Efficiency indexes were proposed based on data for the period of 1946–2007 of the SEE in Poland, a model of the system development was developed, and changes in the efficiency indexes of the system were determined. Results concerning evaluative research of the development efficiency and analysis results of development models were also presented, including estimation of efficiency margin of the SEE system development.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128634784","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The intension is to contribute to the future solution for transit in the European Power Market. Cross-border trading is influenced by several mechanisms (congestion management, transit, tariffs, investment) which need to be examined from technical and economical point of view. All mechanisms are interconnected and represent an extensive and complicated set of problems. Cross border exchange has direct economic benefits leading to increased competition, increased market liquidity, stabilized prices and increased security of supply. In the Regulation 714/2009/EC and Guidelines 774/2010/EC (838/2010/EC) for ITC there is no clear definition of the benefits-concept and elements that should be considered. We will discuss some of the principles that are suggested and/or applied and study possible consequences. Some illustrations and calculations were done in MATLAB based on full AC optimal power flow. The balance between benefits and costs are analyzed depending on inter-area conditions. In the end we have proposed general algorithm for compensation of losses which include calculation of benefits with detailed principles: real losses with transits minus estimated losses without transits minus estimated benefits with transits. These principles could be applied to any future solution for transit.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121928351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, to diversify the risk of not meeting the long-term electricity delivery contracts, and secondly to achieve better results on the electricity market. This paper regards the case in which a wind power plant and a solar power plant are joint together with a conventional gas power plant to act on the electricity market as a single agent. The problem is formulated as a mixed-integer linear programming model which incorporates long-term bilateral contracts with weekly forecasted hourly market prices. The aim of the optimization is to maximize the profit of the virtual power plant. The efficiency of the proposed model is rendered through two case studies and detailed analysis is provided.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122021646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That causes many problems in case of an “eligible producer who is also a consumer”. The purpose of the article is to initiate an improvement of existing approach to eligible producers. Optimal voltage schedule is determined in the day-ahead or hour-ahead planning phase as a result of an optimal power flow algorithm. Optimal power flow objective is a minimization of transmission losses with respect to power system security constraints. Optimal power flow inputs are power system load forecast and generation schedule, while the outputs of an optimization algorithm are voltages in generator's nodes, tap positions of on-load tap changing transformers and reactive power engagement of network compensation devices. The optimization algorithm is tested on Croatian transmission network. Voltage setting procedure is proposed in the paper. Architecture of the system for remote adjustment of control variables is described.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"262 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127144308","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It addresses the problem of voltage rise mitigation in DN with DG connected. The main focus is on a comparison of methods to increase the integration capacity of DG into DN and the technical requirements from the Distribution System Operator (DSO)'s point of view. The paper considers voltage rise issues in real-life DN that incorporate different types of DG such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and wind power generation. The objective of this study is to propose an approach that will demonstrate the impact of DN components on voltage profile violation caused by the connection of DG. The aim of the proposed approach is not to control the bus voltage but to guarantee that DG injection alone will not cause a significant voltage rise: a solution in which DNs are kept to their traditional task of voltage regulation for load demand. The approach is discussed from the perspective of effectiveness and adequacy. Validation of the study is carried out by using the ERAC power flow analysis software on a seven busbars DN which resembles a part of a real network consisting of number of DG units connected at the 38kV voltage level.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114883019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This agent based approach can be utilised to understand very complex market designs, such as those for an electricity market, with there being potential room for identifying potential problems with market power. By looking at the way in which a set of intelligent agents form optimal bids in a constrained electricity market, it is possible to identify where potential weaknesses are in the market design. Agents simulate the market repeatedly, aiming to find the Nash-Equilibrium point for the the market at the given time step. By predicting other agents reactionary moves, they can identify the best course of action, with this information it is possible to identify the contributing factors that have caused the agent's choice of action. As such, this work sets out to identify where and when an electricity market can be forced into undesirable situations, only as a result of optimised bidding and existing market constraints.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125598182","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, an analysis of the impacts of RES in-feeds on the spot market price spread as well as its volatility is presented. The potential risk that these impacts on spot prices may pose for the business model of pumped-storage hydro plants is discussed. Furthermore, the dependency of spot prices on wind turbine and PV electricity in-feeds are studied. The presented analysis focuses on the situation in Germany with its, in relative and absolute terms, high share of stochastic electricity in-feed and its mature spot market.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122880090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The access of country potentials in renewable resources in the form of biomass, hydro, wind, and solar continues to be low in rural areas. There are technical, social, cultural, institutional and economic barriers to the deployment of renewable energy systems and, thus, to their ability to contribute to the long term development of rural clean energy. This paper aims to analyze barriers and suggests promising approaches for overcoming them toward a sustainable development within the context of rural Albania.","PeriodicalId":143375,"journal":{"name":"2011 8th International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-05-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126693923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
