The evaluated performances are based on a new behavioural model for common mode chokes and the identification of its uncertainties to evaluate the upper and lower limits of the final attenuation. Results are compared with the final performances of the choke placed in a circuit. The behavioral model is essential in simulation of EMI effects.","PeriodicalId":133902,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC Europe","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121045564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The individual tags are different in design, operation and transmitting frequencies. The process for measuring the tags' emissions in a reverberation chamber is discussed. The results show strong emissions, far exceeding aircraft emission limits and can be of potential interference risks.","PeriodicalId":133902,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC Europe","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134457256","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Long Range Radar requires protection not only against direct strike, but also against the indirect effects. The formulation of the military standard MIL-STD-464A Severe Strike confirms this need. The peak currents of the discharges are between 50 and 200 kA, for the A pulse, 2 kA for the B pulse and 200 to 800 Amps for the C pulse. For a radar system placed high on a ship, the chosen approach is the fictitious Rolling Sphere Technique in order to confirm the protection offered by the design. Experiments have been carried out using a test setup that could duplicate the three discharge components.","PeriodicalId":133902,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC Europe","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124898617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Genetic algorithm, an optimization method, is used to find the causal model parameters and the substrate dielectric properties. The measured S-parameter of a stripline with TRL calibration de-embedded is studied based on the proposed method. Good S-parameter agreement among the measurement, the causal RLGC circuit modeling, and the full-wave simulation has been achieved. The time-domain RLGC circuit simulation for pulse propagation along the stripline demonstrates that the developed model is causal. The comparison of eye-diagrams generated from S-parameters between the modeling, including RLGC circuit and full-wave, and the measurement is shown as well.","PeriodicalId":133902,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC Europe","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124879358","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is due to the fact that steep variations in supply current give rise to EM (electro-magnetic) emission. Hence, integrated circuits with lower emission are greatly demanded, especially in the automotive market. This paper describes several efficient low EME design techniques. Based on a 0.35 mum CMOS EMC test chip, the effectiveness of emission reduction techniques is quantified through a set of measurements.","PeriodicalId":133902,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC Europe","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114605682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the measurement and the calculation are carried out about the common mode current and the magnetic field generated from the AFE by the equivalent circuit that consists of a signal generator and an output transformer. As a result, it is confirmed by the calculation and the measurement that the common mode current increases according to the coupling capacitances between the primary and the secondary windings of the output transformer and the parasitic capacitances caused by traces, and that the magnetic field strength emitted from the signal wires is proportional to the common mode current. And then, an output transformer with a balun is proposed. It is clarified that the transformer with a balun is effective to reduce the common mode current and the magnetic field.","PeriodicalId":133902,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility - EMC Europe","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124744413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
