This study was a qualitative research, without ignoring quantitative data as supporting one. The strategy used in this research was a case study. The subject of research consisted of PT. Aneka Tambang, government and community, with 53 informants. Primary data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaire, in-depth interview, and FGD, while secondary one through documentation technique. To validate data, data and method triangulations were used, while technique of analyzing case study used was direct interpretation. Fundamental theory employed was Elkinton’s Triple Bottom Line and Bamberger and Cheema’s Sustainability Program theories. The result of research showed that in community empowerment, evaluation staged was not conducted maximally by PT. Antam. The implementation of CSR was still on caritative level. Most people were still dissatisfied because they got water in limited way and unevenly. From the result of research, it could be found that PT. Antam viewed that its existence in Nanggung Sub District was intended not to implement CSR, but to make gold exploration. This study offered the formula of sustainability program model. This model involved stakeholders, self-helping education, capacity development, monitoring and participative evaluation. The output of sustainability program included institutionalization and improved access. Institutionalization pertained to water-saving behavior and pollution control, while improved access included clean water availability and fair distribution. Keywords : Community Empowerment, CSR, Sustainability Program.","PeriodicalId":14282,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scientific Research in Education","volume":"69 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87414632","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A cross-sectional survey method was adopted to collect data from two hundred and thirty eight respondents with one hundred and fifteen (48.3%) males; and one hundred and twenty-three (51.7%) females and age ranging from 17 – 74 years with mean (χ) 44.3 years and standard deviation (SD) 12.1. The result of regression analysis suggested that hopelessness, life purpose, and gender were significant independent predictors of depression, while the variables jointly predicted depression; R = .44; F (7, 237) = 8.12; P < .005. Also, the variables jointly accounted for 17% (Adj. R 2 = .174) variance on the depression. Low life purpose has a significant influence on depression (t = 3.48; P <.05). In conclusion, the study found that the above psycho-demographic variable has significant influence on depression. Therefore, it was recommended that government, and non-governmental organizations should create more public awareness on the possible effect of those variables that was found to have negative influence on depression in our society.","PeriodicalId":14282,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scientific Research in Education","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75908132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Routing algorithms determine the specific choice of route. Each router has a priori knowledge only of networks attached to it directly. WSNs have great potential for many applications in scenarios such as military target tracking and surveillance, natural disaster relief, biomedical health monitoring and hazardous environment exploration and seismic sensing. In this synopsis, we propose an energy efficient data forwarding protocol called Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol (AODV/AOMDV) for wireless sensor networks to extend the life time of the network. Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) Routing is a routing protocol for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) and other wireless ad hoc networks . The AODV (Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector) routing protocol is a reactive routing protocol that uses some characteristics of proactive routing protocols. Routes are established on-demand, as they are needed. However, once established a route is maintained as long as it is needed. Reactive (or on-demand) routing protocols find a path between the source and the destination only when the path is needed (i.e., if there are data to be exchanged between the source and the destination). In AODV, both position information and energy are available at nodes used to route packets from sources to destination. The routing design of AODV is based on two parameters: location and energy levels of nodes. Each node knows the location and energy level of its neighbors. The performance measures have been analyzed with variable number of nodes. The simulations were carried out for different number of nodes.","PeriodicalId":14282,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scientific Research in Education","volume":"11 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88799479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pursuit of financial growth does not always lead to social advancement, and is often detrimental to the environment, resulting in unhealthy workplaces, exposure to toxic substances, urban decay and other similar issues. Managers and practitioners have often been criticized for being single minded about value maximization. The turn of events has pressurized firms to put serious efforts into a wide range of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. CSR has become a critical aspect in strategic decision making of a firm primarily due to financial scandals and a drop in investors’ confidence. CSR has emerged as a view that can add to the financial performance of a company and suggests that corporate decision-makers must take care of a range of social and environmental affairs in order to maximize long-term financial returns. Every firm differs in the way it mplement CSR in strategic business practices, with its size, operating industry, stakeholder demands, historical CSR engagement, level of diversification, research and development and labour market conditions a few of the factors that determine this decision making. One side of the coin confirms the benefits colligated with good reputation, while the other indicates that a firm’s costs of adhering to ethical standards will translate into higher product prices, a competitive disadvantage and lower profitability. Even after deep exploration of the Corporate Social Performance (CSP) relationship, empirical evidence to date is somewhat conflicting. Globalization and liberalization in the Indian economy has shifted corporate goals from a socio - economic focus towards increasing shareholders value to the benefit of various stakeholders. Although extensive research on CSR-CFP has been carried out in developed countries, there is a paucity of such studies in India. The main thrust of the current study is to get intimate with this issue or devise a problem along with attaining new insights into it. This study intends to get to grips with and derive the perceptivity of corporate social behaviour towards its stakeholders along with justifying its triple bottom line benefits while filling the literary gap through replicating and extending previous findings on social performance of firms. In doing so, this study also attempts to analyze in detail the aforesaid relationship and discuss the effectiveness of social performance along with competitive performance of sample Indian companies. The results identify critical Indian CSR factors and determine their importance in shaping the CSP relationship, on the basis of which further research in sectors identified as weak may be carried out.","PeriodicalId":14282,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Scientific Research in Education","volume":"222 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86557212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
