In the 90’s, other professionals started to practice it in a precursory and unregulated way, with imported equipment. The work of physician Edison de Cezar Philippi stands out, who was a great disseminator and together with other physicians such as Dr. Glacus Brito, Dr. Maria Emília Serra, Dr. Ana Cristina Barreira, among others, founded the first association of Ozone Therapy in Brazil, which in 2006 became Brazilian Association of Ozone Therapy (ABOZ), with Dr. Maria Emília Gadelha Serra as its first president. In the state and regulatory scope, Ozone Therapy was an unknown technique. Numerous scientific articles were presented to the Ministry of Health, the Federal Council of \u0000Medicine, and ANVISA (equipment regulatory agency in Brazil). The first regulatory framework for Ozone Therapy in Brazil took place in 2015, with the publication of Resolution CFO 166/2015, which regulated Ozone Therapy in Dentistry. \u0000In 2018, Ozone Therapy was included as an integrative practice by the Ministry of Health of Brazil, with the publication of ORDINANCE N° 702 (21/03/2018) which included new practices in the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC), of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). From this milestone, the Professional Class Councils began to understand and regulate Ozone Therapy within the scope of each profession. \u0000Currently, dentistry, physiotherapy, pharmacy, nursing, veterinary medicine, and biomedicine councils have an official understanding of Ozone Therapy, each within its scope of action and with a specific definition of training. These resolutions collaborate to improve the scenario of Ozone Therapy in the country, bringing more possibilities for treatment, and health care for the entire population. \u0000Although there are numerous qualified studies for the practice to be regulated for medicine, the Federal Council of Medicine is still waiting for more scientific evidence, so it only authorizes activities in the experimental scope (registered clinical research). \u0000In the meantime, faced with the difficulties of understanding from the Federal Council of Medicine, the national congress approved a bill proposing that ozone therapy be authorized throughout the national territory. This bill is currently under review by the Senate and the next step is presidential sanction. \u0000Even with all the regulatory achievements in these 15 years of work, we still have many challenges to overcome. The main one is the regulation for use by doctors, so Ozone Therapy becomes an official technique. In addition, for Ozone Therapy to be carried out more ethically and scientifically, it is necessary to understand the scenario and some challenges: \u0000• How to establish boundaries between professional categories, since ozone has many application routes - not all professionals are prepared to perform more invasive routes. \u0000• The established model based on the diagnos

To restore the glutathione equilibrium GSH/ GSSG the low-dose ozone concept offers a strategy in redox medicine as shown here in primary and secondary prevention and convalescence. \u0000To illustrate the main pharmacological effects and to follow the treatment success we focus to the following refence substances: GSH (reduced glutathione), GGT (gamma glutamyl transferase) or SOD (superoxide dismutase) as protection markers and one or two parameters of stress markers: MDA (malondialdehyde). \u0000Especially liver and kidneys are prevented from oxidative stress, regularly GSH increases, MDA decreases. According to the diagnose (a female dog with an ulcerated mammary adenocarcinoma, another with vaginal adenocarcinoma, a male dog with basal cells tumour in the scrotum, a male cat with low grade linfoma and hepatic injury, another male cat with squamous cells carcinoma (SCC) and a male white lion with a melanoma in the lower eyelid) the ozone protocol was established using combinations of local infiltration, topic instillation of ozonized oil, major and minor autohemotherapy, ozonized drinking water, rectal insuflations and bagging technicque. The results showed an improvement of general state of the patients: increase of appetite and activity in all of them, decrease size of tumour in two patients, healing of ulcers, total remission of the basal cells tumour. Ozone therapy is the elective linfoma treatment due to the hepatic injury in this patient, who remains stable in terms of linfoma but his hepatic injury presents evidence of improving. In patient 6 –the lion with melanoma- zookeepers report absence of exudate and pruritus. \u0000 \u0000DISCUSSION. \u0000There are not enough reports of the use of ozone in oncological veterinary patients (1) but there are many preclinical papers and human case reports about ozone for cancer treament (2,3,4,5). \u0000 \u0000CONCLUSION. \u0000Based on that, it is posible to conclude that established protocols were capable of improve quality of life of the patients avoiding methastasic process and tumoral growth.

Furthermore, following its clinical uses with excellent clinical responses on several heterogeneous diseases and pain, it is now clear that the biological activity of this gas is mediated by graded responses to the mild oxidative stress induced after its application. Thus, the ancestral environment of our cells, whose energy production is strictly bind to oxygen burn, may be mediated by common defenses probably linked to the ubiquitous signaling pathway mediated by Nrf2. \u0000Moreover, after the first description of the oxidative stress in the 1970s and the discovery of Nrf2 as transcription factor in 1994, we could observe a rapid growth of the literatures regarding its function as master regulator of a myriad of cellular processes and its association to a multiple pattern of diseases including aging. \u0000In conclusion, to my opinion, the Systems Medicine approach could finally represents the real key to better understand the wide reported efficacy of ozone treatment.

It is a complex entity that presents multiple pathophysiological aspects, and it is sometimes difficult to establish an adequate diagnosis, since its signs and symptoms may overlap with those of other diseases. For a better diagnosis and control of this pathology, it is currently essential to follow up through echocardiography and the determination of natriuretic peptides, since this increase significantly in patients with heart failure, having a negative predictive value for these patients. For this reason, we set out to study the effects of rectal ozone treatment on cardiac contractility and natriuretic peptides in patients with heart failure. \u0000We conducted a study with two groups of 6 patients each, who had a diagnosis of Class II-III Chronic HF according to the functional classification of the New York Heart Association (NYHA) and the American Cardiology College / American Heart Association (ACC/AHA), Echocardiogram with a Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction (LVEF) less than 50% and dosage of Elevated Natriuretic Peptides. We administer ozone rectally through insufflation, with a 20-session protocol (increasing concentration and volume every 5 sessions until reaching 300 ml), performing the following treatment scheme: 5 sessions with 25 ?g/ml concentration and 200 ml volume, 5 sessions with 30 ?g/ml and 250 ml, 5 sessions with 35 ?g/ml and 300 ml and the last 5 sessions with 40 ?g/ml and 300 ml volume. \u0000As a result, it was obtained that ozone treatment through rectal insufflation, through its anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, was able to improve the clinical status of the study group, significantly reducing below 50% the values of the natriuretic peptide that was elevated at the beginning and the ejection fraction of the left ventricle was significantly increased. Concluding in this way that ozone administration by rectal route as a complement to conventional treatment significantly increased the ejection fraction of the left ventricle, and decreased the values of natriuretic peptide, significantly improving the quality of life of these patients.
