The hard coatings deposited by PVD methods can have different phases and grain structures which is generally composed of columnar crystals from the transition layer to the coating surfaces. Results from the electrochemical polarization and impedance studies showed the favorable behavior of the TiN, which have improved the corrosion resistance property followed by TiN/TiO2 multilayer, TiO2 and uncoated 316L SS in presence of artificial blood plasma with and without addition of amino acids. Hemocompatibility was performed to analyze the materials biocompatibility. Coated thin films showed better compatibility than uncoated films. TiO2 exhibited highly hydrophilic in nature than other films. The structural and optical properties of the resultant products were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM with EDS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-Vis absorption and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the as-prepared sample was indexed to the hexagonal phase of SnS2 and the crystallite size was found to be 21.12nm. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis indicated that the elemental ratio was close to those for tin disulphide (SnS2.04). The blue shift in the absorption edge was observed from the UV-Vis spectrum and the band gap was found to be 3.03eV. The as-prepared nanoparticles were subjected to compositional, structural, morphological and photoluminescence studies. EDS confirmed the presence of Nd element in ZnO nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction patterns and TEM studies established that pristine and Nd doped ZnO nanoparticles exhibited wurtzite crystal structure. The average particle size obtained from the XRD and TEM were in good agreement with each other. The present investigation deals optimization of sintering parameters of hybrid aluminum matrix reinforced with micro SiC particles, and nano copper oxide (CuO) particles. Experiments have been performed under different conditions of temperature, nano CuO content, and compacting pressure. Powder mixtures were compacted at a pressure ranging from 55 to 65 N/m2. The green compacts were sintered at temperatures between 550 and 600°C. Full factorial design was used to investigate the sintering process parameters. Optimization was carried out using response surface modeling based desirability analysis. The hydrothermally grown ZnO nanowires network has been selectively modified with various sensitizers using RF sputtering to generate a 2×7 sensor array. After fabrication, the sensor array device has been investigated for its gas sensing properties. The optimal temperature for H2S sensing has been observed to be 300°C. The maximum sensor response of S=52 was obtained for Au5.7at% modified ZnO NWs with response and recovery times of 22 sec and 52 min, respectively. Concentration profile at 300°C revealed the same pattern with change in amplitude by changing H2S concentration. The resultant films are characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDAX) analysis, UV-Visible spectroscopy and Hall measurement set-up. The characterization studies revealed crystallization of the main p-CdTe phase with minor oxidation corresponding to TeO2 in resultant films. The uniform size distribution of spherical particles with average particle size = 0.2 μm is noted from SEM studies. The optical properties are found to be absorbance (α) = 0.80 and band gap (Eg) = 1.46 eV for the films prepared at 573 K. The less oxidation at higher processing temperature realized in XRD and EDAX studies might be due to higher crystallization rate of p-CdTe dominating the oxidation. The Hall coefficient, RH = 0.0205 × 104 cm3/C, resistivity, r = 0.5812 × 102 Ω-cm and negative current value in Hot probe experiment indicated p-type semiconductor nature of resultant films processed at 573 K. In this work we report on the synthesis of ZnS-ZnO semiconductor nanocomposites by noval and simple solvothermal method. The prepared nancomposites of different ratios were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-VIS absorption, Photoluminescence (PL) spectra and Photoconductivity (PC). X-ray diffraction (XRD) study confirmed the formation of multiphase of ZnS- ZnO nanocrystals . The calculated grain sizes using the Scherrer formula were found to be less than 4.5nm match with the SEM results. The UV-VIS absorption spectra show that the absorption edges of all nanocrystals fall within 310 to 350nm which explains a blue shift in wavelength corresponding to bulk.. Photoluminescence spectra of the nanocomposites exhibit five prominent peaks in the PL spectra.
