When homeostasis is altered in the redox metabolism of cells that participate in the immune response, they usually evolve into a situation of oxidative stress that facilitates cell dysfunction and death. The objective of our work was to study the effect of ozone on the regulation of redox status, necessary to maintain normal immune function in patients with immunoglobulin A deficiency. Patients and methods: The Research Ethics Committee conducted and approved a clinical trial and whose patients gave informed consent for inclusion. Sixty patients were randomly assigned to two groups: one receiving ozone rectal insufflation (study group-SG) and the second using Hebertrans® (control-GC group), subcutaneously. Pro-oxidant parameters (malondialdehyde-MDA and advanced oxidation protein products-AOPP) and antioxidant parameters (superoxide dismutase1-SOD1, catalase-CAT, glutathione peroxidase-GPx and total antioxidant capacity of serum) were measured. They were measured at the beginning and one month after treatment. Results: In the SG the MDA and the APOP of patients ?15 years, decreased significantly (p = 0.000) with respect to the control group. SOD1 in the SG increased in patients ?15 years (p = 0.006) and from 16 to 30 years of age (p = 0.040) with respect to GC. CAT in patients ?15 years of the SG increased significantly (p=0.001) with respect to initial values. The final result of the total antioxidant capacity in the SG was significantly (p=0.000) higher in patients ? 15 years, similar results were obtained in GPx (p=0.013). Conclusions: With ozone therapy, beneficial effects on the oxidation reduction balance were achieved. Medical ozone therapy may be an additional treatment option, for immunoglobulin A deficient patients with oxidative stress.

Conventional ozone therapy is used successfully in the symptomatic control of patients with cancer. We believe that the administration of ozone at high doses through IPO3 could provide an additional benefit in the control of refractory symptoms in patients with cancer. \u0000We present below a cancer patient with very deteriorated quality of life, successfully treated with IPO3. \u0000The patient is a 48-year-old woman with a history of breast cancer who has a disseminated metastatic recurrence that affects bones, skull, liver, lung and peritoneum, with symptomatology refractory to symptomatic medication. Her quality of life was limited by severe asthenia (which kept her bedridden for more than two months) and pain refractory to symptomatic treatment with opiates and corticosteroids. \u0000The patient was treated with a cycle of rectal ozone therapy, consisting of a conditioning cycle with 15 sessions of oxygen / ozone rectally, followed by placement of a peritoneal catheter to subsequently perform five IPO3 sessions. \u0000At the end of the treatment, all the symptoms of the patient were resolved completely, allowing the withdrawal of all the analgesic medication, returning the patient to a normal life. There were no side effects, and the beneficial effects of this IPO3 cycle were maintained for more than two months. The analysis showed diminution of the tumor and inflammatory markers during the treatment. \u0000Ozone therapy at high doses should be considered in cancer patients with severe symptoms and refractory to conventional treatment.

After the primary measurement, 15 players were selected randomly and treated with 20 µg/ml to 30 µg/ml Major Ozone Autohemotherapy, 2 times a week for 5 weeks. The other 15 players were designated as the control group. At the end of the process, Astrand Treadmill Test was repeated with the same players on the 8th week, and their measurements were taken and compared with the first results. Results for first day average VO2 max was 51 mL/kg/min for each group. After 8 weeks, first group’s VO2 Max found averagely 61 mL/kg/min. Control group’s average VO2 Max was found 54 mL/kg/min. In the first measurement, max running time was average 25 min. for each group, and after 8 weeks it was measured as 32 min. average for the first group, and 28 min. average for the control group. \u0000 \u0000Conclusion \u0000The difference in performance increase was found significant between football players who were treated and not treated with ozone therapy. All athletes performed the same training program for 8 weeks. VO2max was increased %28 in ozone therapy-treated athletes but it was increased %12 in the control group. Max running time was increased %20 at ozone therapy-treated athletes, and it was increased %6 in the control group. In terms of these results, we can say that ozone therapy will be very effective for increasing athletic performance before season or tournaments.

It is reported to be a heterogeneous syndrome resulting from structural damage to the myocardial fiber which occurs through various mechanisms. On the other hand, ozone therapy has shown a protective role against I/R phenomenon observed in clinical situations such as HF and circulatory shock. On this point, our objective was to evaluate rectal ozone therapy effect in a patient with decompensated heart failure and diabetes mellitus type 2, treated at our Cardiozono Medical Center, in Luanda, Angola. \u0000Variables to be measured before and after rectal ozone therapy were: functional classification, biochemical parameters and left ventricular ejection fraction. As a result, rectal ozone therapy was able to improve the clinical condition of our patient, the renal and hepatic function tests were also improved and the ejection fraction of the left ventricle was significantly increased. As a conclusion we have that rectal ozone therapy, complementary to conventional treatment, improved the quality of life of this patient, as well as, the ejection fraction of the left ventricle was significantly increased, reflecting the cardioprotective effect of rectal ozone therapy.

Laminitis is the inflammation of the dermal and epidermal blades of the hull. The use of ozone has already demonstrated promising effects in horses, through postoperative analgesia, antioxidant effect in athletic animals and even chronic laminitis. Thus, the objective of this article is to describe the use of ozone therapy in different methodologies (intramuscular points, acupoints and footbath) in the aid of pain control in an equine with chronic laminitis. \u0000Methods. An equine male, 513 kg, English Thoroughbred, seven years old, was referred with severe claudication with 20 days of evolution, after transportation of approximately 780 km, after its acquisition. Upon clinical examination, the animal demonstrated degree 4 of claudication (scale from 1 to 4) and alternating support of the thoracic limbs. The radiographic examination showed rotation of the distal phalanx in all digits and the diagnosis was chronic laminitis. The initial therapeutic protocol was meloxican (0.6 mg/kg, SID, IM) for two days, flunixin meglumine (1.1 mg/kg, SID, IM) for three days, followed by firocoxib (0.1 mg/kg, SID, PO) for more than 120 days. During all the treatment, the use of omeprazole (4 mg/kg, SID, PO) and acepromazine (0.01 mg/kg, BID, IM) was maintained, as well as corrective hoof trimming and bandaging with soft material on the sole. In order to promote better analgesia and greater patient comfort with minimal adverse effects, the use of firocoxib was interrupted and 20 ozone therapy sessions were instituted. The protocol consisted of bilateral administration of oxygen / ozone (40 ug/ml, IM) in pre-scapular, scapular, post-scapular and acupuncture points (LI11 POINT), as well as ozonized footbath for hoof cleaning. \u0000Results. Two months after the beginning of treatment the patient showed significant improvement of body condition and better walking with evolution to score 2 of claudication, without any side effect. \u0000Discussion. The pain control verified in this patient can be explained by the action of ozone in the inflammatory cascade, that is, altering the degradation of arachidonic acid and with it the inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines. \u0000Conclusion. We concluded that the ozone therapy technique was satisfactory in controlling chronic laminitis pain.

This molecule is considered as a pro-drug which can induce at certain non-toxic doses a rearrangement of the biochemical pathways with the activation of a second messenger in a cascade with a multiple system action. Nonetheless, its difference from a drug consists in the fact that its action can’t be explained as a simple interaction between a molecule and a receptor, thus, it can’t be considered according to the classical pharmacological schemes and new concepts must be defined. Furthermore, ozone is able to activate Nfr2 protein. Our study reflects how the levels of Nrf2 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells were found to increase immediately after ozone exposure and when measured 30 minutes following reinfusion demonstrating that the oxidative stress was able to activate all the blood components. After a series of 3 systemic indirect endovenous applications, Nrf2 returned back to the basal level. At the end of the experiment the activities of superoxide dismutase and catalase were increased. This metabolic pathway is common to all cell lines. In light of the above, ozone could be very helpful as integrative and complementary support for pharmacological therapy modulating the oxidative stress component in many illnesses, elderly and rare diseases, according to not only a legal regulation but also a proper education and training of physicians.
