This study was designed to determine the acute toxicity of LCT on male mice and investigate the effect of repeated sub lethal dose (1/10 LD50) for 14 days on body and organ weights, some biomarkers and histopathological changes in liver and kidney. In addition, the regulatory effect of QE on the hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity induced by LCT. The results showed that oral administration of LCT significantly reduced the body weight gain while increased the relative weights of liver and kidney. In addition, LCT significantly increased the activity of the liver function parameters; aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and level of kidney indices; creatinine and urea as well as oxidative stress biomarkers; lipid peroxidation (LPO) level and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activity, while, declined the glutathione content (GSH). The above findings were confirmed by histopathological examination of liver and kidney. The administration of QE can effectively prevent LCT-induced hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity by attenuation oxidative stress, inflammation and tissue injury. QE enhanced antioxidant defenses, suggesting that it could be used as a potential therapeutic intervention to minimize LCT hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity.","PeriodicalId":134434,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Clinical Toxicology","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121400153","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are produced generally by incomplete combustion of combustible materials such as fossil fuels. Some PAHs are carcinogenic, mutagenic and teratogenic. The databases used in this study were Science Direct, Google Scholar and Springer. Among the 2650 articles found, 17 articles met our criteria. The results show that, the concentration of PAHs in rural areas, both indoor and outdoor (1689.32 and 718.58 µg/m3), is higher than in urban areas (720.86 and 529.79 µg/m3), respectively. Regarding the results, the type of applied fuel is influencing the concentration of PAHs. So that, PAHs released from combustion of coal was higher than remain (10750.1 µg/m3). The highest lifetime cancer risk (LTCRs) and hazard quotient (HQ) were for exposure to the concentrations of indoor PAHS in the rural areas (3.69×10-7 and 2.96×10-6), respectively.","PeriodicalId":134434,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Clinical Toxicology","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123754985","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The APTI of each plant was computed from four biochemical parameters namely: pH of the leaf extract, relative water content, ascorbic acid content and total chlorophyll content using standard methods. The test provides basic information to classify and label the products, being an initial step for other more lasting exposure studies. The Test Substance is a solution composed of 24% Hydrofluoric Acid (HF), controlled with the additive GQ-300®, which is a strongly acidic chemical composition and safe for human use, obtained by mixing strong acids with the purpose of achieving a balanced mixture of acids which allows, through additivation, the control and safe handling of other strong and corrosive acids. The objective of this study is to know the effect and absorption by the cutaneous route that this mixture has, for which it is used with a fixed volume of three labeled solutions and of different concentrations of HF, administered in Female Rats BIUO: Wistar in young age, adult rats and female mice BIOU: NMRI in young adult age. {"title":"Assessment of the Effects of Antiretroviral Medications on Kidney Status in Rwanda","authors":"Christian Mugabo","doi":"10.23880/act-16000257","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.23880/act-16000257","url":null,"abstract":"According to the previous research, ART over different durations of time has an effect on the nephron as well as on liver hepatoxicity by inducing toxicity. Renal dysfunction by ART has been associated primarily with tenofovir disoproxil, which is actively accumulated in the proximal renal tubule. CKD is the major problem in ART patients and can lead to loss of kidney function, leading to complications and kidney failure, and development of cardiovascular disease. The main objectives of this study was to assess the effect of antiretroviral drugs on kidney function among the patients attended Nyanza DH during the period of two years. The research is retrospective study done to identify the effect of antiretroviral drugs on kidney Status in Nyanza DH. In total, 755 patients received the antiretroviral medications in Nyanza DH during a period of two years from the 1st of January 2015 to the 31st of December 2017. However 98 patients had data complying with the objective of this study. Those patients with kidney tests conducted every 6months, with elevated CD4 count, and eliminated viral charge. Furthermore nephrotoxicity incidence was considered for both higher concentration of Serum creatinine and lower creatinine Clearance. The results showed that among 98 patients, 24.4% had kidney dysfunction characterized by elevated serum creatinine level at the beginning of treatment. After 6, 12 and 18 months of treatment the percentages of patients with elevated serum creatinine increased to 41.8%, 48.9 % and 50% respectively. It was found that the severity of the problem depends on: combinations the patient is taking, duration of exposure, and other medications the patient is using in combination. In this context it was found that 96.7% of patients that developed nephrotoxicity after 18months were using TDF .The results showed a higher frequency of nephrotoxicity in the population of the study. Therefore, a systematic kidney function monitoring from the beginning of the treatment should be of a great importance, those test could help to take appropriate measures.","PeriodicalId":134434,"journal":{"name":"Advances in Clinical Toxicology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120907409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
