The highest means of bulb diameter were recorded for Shandaweel 1, while the lowest means were recorded for Giza 20, in both seasons. The highest means of bulb diameter were obtained under the treatment of 75% NPK + bio fert. + humic + nano-ZnO at 90 days in the second season and at 120 days in both seasons, while the treatment of 75% NPK + humic + nano-ZnO appeared the highest values of bulb diameter at 90 days in the first season. Shandaweel 1 variety attained the highest values of plant fresh weight and plant dry weight at 90 days in both seasons, while Giza 6 Mohassan recorded the lowest values at 90 days in the 2nd season. The treatments of 75% NPK+ bio fert. + humic + nano-ZnO appeared the highest values of plant fresh weight and plant dry weight at 90 days, while the treatment of 100% NPK appeared the highest values at 120 days, in both seasons. The highest values of average bulb weight, total yield/fed and exportable yield/fed, were obtained by planting of Giza 20 variety under 75% NPK + biofert. + humic + nano-ZnO, in both seasons. The highest values of local marketable yield/fed, were obtained by planting of Giza 20 variety under 75% NPK + humic + nano-ZnO, in both seasons. The highest means of TSS% were recorded under the treatment of no fertilization in both seasons, while the lowest means were obtained under the treatments of 75% NPK + humic + nano-ZnO, in the first season and under 50% NPK + humic + nano-ZnO in the second season.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130241187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pathogenicity tests carried out in the greenhouse showed that only the isolates of B. allii were pathogenic to onion plants and caused identical neck rot symptoms among all tested fungal isolates. However, B. allii isolates exhibited different levels of virulence. Isolate No. 9 of B. allii was the highest pathogenic one. In vitro, the influence of carbon, MgO, and ZnO nanoparticles was tested at 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3 mM on mycelial linear growth and biomass of B. allii. Results obtained showed that all tested nanomaterials significantly reduced the mycelial linear growth and biomass at all tested concentrations. The nano MgO at 0.3 mM caused the high inhibitory effect followed by nano ZnO, where they highly reduced mycelial linear growth and biomass compared to the untreated controls. In greenhouse and field experiments, the MgO and ZnO nanoparticles at 0.3 mM highly reduced the disease incidence and severity compared with the control of untreated plants. Moreover, the MgO and ZnO nanoparticles at 0.3 mM highly reduced the neck rot incidence and the decline in bulb weight of onion due to infection with B. allii during storage. Therefore, this study reports that the MgO and ZnO nanoparticles are eco-friendly alternative approaches for suppressing neck rot disease on onion in the field and storage.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-05-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127420479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, handling time of prey by all larval instars of the three predators was calculated. Handling time (Ht), the time needed by Ch. carnea to consume a prey of A. gossypii was 70.00, 30.56 and 28.50 minuets per one aphid for 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd instars, respectively. However, it was 74.54, 34.56, 22.69 and 18.85 minutes per one aphid for 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th instars of C. undecimpunctata respectively. Also it was 60.91, 27.61, 20.17 and 17.43 minutes per one aphid for 1 st , 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th instars of C. septempunctata respectively. The total and daily consumption, also the duration of all larval instars of the three predators were estimated. These results showed that, the handling times of predators are a good indicator of the predation rate and could be used on the biological control of cotton aphid program.","PeriodicalId":139703,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sohag Agriscience (JSAS)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123752938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
