Research purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of Training and Development on organisational performance using a case study, literature review and statistics of the Department of Economic Development in the Gauteng Province. Motivation for the study: The motivation of this study is that the South African government department spends millions of Rand’s on Training and Development of its workforce, however, these departments continue to perform poorly. Research approach/design and method: This study used a descriptive quantitative research design. Data analysis employed descriptive statistics and inferential statistics and the sample included 131 employees. Main findings: The main findings of the study are that Training and Development has a positive impact on the performance of the employees in the department. The department provides Training and Development programmes that are not relevant to the tasks of employees. Training evaluation is the most ignored step in the training process and the department does not have a tool to measure the impact of training and development. Practical/managerial implications: The study proposed that the department should adopt Kirkpatrick’s model for evaluating training programmes and skills and knowledge learned from training should be considered. Contribution/value-add: This study will bring new scientific knowledge of the impact of Training and Development on organisational performance within the Gauteng Provincial Department of Economic Development.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126593668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Simultaneously, other cities are stagnating due to emigration. In this paper, we will use comparisons between cities, and at the national levels respectively, to argue that links between transportation and labor distribution may be related. We argue that transportation development may underlie both problems. Based on previous literature, we provide insights into how transportation can lead to labor redistribution and practical solutions to solve these problems.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122600156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In high-tech enterprises with team work as the mainstay, the recruitment and selection of team members has always been a concern of enterprises. As the first module of human resource management, recruitment is an important task of human resource management and development. Whether a company can recruit the people it needs is the key to the success or failure of the company. This paper analyzes 300 valid samples using stepwise regression analysis, and analyzes team work characteristics to study team self-determination within the team. The recruitment effect is measured in this paper using human-organization matching. The research results show that team independent decision-making positively affects human-organization matching. Task interdependence and implicit coordination have a significant positive adjustment effect on the relationship between the two. The research provides a new way for enterprise personnel recruitment.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"26 22","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113942083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although social entrepreneurship research has achieved great development in the past decade, the research results in various fields are still scattered and lack of a systematic logical framework, which hinders its rapid growth into a more potential research field. Combining the Timmons entrepreneurial model with Shane and Venkataraman’s entrepreneurial opportunity process research ideal, we take the sources, identification and utilization of social entrepreneurship opportunities as the basis, and at the same time contact with social entrepreneurship subjects and resources to deeply explore the interaction and dynamic balance between various elements from the perspective of entrepreneurship process. Then, we explore the constructive integration analysis framework of social entrepreneurship, which has important theoretical and practical significance for further deepening and expanding social entrepreneurship research.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"21 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120916997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Work-related stress has become one of the most common compensated illness in many countries around the world. Therefore, there is a growing international research interest to identify how employees experience stress and specific job-related triggers of stress, which in turn helps to create employee friendly policies and conducive organizational cultures. In working environments several job characteristics have been suggested to influence workers’ well-being and functioning negatively. Job demands-resource literature suggests that these job demands may lead to job burnout and health impairment process of employees. A significant body of literature is available on work-related stress, job demands and burnout. However, there is limited research on occupation-specific job demands and its effects. This study explores job demands and its effects on judicial officers in Sri Lanka. Qualitative methodology was deployed, and fifty-four semi-structured, in-depth interviews were conducted with judicial officers in Sri Lanka. The fact that rewards have a positive impact on promoting innovation is well established. However, this relationship is complex since different types of rewards are suited for various kinds and stages of innovation. Further, an alternate view undermines the role of rewards in promoting innovation. Through an exhaustive literature review, this study illustrates the complex relationship between rewards and innovation as well as the role of rewards in promoting innovation. This analysis throws light on the utility of various rewarding practices in promoting innovation. Thus, understanding the complexities of rewards systems for engaging talents in processes of creativity and innovation reflects the needs to design rewards systems, which strategically and ethically fits any organizational entity. Hence, both theorists and practitioners need a more holistic approach in designing a dynamic rewards system that encompasses issues of role, timing and magnitude of the rewards in order to drive innovation.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123671426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The focus of this paper is on the ability to achieve strategic goals—strategy execution, and it has three conclusions. Firstly it redefines that strategy execution is the ability of achieving strategy; secondly, the factors which can have effect on strategy execution can be divided into three kinds: strategic management, attitude of members and mechanisms of organization; it finally puts forward corresponding suggestions from strategic management, personnel management and organizational mechanisms to provide guidance for enterprises.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114857340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The human resource pooling can happen on structural changes, merging and clustering, alteration of existing business processes and policies in accordance with the new pool combination. With the resource pooling, one can avoid additional staff training due to attrition and recruitment costs which are costly and time-consuming activity in finding suitable replacements. Migration into the new system creates certain cultural gaps and this gap further increases even while adapting to new technology. Resource pooling reduces the employees slack or waiting time in the process and motivates the employees for team work. In this research case study, the authors report the effect and results of resource pooling in an IT conglomerate where significant cost savings and improvement in the efficiency of the people in functions like finance, human resources, administration and other related departments are realized.","PeriodicalId":140802,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Human Resource and Sustainability Studies","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131752669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
