Spodopteralittoralis had seven peaks starting from the 1 st week of May until the 3 rd week of October during the two studied seasons. The highest number of average moths was recorded insex pheromone traps during the end of July which being 66.0 and 63.0moth /trap/ 3 night in both seasons, respectively. It was noted the predicted peaks of generations could be detected when the accumulated thermal units recorded 525.42 DD's.As recorded the peaks for the detected seven generations varied from -3 to +3 days from the observed peaks. For better prediction of the S. littoralis the period between the observed and expected peaks should be positive at least one or two days when early preparation of control materials are of great important, consequently, it is necessary to design an program for controlling this pest renewed annually depends on climate changes an addition to the use of insecticide program for better prediction and controlling of the cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121363402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Control strategies for B. zonata in Egypt are mainly based on the use of conventional chemical pesticides. The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of five pesticides i.e., malathion, methomyl, lambodcyhalothrin, imidacloprid, and spinosad against the three field strains of B. zonata, in addition to susceptible strain. The results showed that, the tested insecticides against the adult stage of susceptible strain of B. zonata arranged descendingly according to LC50 values as followed: λ-cyhalothrin, imidacloprid, methomyl, malathion and spinosad and the corresponding LC50 values were 0.5, 0.5, 0.76, 1.04, and 1.09 ppm, respectively. While when evaluating the same pesticides on the three field strains from three different locations in Sohag governorate (Maragah, Tahta and Shatwra), the results showed that,in Maragah strain was more susceptible than other strains to pesticides λ-cyhalothrin, imidacloprid, and malathion with LC50 values, 15.22, 31,40, and 30,49 ppm, respectively. While Shatwra strain was the most susceptible to spinosad and Tahta strain to the methomyl pesticide. Likewise, results indicated that the order of the tested field strains of malathion, λ-cyhalothrin and imidacloprid based on the degree of resistance was in descendingly arranged as followed: Tahta, Shatwra, and Maragah, respectively, whereas the corresponding resistance degrees were as follows; (76.95, 51.62, and 29.38)., (84.53, 64.23., and 30.28)., and (241.17, 101.68, and 62.45) – fold. On the other hand, for methomyl and spinosad, the arrangement differed, as the three field strains were arranged according to their degree of resistance to methomyl as follows: in Shatwra was (462.09 fold), Maragah was (307.94 fold) and Tahta was (178.95 fold), respectively, while for spinosad it was in Tahta (27.08), Maragah (26.16) and Shatwra (19.88) - fold. The development of resistance to spinosad was observed for the peach fruit fly, thus, we recommended looking for other alternative insecticides in integrated pest management programs.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120936611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was aimed to investigate the chemical composition, functional properties, and antioxidant activity of wheat bran fermented by lactic acid bacteria, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae as active dry yeast in the solid-state. Bioactive compounds (free, bound, and total phenolic acids), antioxidant activity, functional properties were evaluated. Likewise, water-extractable arabinoxylans and phytic acid degradation were determined in fermented and non-fermented wheat bran. After treatments, protein, fiber, ash, and fat contents in fermented bran were raised than non-fermented bran. Total, free phenolic content and antioxidant activity increased after solid-state fermentation. Phytic acid content decrement of 36.5% and water-extractable arabinoxylans increment four times were observed in fermented bran. As well as, protein solubility, water holding capacity, water-solubility, oil holding capacity of fermented wheat bran were improved. Thus, the solid-state fermentation is an efficient technique and can be applied to enhance the nutritional and functional properties of wheat bran, as well as utilized as ingredients in food applications.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130095197","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
