Although it is found that the beginning of mathematics education started from ancient times, it is found that it was tried to be organized from the year 1537. In this study, an attempt has been made to investigate the real challenges and issues in mathematics education. Although many problems were seen in mathematics teaching, I was forced to think about various questions. Is it because of incompetent teachers that the students' academic loss is happening in mathematics? Is there a decrease in achievement due to the lack of interest of students in mathematics? Various research questions were prepared and objectives were prepared and the research work was carried forward. This study proceeded to explore the reality of teachers' real issues and challenges in mathematics education. It was possible to identify many issues and challenges through the tests conducted on certain schools and certain students and teachers. Studying based on the 3-year academic achievement of the students selected in the sample from the research, although only 3 students have improved, the scores have been declining year after year. It seems that only 7 percent of the students like mathematics. A total of 40 students and 2 schools in rural areas and 2 schools in urban areas have been selected in the sample selection. Although every educational aspect of the teachers is good, the failure of mathematics subject to become a subject of interest and the annual educational loss in mathematics is a challenge and issue of mathematics teachers. It is expected that the mathematics education can be improved if the stakeholders make strategies and plans based on the results obtained from this research.","PeriodicalId":138341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Learning and Educational Policy","volume":"87 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140794902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study takes a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis and qualitative observations to assess Photomath's impact on students' learning results. The study intends to offer light on how Photomath affects students' mathematical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and overall academic achievement via the lens of educational technology. The quantitative component entails examining pre- and post-intervention assessment scores and comparing the performance of students who used Photomath to those who used standard teaching methods. In addition, surveys and interviews are used to collect qualitative data about students' perspectives, attitudes, and experiences using Photomath. This dual-method approach enables a more nuanced assessment of the complex implications of incorporating this technology into the Grade 7 mathematics curriculum. The study's findings are intended to contribute not only to scholarly discussions on technology-assisted learning, but also to practical issues for educators and legislators. By investigating the efficacy of Photomath at a specific grade level, the study hopes to shed light on the possible benefits and drawbacks of using similar instructional tools. Finally, this investigation aims to inform evidence-based decisions on the use of technology to improve mathematics teaching for Grade 7 pupils.","PeriodicalId":138341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Learning and Educational Policy","volume":"24 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140367228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Universities worldwide had to adopt new assessment technologies as COVID-19-related restrictions made it impossible to conduct invigilated exams. Therefore, academics had to change their assessment styles, types, and formats to match the new normal. Although online education is a well-established domain where remote assessments are the usual practice, such a sudden shift made it extremely difficult to manage this within such short notice. Alternative assessments, such as online assessments, open-book exams, timed assessments, and online exams, were used as a replacement for traditional face-to-face exams. However, careful consideration and planning were necessary to ensure effectiveness, fairness, and prevention of academic misconduct. This paper examines alternative assessment practices used in different parts of the world, the historical context of invigilated exams, and the impacts of this sudden shift on academics and teaching pedagogy. Additionally, the paper provides recommended strategies to help academics plan assessment design as multi-mode delivery (i.e., hybrid approach offering both in-person and online options concurrently) and assessment practices are likely to continue in the post-COVID world Moving forward, universities must adapt to the changing assessment practices brought about by the pandemic and develop strategies to ensure academic integrity and fair assessment practices. This includes designing assessments that are appropriate for remote delivery, incorporating new assessment technologies, and ensuring that assessments are fair and secure. Furthermore, universities must continue to explore and develop new assessment practices that meet the needs of their students in the changing landscape of higher education.","PeriodicalId":138341,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Learning and Educational Policy","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117119633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
