In [1], the blind estimation scheme has drawn a lot of attention, but the computational complexity caused by the MUSIC exhaustive search is high. Therefore, an iterative scheme is proposed in this paper to reduce the computational complexity while maintaining comparable performance. The simulation results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed scheme and that the performance is near to the Cramer-Rao bound (CRB).","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"1081 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122898070","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The calibration method consists of a novel built-in self test for direct conversion receivers that is able to measure the gain, and the second and third order intermodulation products of the mixer. A random optimizer algorithm based on a least square error function provides digital control of the biasing circuit and the loads of the mixer. The gain and IIP3 are calibrated by regulating the current of the input differential pair and by switching the loads. IIP2 calibration is achieved by using a novel technique that consists of offset voltages cancellation in the switching pairs. The technique is validated by calibrating a 0.18 um CMOS mixer in several corner conditions.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"166 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128985431","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed RS decoder features a novel time-sharing scheme of decoding elements, and thus a low complexity for hardware implementation. After existing RS decoding algorithms are investigated, the algorithms with lower complexities are introduced in the decoder. The regular architecture for inversion-free Berlekamp-Massey algorithm of finding the error-locator polynomial is employed and further exploited for computing syndromes and determining the error pattern, two other phases of RS decoding. As shown in synthesis results, the FPGA resource is reduced by about 75% in contrast to that of the conventional decoder. Attaining significant reduction of hardware complexity, the proposed decoding architecture is competent for efficiency-demanding systems, in particular for wireless and mobile communication systems.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"1995 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125557380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we categorized routing metrics into three types and derived new metrics of each type. Firstly, by considering the primary usage pattern and maximum CR link hold-time, we derived three new metrics MET, RH and METRH to capture different end-to-end performances. We categorized these metrics as the first type. Then, interference caused by periodic sensing was introduced. We derived a novel metric LTP to reflect this interference and categorized this metric as the second type. Finally, by making trade-off between end- to-end performances and interference to the primary users, we proposed metrics METI, RHI and METRHI which belong to the third type of routing metric. Simulation results indicate our proposed metrics of the first two types can accurately capture the performances they attempt to reflect. And all the proposed metrics outperform the traditional Minimum Hop metric (MH) in the considering performances by a large margin.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124654301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was shown that ADIC approach provides, in a single receive antenna scenario, the same performance as the decision feedback soft multistage parallel interference canceller (DF-soft-MPIC) while affording a complexity reduction by a factor of 4. This paper proposes and analyses new versions of ADIC: the first efficiently takes into account the diversity offered by in a multiple receiving antennas context and the second aims at improving the performance based on multipass channel estimation and joint ADIC MUD, referred herein as MADIC. It has high data rate, large network coverage, flexible QoS schemes and cheap network deployment. Various flexible mechanisms related to QoS provisioning have been specified for uplink traffic at the medium access control (MAC) layer in the standards. Among the mechanisms, contention based bandwidth request scheme can be used to indicate bandwidth demands to the base station for the non-real-time polling and best- effort services. These two services are used for most application with unknown traffic characteristics. Due to the diverse QoS requirements of those applications, service differentiation (SD) is anticipated over the contention based bandwidth request scheme. In this paper we investigate the SD with the bandwidth request scheme by means of assigning different channel access parameters and bandwidth allocation priorities. The effectiveness of the differentiation schemes are evaluated by simulations. It is observed that the initial backoff window can be efficient in SD, and if combined with the bandwidth allocation priority, the SD performances will be better.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127208564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To form a beam pattern, after despreading with specified user code and signal integrating by a bank of integrator, signal weights are calculated based on signal strength at each finger of rake receiver. Afterward, the matched signals are summed up with maximal-ratio combining and are passed through frame decision unit (FDU), which requires additionally a priori information in terms of estimated bit error probabilities. In fact, we exploit a practical rake combining scheme and probability- based error degradation technique before any decoding applications. Monte Carlo simulations have been used to evaluate the receiver bit-error rate performance in frequency- selective mobile radio channel environments.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127327189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
