Two field experiments were carried out at the Agricultural Research Farm at Al-Kawamel site, Faculty of Agriculture, Sohag University, Sohag Governorate, Egypt during 2019 and 2020 seasons to study effect of two irrigation systems; surface and drip irrigation, three rates of nitrogen (N) fertilizer and three splitting of N rates on yield and its components of cultivar Giza 90 cotton. In each season, separate trial was conducted for each irrigation system and the combinations between N fertilization rates and splitting N fertilizer rates. A field experiment was designed as randomized complete block with split-plot arrangement of treatment with three replications, whereas rates of nitrogen fertilizer were allocated to the main plots and the sub-main plots include splitting of nitrogen fertilizer. Results indicated that sowing Egyptian cotton crop (Giza 90) cultivar in newly reclaimed sandy soil with drip irrigation system, fertilization at a rate of 90 kg or 75 kg nitrogen per feddan with splitting to 4 doses, caused to maximized productivity through increased significantly the seed cotton yield 6.50 and 6.33 kentar/feddan, respectively. Drip irrigation system saved the amount of water required per feddan to almost a quarter (25%) compared to the surface irrigation, under conditions of the area under the study.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124389019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the aforementioned research problem, this study aims to identify the marketing systems and study the different marketing margins for the banana crop in Sohag Governorate. In achieving its objectives, the study relied on measuring the marketing margins, the intermediaries' share of the consumer's price, and the marketing efficiency of the banana crop in Sohag Governorate. The study also relied on preliminary data that was completed through the questionnaire form in Sohag Governorate, as well as books and scientific references, research and scientific studies related to the subject of research and study. It was found through the results of this study and from the study of the marketing paths of the banana crop in Sohag Governorate in 2021 according to the marketing systems (from producer to consumer, from producer to wholesaler, from wholesaler to retailer, from retailer to consumer) it was found that the marketing margin Each of these four systems was estimated at 1432,8, 505, 485, and 2173, respectively. By examining the differences between the average profits between the different marketing paths under study, it was found that there are significant differences between them, as the marketing path from the retailer to the consumer came directly in the first order with an average of 1969 pounds, and then followed in the second order by the rest of the marketing paths under study in the second order and on Equally important, with an average of about 453,285,453 pounds, respectively. In light of the results that have been reached, the study recommends the following: 1Providing data and information on prices and the nature of competition within each market, in addition to conducting studies on available markets and knowing their needs. 2Attention to improving the marketing efficiency of the banana crop by reducing marketing costs and reducing the role of intermediaries in the marketing process 3Forming companies or associations to market agricultural products that are specialized and have the experience, skill and appropriate capabilities to provide various marketing services that add a high value to the banana crop. 4Studying the needs of local markets of bananas and the time of demand for them, which indicates the importance of its presence in the right time, place and price throughout the year, which facilitates the better conduct of the marketing process. 5Providing high-efficiency shipping and transportation means to reduce the loss of the banana crop during transportation, with the need to reduce losses after carrying out the marketing operations of sorting, grading and unloading.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"25 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116415933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study looked at three factors: chicken and turkey meatballs, liquid smoke and TEO concentrations (1 % and 0.1 %, respectively), and shelf life at refrigerated temperatures at 4◦ +1 C for (0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 days). Physicochemical (moisture, crude protein, crude fat, ash, pH value, water holding capacity) and total bacterial count parameters were examined. The treatments showed a considerable favorable effect on the overall bacterial count and physicochemical parameters. During storage, the samples treated with liquid smoke, then TEO, and control lost the least amount of moisture, protein, and water holding capacity. During storage, the fat, ash, and total bacterial count increased, with the greatest levels in control and the lowest in liquid smoke, followed by TEO. The pH value has decreased during storage by addition of liquid smoke 1% compared to TEO, and control. The interaction between treatments and storage days showed significant effect (P ≤0.05) on protein, fat, pH value, water holding capacity and total bacterial count. Furthermore, the lowest change was noticed in samples treated with liquid smoke during storage. Applications of liquid smoke in meatballs reduced the rate of microbial damage, maintained the physiochemical properties and were better accepted compared to TEO and control.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130953817","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Spinach contained the highest concentration (3837.5 ppm) of nitrate while coriander leaves had the lowest value (575.28 ppm). Nitrite content was higher in cabbage leaves (95.85 ppm) than other leafy vegetables. Spinach and chard leaves contained the highest levels of oxalate (40.11 and 42.38 mg/g \"DW\", respectively) than other fresh vegetables. Ordinary cooking process led to a significant loss of nitrate and nitrite contents of leafy vegetables under study. The losses of nitrite content were 74.12, 35.13 and 74.12% of its initial values in spinach, cabbage and green Jew’s mallow, respectively. However, the loss of oxalate in cooked leafy vegetables varied from 33% in spinach to 100% in cabbage of its initial raw material values. Effect of blanching and freezing on nitrate, nitrite and oxalate contents of some selected leafy vegetables investigated. The loss of nitrate as result of blanching and freezing processes was: 42.3, 49.1 and 54.6% of its initial values in spinach, cabbage and Jew’s mallow, respectively. From the obtained results, it could be observed that the highest loss of oxalate was recorded in blanched frozen cabbage leaves which reaching 100%, followed Jew’s mallow by 58% and spinach by 30% of its initial values.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115432270","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Those work in the aforementioned entities, and thus a total of 224 respondents. The most problems that contributed to the farmers’ reluctance to grow and produce the fava bean crop were the weakness of the agricultural extension system in the problems related to the crop (95.98%), its failure to stimulate farmers who excel in productivity (93.75%), and the small size of agricultural holdings for the vast majority of the farmers (93.30%). A little more than two-thirds of the respondents (67.85%) believe that the current marketing system for the faba bean crop is not suitable for farmers, due to several reasons, the most important of which are: the scarcity of cooperative agricultural marketing (97.32%), the absence of a stable marketing policy for the crop (96.87%), a decrease in the price of a ton of the crop after harvest (94.64%), the absence of a clear price policy for farmers that specifies an appropriate guarantee price for a ton of the crop before planting (94.20%), the lack of information on marketing agencies (92.85%).","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128882188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In vitro, all evaluated antioxidants significantly reduced the mycelial linear growth and biomass at all tested concentrations. Salicylic acid at 20 mM caused the highest inhibitory effect, where it caused the highest reduction of the mycelial linear growth, and biomass reached 1.07 cm and 0.046 mg. In contrast, humic acid at 20 mM caused the lowest inhibitory effect. In the greenhouse and field trials, the antioxidants significantly varied in their effectiveness on the incidence of onion neck rot disease. The efficiency increased by increasing the concentration of each tested antioxidant. Salicylic acid at 20 mM was the most effective one and caused a high reduction in disease index (DI) and disease severity, followed by pyrogallol acid, while humic acid was the lowest effective one. During storage, the antioxidants at all concentrations tested significantly varied in their effectiveness on the incidence of neck rot disease and reduction in bulb weight of onion. The efficiency also increased by increasing the concentration of each tested antioxidant. Salicylic acid at 20 Mm caused the highest efficiency, where it caused the lowest DI and bulb weight reduction to reach 28.11 and 14.75%, respectively, compared with 77.81 and 53.63% of the control. In conclusion, this study suggests that applying antioxidants such as salicylic and pyrogallol acids could be effectively used to control neck rot disease of onion as alternaive approach instead of fungicieds.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131482161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
