the media, the activities of the political leader become public, and China is no exception — here also the representation of political leadership occupies a prominent place in the national media discourse. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the fact that no philosophical aspects of political leadership in the national media discourse have been previously studied. The article also focuses on the influence of media discourse on the process of change in the perception of political leadership in China. The research methodology consists in the analysis of scientific publications and practical experience in the functioning of Chinese society. It also carries out a content analysis of media publications on a given problem. Based on the results of the analysis, it makes a conclusion that that the institution of political leadership in China has many specific characteristics arising from the doctrine of «paternalism with Chinese characteristics». It also confirmed the hypothesis that modern ideas about political leadership in China have a close relationship with Chinese philosophy and this relationship is traced in the national media discourse.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126784075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the USSR, V. Alexeev school was established, in which one of the most famous translators was A. Shtukin. His Russian translation of “Shijing” is considered the first and the most complete one. The object of research in this article is Russian translation of the song in “Wang kingdom's songs” “Longing for the Husband”| by A. Shtukin. “Longing for the Husband” is the brightest folk song in “Gofen” (“Characters of Kingdoms”) in Shijing. In this article, the analysis of the graceful and most poetic translation of “Longing for the Husband” by A. Shchukin is carried out by commenting the poem, analyzing the translation of the original into modern Chinese by Cheng Junying and Jiang Jianyuan and comparing Russian and English translation. The author attempted to make a secondary improved translation of the original poem on the basis of A. Shtukin’s translation preserving the original rhythm and rhyme wherever possible. The secondary translation is closer to the original poem, it preserves and delivers the genuine resplendence of the poem. It also preserves A. Shtukin’s amphibrach and his individual style which has a lot of tune and distinguished style of classical Russian poetry. The author only introduces some lexical adjustments due to which it will be easier for a Russian reader to understand the poem.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"124 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124473378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditionally, the development of the Northern Sea Route has always been in the hands of Russia, but today, China is investing colossal resources in the implementation of the idea it suggested. Getting transport priorities right will not only help shorten the distance and time of cargos delivery but is also an opportunity for China to reinforce its positions in science, research and technology. Moreover, China is taking efforts to search for areas of reasonable investment, which will allow it to optimize the North-East transport direction as part of the \"Ice Silk Road\" in the future. In 2018, the \"White Book\", \"China's Arctic Policy\" based on China's participation in the development of the Arctic and then the \"Blue Book\" were published, as the result of its scientific research in the North and the Arctic. In these books, China’s strategy and position as of a new “Northern” power is described. On the basis of the approved priority directions of its development, China sets specific tasks and completes them in the shortest possible time, which creates additional risks for Russia as the time frame of implementing projects as well as the multilateral agreements of China do not fully conform to Russia's position. Thus, since 2013, new vessels suitable for operation in the difficult conditions of the North have been built and launched together with the COSCO Shipping Group. As a result of the intensified activities of China in the North, the transport load has increased both on the Russian shipping companies of the Northern Sea Route and on the infrastructure of the ports, whereas investment implementation rate of the projects of their reconstruction remains low. As a consequence, China offers to participate in the modernization of a number of ports on the Ice Silk Road as well as in the collaborative exploration of the North.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133092891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the article is to identify Internet memes on Chinese information resources, depicting the image of Russia and its leader with the help of figurative and at the same time economical means, to determine the functions these memes perform, as well as the impact potential of memes. The objectives of the study include identifying the range of themes and issues for memes, their semantic content, tone, and means of expression. Тhe objectives also include the correlation of scientific approaches with the analysis of the phenomenon and the practical implementation of political memes, as well as showing the transformation of the media image of the country in different periods: from the USSR to the Russian Federation with the help of comparative analysis. The objectives also include identifying potential threats to the national identity of Russians. The examples were collected using the hashtags \"Russia\", \"USSR\" and \"Putin\" in the social network Sina Weibo and in the application Wechat, and also in the browser Baidu. The novelty of research is in the fact that the authors are not limited to the psycholinguistic tools of the study of Internet memes, but focus on the study of the structure of the created political images of Russia and on the functions they perform. The authors are interested in the creators of minimized texts, as well as in the ways memes spread. More than 100 memes became the basis for the study. Conclusions: a trend in the establishment of friendly relations between China and Russia has been identified. Memes depict generally positive experience of Russia and Vladimir Putin.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"65 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113938211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The value and impact of tourism are important not only on a country level but also on global level. Both developed and developing countries show positive developments in this sector. Countries try to stop being donor countries and become countries that attract tourists. Right now Russia is not a country that exports tourist services, so an amount of tourist departures exceeds the amount of tourist arrivals. One of the solutions to the problem can be developing and implementing tourism development policy in Olkhonsky District, Irkutsk oblast that will be focused on attracting Chinese tourists. The choice of an area is based on the fact that Irkutsk oblast takes third place in terms of the amount of incoming foreign tourists in Russia and it also has great capacity for further development because of unique Lake Baikal. The focus on Chinese tourists is determined by several facts: Russian travel agencies primarily attract tourists from China; Chinese tourists spend a high amount of money during their travel; Irkutsk oblast is of a particular interest to most of Chinese tourists.","PeriodicalId":143633,"journal":{"name":"Russian and Chinese Studies","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124602302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
