The Automatic Voltage Regulator system can be represented by a fourth order Transfer Function. The parameters of the controller are evaluated by using the Genetic Algorithm tuning method, for this method the Genetic Algorithm Optimization toolbox in MATLAB is used. A PID controller and a PID Filter controller are developed in order to come up with the optimum controller design for the system. The performance of the Genetic Algorithm based controller has been compared with the classical Ziegler-Nichols based controller. The results show that the Genetic Algorithm based controller outperforms the Ziegler-Nichols based controller, the optimum controller design is achieved by the GA based PID filter controller.","PeriodicalId":137077,"journal":{"name":"FES Journal of Engineering Sciences","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127329312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we attempt to employ Artificial Intelligence (AI) to predict heart attack. For this purpose, we employed the popular classification technique named the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm to predict the probability of having the Heart Attack (HA). The dataset used is the cardiovascular dataset available publicly on Kaggle, knowing that someone suffering from cardiovascular disease is likely to succumb to a heart attack. In this work, the research was conducted using two approaches. We use the KNN classifier for the first time, aided by using a correlation matrix to select the best features manually and faster computation, and then optimize the parameters with the K-fold cross-validation technique. This improvement led us to have an accuracy of 72.37% on the test set.","PeriodicalId":137077,"journal":{"name":"FES Journal of Engineering Sciences","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123010433","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Starting from its VoIP, NGN, and IMS to today's IP services landscape, which includes fixed and mobile high-definition (HD) voice, HD video calling, unified communications (UC), video conferencing, and telepresence, cooperation, instant messaging (IM), and the rich communication suite (RCS). Convergence is one of the most significant current trends in the ICT sector. It has changed the way services are delivered and obscured the distinction between fixed and mobile services. The transition to Next-Generation Networks (NGN) is the most important next phase in the ICT sector's convergence-driven evolution. In the realms of NGN, VoIP, and IMS, there is no PSTN equivalent; instead, there are \"IP islands \" that locate the total value of an IP service. The next basic step is to expand the arrive of those services across a totally interconnected cross-network premise in order to maximize their overall esteem among their target audiences. The liberalization of infrastructure services depends on managing the interconnection interface between the competitive and regulated sectors. These paper outlines regulation issues raised by IP-based interconnection and examine the current practices and procedural ways that being developed to address these concerns.","PeriodicalId":137077,"journal":{"name":"FES Journal of Engineering Sciences","volume":"261 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121812443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are various types of failure mechanisms that can develop during the service life of composite structures. Each of these mechanisms can initiate and propagate independently. However, in practice, they act synergistically and appear simultaneously. The difficulties that engineers face to understand and predict how these different failure mechanisms result in a structural failure enforce them to use high design safety factors and also increases the number of certification tests needed. Considering that the experimental investigations of composites can be limited, very expensive, and time-consuming, in this contribution the newly developed multi Phase-Field (PF) fracture model [1] is employed to numerically study the failure in different Unidirectional Fiber Reinforced Polymers (UFRPs) laminates, namely, fracture in single-edge notched laminated specimens, matrix cracking in cross-ply laminates, and delamination migration in multi-layered UFRPs. The formulation of the PF model incorporates two independent PF variables and length scales to differentiate between fiber and inter-fiber (matrix-dominated) failure mechanisms. The physically motivated failure criterion of Puck is integrated into the model to control the activation and evolution of the PF parameters. The corresponding governing equations in terms of variational formulation is implemented into the Finite Element (FE) code ABAQUS utilizing the user-defined subroutines UMAT and UEL. TCSC provide a variable impedance during an internal/external fault and HIF is undetectable by the conventional overcurrent relaying due to low-current amplitude with non-linear behavior. Therefore, this paper presents a new Method for identifying the high impedance fault in TCSC-compensated transmission line. It is use the square error ration of the current signals during the fault period and current signals during the safe operating period for extracting the fault. The cumulative sum is being used for enlarging the fault features and then output index is obtained in order to perform the high impedance fault. The proposed method has been tested under different fault circumstances such as multiple fault locations, and multiple fault inception time. Moreover, fault happened nearby the terminal, power flow change, and faults in the presence of noise are also being considered. The test results have shown that the proposed method is good in term of time response, and then it is more appropriate for high impedance fault in TCSC-compensated power line.","PeriodicalId":137077,"journal":{"name":"FES Journal of Engineering Sciences","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127139837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
