Three 1×2 fiber-optical switches are used to realize a system of spatial multiplexing of four sensing channels. Up to three LPGs can be connected in series in each channel covering a spectral range from 1525 nm to 1610 nm. The gratings are interrogated in a reflective mode using a tunable fiber reflector and a circulator. The system's performance was tested using bending and mechanical deformations on the gratings.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114877827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This represents a real challenge, when the design of high-gain amplifiers are considered, without resorting to passive resistive elements. However, some solutions do exist to overcome the lack of a p-type transistor. This paper then presents a comparison analysis of two high-gain single-stage amplifier topologies using only n-type enhancement transistors. In these circuits, high gain is achieved using positive feedback for the load impedance. The comparison is carried out in terms of bandwidth, power consumption and complexity under identical bias conditions. Further, the same load impedance is used to develop a novel high-gain multiplier. All the circuits are simulated using a 0.35 μm CMOS technology, as it is easy to test the reliability of the methods, since CMOS transistors have trustworthy models.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124488168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Possible maintenance issues have to be considered during the initial application design and development. The aim of this paper is to present how database and GUI can be designed in an object-oriented way, and to investigate whether such design can contribute to reduction of maintenance costs. Benefits of such approach are expected to be particularly noticeable in large scale applications that are expected to evolve and experience profound changes. Costs of maintenance as well as time required for potential modifications of application which is designed in accordance to the proposed methodology can be significantly reduced. Proposed methodology is compared with traditional application design which is based on relational database and user interface development using Rapid UI tools.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127765194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This recursive method is actually an extended version of the LMS-like identification method based on binary observations (LIMBO), whose practical requirement is a simple comparator (1-bit quantizer). This method can be applied in the case of finite impulse response (FIR) systems in the presence of noise and offset at the comparator input. Moreover, contrary to classical LIMBO approach, the unknown parameters are rigorously identified, and not up to a positive multiplicative constant. The idea consists in introducing a known dithering signal at the input of the quantizer, which acts as reference amplitude and allows us to identify the gain of the system. Some simulation results are given in order to compare the performances of this extended version of LIMBO with the usual one, in terms of convergence speed and estimation quality.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130010761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The multiobjective optimization includes several objectives such as power losses, capacitor costs and voltage deviation. The multiobjective optimization problem consists of conflicting objectives which need to be simultaneously optimized. Some other constraints are also considered. In the paper the following is proposed: the ES mutation operator adapted to the optimization problem, individual coding and generating of the initial population and finally, the mutation operator adapted to the optimization problem with discrete variables. The proposed approach has been evaluated on the test radial feeder and simulation results have been compared with those existing in the literature.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"161 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134130929","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Vector surge relays (VSRs) being frequency based relays are widely used for islanding detection in power systems. Considering similarities between frequency relays'(FRs') and VSRs' performances, it is suggested that FRs can detect islanding conditions as well as VSRs, however no evidence is presented for comparing FR and VSR performances in case of reactive power mismatch. This paper presents a comparison of FR and VSR islanding detection protection performances considering reactive power mismatch. The results confirm the validity of replacing VSRs with FRs.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130988616","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, taking into account the complete nonlinear model of the system in the synchronously rotating dq reference frame operating at the voltage oriented control mode, a cascaded q-axis controller scheme and a simple proportional d-axis controller are proposed. The inner-loop of the cascaded q-axis controller does not require decoupling networks and is used to achieve the desired q-axis current damping. The outer-loop PI controller enforces the MPP operation of the system by continuously tracking the rotating speed to the optimum. Its structure is slightly modified in a way that permits a second order linear system analysis. Stability and convergence to the equilibrium is proven by taking into account the inner-loop current controllers in the nonlinear analysis of the complete system. Extensive simulation results on a 2MW DFIG wind turbine system illustrate the enhanced system performance and verify the effectiveness of the controller.","PeriodicalId":136720,"journal":{"name":"Eurocon 2013","volume":"124 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124195382","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
